The USA are a fascist military empire which massacres and exploits the poor and helpless of this world in order to expand to cover the planet with their bases (the US equivalent of imperialism).

The population is brainwashed into radical nationalists who worship the military as a godlike entity and oppose any questioners.

They install and back dictators until the time is right to "harvest" the land, then they bomb, invade and occupy it.

This film reminds me of a joke being told around that time. The Americans and North Vietnam were in a race and the US won. It was reported as the North Vietnamese coming in second while the US was next to last.

Same thing in this "documentary". Should be called for what it is, a anti vietnam war film for those who ran and need an excuse to feel better about themselves.

What a great documentary, and yes it is a shame, if Americans do not know, or do not care to know about their real history, I recommend this documentary to anyone who wishes to get a balanced view of what went on back then. Maybe if enough American people had known about this, they might not have been bamboozled into repeating the same crap all over again.

For another viewpoint, try reading Michael Lind's book, Vietnam: A Necessary War. While this film was a great achievement to bring the horrors of war to light, it's important to remember that North Vietnam was a fairly repressive totalitarian dictatorship. So it was probably a war worth fighting but in a different way.  Also note that the no major war before or since has had that level of press freedom. Perhaps all wars are cruel and savage, but most remains hidden.

Not to mention the North Vietnamese invaded Laos aswell and stripped its assets - it took China invading the North to force them to leave Laos and Cambodia - The US couldn't win because foreign policy stopped them carrying out a land attack on the North - But the North were allowed to invade the South. Hitler would still be in Berlin if WWII had been fought by those rules! And it the same reason Afghan is taking so long.

Your points are also conflicting - If the Viets beat the Chinese, why would anyone worry about the Chins getting involved & If the Chinese getting involved in a war would cause WWIII why did Korea not turn into WWIII? Britain signed a treaty with Germany stating that if they stopped invading their neighbours there would be peace - but Hitler had to have Poland, then and only then did the BEF enter the war. The 44 countries you mention included many countries to small to fight Germany so it was join or die!
