It's kinda bad that after building up Frederic's level so he was part of my main team (with Jazz and Falsetto), he turned out to be the final boss. I wouldn't have minded, but it didn't let me choose my line-up between cutscene and fight, so whichever random party member that was next on the list would automatically be in the party. In my case it was March, who I had only ever had in the party once :(
Fortunately, it was a pretty easy battle without XD

i already beat this game. its a really sad ending and i love the music lol i beat him with Beat, Salsa, and Viola. Thats a good strategy of characters if you can't beat him. I was level I think but I'm not sure; around 40 so I hope that helped and you can pwn Frederik. =)
what level are your characters in the final battle? i go with 57 against him and it was too difficult for me, he kills 2 of 3 party characters a lot of time, i win for a little lucky strike
I don't understand why people are just so infuriated about Frederick being the final boss. Sure it wasn't the best idea for the finale of an epic game like this, but people are literally just completely turned off from the game by the fact that he's the final boss. I thought this was Tri-Crescendo's best game so far.

2. Why would Chopin challenge his friends to a fight if he wanted to die? Even if he thought it was all a dream and it should end, wouldn't it make more sense to throw himself off a cliff rather than expect his friends to sever all emotional ties and kill him (which they probably won't)?
I'm not agreeing with the idea of him being the final boss at all, I'm just saying it's not a good enough reason to be completely turned off from one of the most beautiful-looking games ever made.
I agree, it is a beautiful looking game. But for me, plot is pretty much the only reason that I play RPGs like this one. If the story isn't worth investing any energy in because the ending is so crap (and it is), what else are you left with in terms of gameplay? A fairly bland strategy / action hybrid that doesn't do either particularly well.
And for that reason, you may as well save yourself the cost and go download a screensaver, and just pretend it's got cool anime characters in it.

I'm reading many comments where people defeated Chopin at level 60's. This surprises me because if I remember correctly, by that time in the game, I was level 44-48 or so. It was my first playthrough though, not encore, if that makes a difference. Unless, I remember wrong and I really was at a higher level. I beat him on the second try using Viola, Allegretto, and Salsa. The ending was mad long too. o.o
You've got to complete the mysterious union: a tower near the end of the game. when you get to the noise dunes keep running right for about 4/5 screens then you'll come across a tower, complete the tower to get her back in the party.
I STRONGLY suggest a guide for the tower though as some of the floors are rediculouse to find your way around!
Actually it was incredibly easy for me. I figured out what I had to do the second I fought the first monster thing boss. Funny thing is,I was just training and treasure hunting, so I could get all their abilities. I didn't know I was close to the boss. After each boss, I went down and just went to whatever areas I haven't been to yet, then kept going up. It was funny, just go where you haven't before, and for me I have a bad memory this exploration was quite entertaining I never got lost!
She dies early in the game, perhaps you have to do something before that like a different choice of path, If possible. In this rpg your not really asked for decisions as in FFX, so it may not be possible.
I loved Eternal Sonata! It was like a movie, I cried, and then I watched all the credits, and I loved the very ending!! It was so good, better than half the movies I've seen!
I just beat the game, just now and think the exact same thing. It's so creative, entertaining and hits you on an emotional level. I didn't know what would happen next, unlike nowadays borish cliche movies. I know the gaming industry must do what the public wants yet there are such games which are so serious like valkirie profiles two that you begin to doubt the ending.
Chopin was as final boss was kinda dissappoiting. I knew there was still one boss to fight after legato and Waltz (who were tough) so i chose chopin as healer so i thought i was screwed when chopin was replaced in my final three by falsetto. But still i beat him with ease with Falsetto, allegretto and beat. So no healer used. This proves how weak Chopin actually is as final boss.

i watched this knowing that it contained MAJOR spoilers... and i DIDNT know that fredric would be the last boss.. and i spent this entire time trying to level him up -Facepalm-
no need you can continue levling him up, he has like 1.4m hp no matter what level he is and sorry for another major spoiler but just a pro tip. i thought he'd be stronger too but i trained all my characters to like lv 80 and he still had 1.4m hp so yeah hope this helps, he's pretty damn easy imo.

In the end, I could never take the English version. Chopin was one of the easiest bosses to beat after going through the Mysterious Unison. My line-up for the final battle was Salsa, March, and Viola as a healer. He was dead in 3 minutes because of Viola's arrows and the crazy chain attacks T_T
I reviewed the attack patterns... But... I'll not mind the button's crazy layout, which may explain the difficulty of getting the guard timing right. I memorized the attack timing of many, so my guards are...

