This is one of my great grandmother's favorite songs..I heard her sing this song not too long ago at her church..every time I play this song..i think of her!!!
This 'Baptist' piece is found in the Gospel Pearls or its other paperback song book. However, my AME Church choir, the Youth and Young Adult Choir, sang this song a little faster with a beat. I thought at first this was going to be similar in tune...however, it is okay...it's still reflective of our foreparents' past and their struggles and hopes.
This song right here is just, wow! I didn't even know it was a baptist hymn! I remember going down to Birmingham, Ala to the 16th Street Baptist Church and hearing the stories of the 4 lil girls killed in the church bombing, and this song, just stayed with me as a reminder of all that happened in the Civil Rights Mvt.
Amen, I'm going through, no matter the world may do. Great post Joey. Another 5 Stars. I love this song. I love when gospel singers take them old hymns and put their voices to them.
I've started as well, and though I KNOW that I will not always succeed, I'm coming through Lord. SIMON4186