Well Frederic was easy boss. You should try mystery unision. I just played it and beat the anhihilator with 4.900.000hp(well that was quite easy, my party was around 90lvl)
Either way, I have failed on finding that path to mystery unison, as well as being stumped on the third pirate clue. However, I was able to find the key to opening Xylophone Tower's top floor hidden room... Though it's subsequent after freeing Chord's soul.
It was a great game, but it actually got easier as the game went along. I mean I was able to beat Frederic with a party of Jazz, Viola, and Falsetto, all just above level 50 with party level 5... The only reason Dolce was tough was because you didn't have Viola to spam Heal Arrow, and Polka's healing sucked.
Eternal Sonata is a gret game no doubt, but the ending came so suddenly... I was a bit dissapointed to be honest...
I´m still playing on encore mode and will soon finish it, maybe I´ll upload the final battle too...
But Frederic wasn´t even that hard in normal, the most difficult boss in my opinion was Dolce, especially when you have to fight her for the fourth time in encore :P
I just fought Rondo in encore for the second time at floor 11 of the mysterious unison...
I can´t do it ! All my characters are at least lvl. 75 and Algretto uses his strongest weapon which gives 100% cricital hit rate, but still I can´t beat her..bloody hell!
i used viola, felsetto, and retto :) such a good team in my opinion, viola is the best aswel cuz she can b used for long range, short range and a healer depending on the suituation
p.s if you dnt want to use movie maker i would recommend sumthing like Adobe premiere Pro or if u hav a mac use Final cut pro these two hav never failed me in my films
no way dude, once fredric is lvl 46 mine was 57 when i beat game but at 46 he gets phantom pain witch increases the enemys attack by like 20 but at the bigest price, in one turn with fredric no echo meter i could do 100k damage and with 32 echo i could do over 300k. he is the best charecter and my favorite im glad i stuck with him but it got me so pissed when i found out i couldnt be him in that fight. and he had attacks that i didint have before too boot.
y'all I've played the PS3 version and let me tell you, frederic isn't s##t compared to the boss before him. In the PS3 version, you get to face both the ruined body AND count waltz( yes he's still alive). which would not be a problem except now you have TWO bosses to fight, and if you thought ruined body was hard alone, waltz owns the s##t out of you. I must've died 30 times against them before leveling up a huge amount and THEN beating them. So if u want a challenge, try that one on for size!
I can tell by Falsetto's damage that his character's aren't very high level, because I used Falsetto, Claves, Viola in my final team and my Falsetto had a ton more HP and a ton more damage.

only noobs use all weak characters and he would have won faster with one powerhouse character in hes group my team is frederic, allegretto, and march when i get my chain to 32 hit it stays there and i do over 1,000,000 damage every turn i'm just letting him know that hes garbage what is your team
My team was jazz, viola and allegretto. I see what you're trying to say, but i think it shows skill to win with 3 characters that are considered weak. Plus, i wouldnt put falsetto so far down on that list of yours, she gets in more hits than the other guys, which makes up for the damage difference, and also adds to the echoes.

i didn't say they were bad characters but going by stats alone when there on lvl 99 there overall isn't good but they are good for building echoes your team is good but u can't do what my team does and thats 1,000,000 plus damage from 32 hit chain
Completed this game in 16 hours. It's a really easy rpg. But, it is fun. The story is stupid and rammed in your face a lot throughout the game. Too many cut scenes. Starting encore mode now and i hope it shows more of a challenge than the normal game. Worth the buy though.
When I ended the game today, I beat him in one go.
But I'm still at party level 5, but all my characters are level 55(+)
But, i battled ALL my monsters along the way. Also, what about the second run through how do i do that ? And what a was with the "game data clear message"? I saved it without overwriting the pervious save point, so now I have two? Is that okay?
In order to get to party level 6, you have to complete Mysterious Unison, a secret dungeon located in the Noise Dunes; walk either west or east (doesn't matter 'cause you'll eventually get there) 3/4 times and you'll find an Oasis. Break the seal on the door using the Hero's Crest and good luck ^^
you don't have to COMPLETE unison for level 6, just beat the first boss in there. Completing unison gets you some bonus gear, character, achievements and more cash than you can spend in the entire game.

no need you can continue levling him up, he has like 1.4m hp no matter what level he is and sorry for another major spoiler but just a pro tip. i thought he'd be stronger too but i trained all my characters to like lv 80 and he still had 1.4m hp so yeah hope this helps, he's pretty damn easy imo.

In the end, I could never take the English version. Chopin was one of the easiest bosses to beat after going through the Mysterious Unison. My line-up for the final battle was Salsa, March, and Viola as a healer. He was dead in 3 minutes because of Viola's arrows and the crazy chain attacks T_T

Well Frederic was easy boss. You should try mystery unision. I just played it and beat the anhihilator with 4.900.000hp(well that was quite easy, my party was around 90lvl)

Either way, I have failed on finding that path to mystery unison, as well as being stumped on the third pirate clue. However, I was able to find the key to opening Xylophone Tower's top floor hidden room... Though it's subsequent after freeing Chord's soul.

It was a great game, but it actually got easier as the game went along. I mean I was able to beat Frederic with a party of Jazz, Viola, and Falsetto, all just above level 50 with party level 5... The only reason Dolce was tough was because you didn't have Viola to spam Heal Arrow, and Polka's healing sucked.

Eternal Sonata is a gret game no doubt, but the ending came so suddenly... I was a bit dissapointed to be honest...
I´m still playing on encore mode and will soon finish it, maybe I´ll upload the final battle too...
But Frederic wasn´t even that hard in normal, the most difficult boss in my opinion was Dolce, especially when you have to fight her for the fourth time in encore :P

Ok, you know what? I changed my mind...
I just fought Rondo in encore for the second time at floor 11 of the mysterious unison...
I can´t do it ! All my characters are at least lvl. 75 and Algretto uses his strongest weapon which gives 100% cricital hit rate, but still I can´t beat her..bloody hell!

i used viola, felsetto, and retto :) such a good team in my opinion, viola is the best aswel cuz she can b used for long range, short range and a healer depending on the suituation
p.s if you dnt want to use movie maker i would recommend sumthing like Adobe premiere Pro or if u hav a mac use Final cut pro these two hav never failed me in my films

no way dude, once fredric is lvl 46 mine was 57 when i beat game but at 46 he gets phantom pain witch increases the enemys attack by like 20 but at the bigest price, in one turn with fredric no echo meter i could do 100k damage and with 32 echo i could do over 300k. he is the best charecter and my favorite im glad i stuck with him but it got me so pissed when i found out i couldnt be him in that fight. and he had attacks that i didint have before too boot.

y'all I've played the PS3 version and let me tell you, frederic isn't s##t compared to the boss before him. In the PS3 version, you get to face both the ruined body AND count waltz( yes he's still alive). which would not be a problem except now you have TWO bosses to fight, and if you thought ruined body was hard alone, waltz owns the s##t out of you. I must've died 30 times against them before leveling up a huge amount and THEN beating them. So if u want a challenge, try that one on for size!

I can tell by Falsetto's damage that his character's aren't very high level, because I used Falsetto, Claves, Viola in my final team and my Falsetto had a ton more HP and a ton more damage.

only noobs use all weak characters and he would have won faster with one powerhouse character in hes group my team is frederic, allegretto, and march when i get my chain to 32 hit it stays there and i do over 1,000,000 damage every turn i'm just letting him know that hes garbage what is your team

My team was jazz, viola and allegretto. I see what you're trying to say, but i think it shows skill to win with 3 characters that are considered weak. Plus, i wouldnt put falsetto so far down on that list of yours, she gets in more hits than the other guys, which makes up for the damage difference, and also adds to the echoes.

i didn't say they were bad characters but going by stats alone when there on lvl 99 there overall isn't good but they are good for building echoes your team is good but u can't do what my team does and thats 1,000,000 plus damage from 32 hit chain

Completed this game in 16 hours. It's a really easy rpg. But, it is fun. The story is stupid and rammed in your face a lot throughout the game. Too many cut scenes. Starting encore mode now and i hope it shows more of a challenge than the normal game. Worth the buy though.

Okay, did I do something wrong with mine?
When I ended the game today, I beat him in one go.
But I'm still at party level 5, but all my characters are level 55(+)
But, i battled ALL my monsters along the way. Also, what about the second run through how do i do that ? And what a was with the "game data clear message"? I saved it without overwriting the pervious save point, so now I have two? Is that okay?
Over all it was awesome! :D

In order to get to party level 6, you have to complete Mysterious Unison, a secret dungeon located in the Noise Dunes; walk either west or east (doesn't matter 'cause you'll eventually get there) 3/4 times and you'll find an Oasis. Break the seal on the door using the Hero's Crest and good luck ^^

you don't have to COMPLETE unison for level 6, just beat the first boss in there. Completing unison gets you some bonus gear, character, achievements and more cash than you can spend in the entire game.
