  • I wouldn't trust a manc's (close enough, Salford or Macclesfield perhaps?) judgment of scousers (or vice-versa), they both hate one another. And they both hate Londoners so that opinion is biased as well.

  • this is the REAL canadian national anthem , frig quebec

  • i played this song at a BC lions game out on the field sometime after the summer(when school started) i think in october played

  • Hello to the commonwealth from the motherland (Great Britain) Never forget your heritage, It will forever unite us.

  • @soulofthenorth I would love to believe that Great Britain cares for Canada but I'm lacking faith. Many British people think we're just part of America. Many others think that we don't have out own armed forces, and haven't fought for Britain in several wars. Others believe that we're all French, or that marijuana is legalized. There's a great deal of ignorance about this country, practiced by people from every nation. That's why Canadians need to stick together, only we understand.Canada.

  • @Aetheilas Im British and never heard any dipshit come out with any of the rubbish you listed. Can you please tell me were you heard this or did you just make it up in your head?

  • @soulofthenorth

I've been to the UK twice and met several people like that. My mother's been there three times, and she met the same kind of people. We were mostly in London, Liverpool and Southampton. It's a beautiful country, but I just couldn't get along with such ignorant people.

  • @Aetheilas Im from the North near Manchester and scousers and especially London (and the south as a whole) are known for there ignorance. Next time visit a city like Newcastle, you will be shocked at how warm hearted most northern cities are compared to the south cities. Scousers are a different kettle of fish and even fellow Northerners dont like them.

  • @soulofthenorth Nice objective analysis from a manc

  • @soulofthenorth I think you'll find scousers very friendly unless you go around spouting arrogant nonsense like this in a manc or cockney accent. Scouse not English

  • @YFiiP 'I think you'll find scousers very friendly' 'Scouse not English'

I had to lol at the huge contradiction. This is why no one takes scousers seriously.

  • @soulofthenorth What's that got to do with being unfriendly? Please explain the contradiction.

  • @soulofthenorth You, a manc, were just slagging off other Englishmen.

  • @YFiiP Im not a manc, about 30 miles from manchester, Im from a city in central Lancashire...

  • This should be the anthem. To all saying "Canada was founded on multiculturalism" shut up. This country was created and is still ruled by white people. Face it, it is a fact. Every leader has been white.

  • Hey folks, what's the name of the piece starting at approx 1:05? Thanks in advance and God bless Canada.

  • @YagyuDB Its Alberta Bound written by Gordon Lightfoot.

  • @Prairielander Thank you very much!

  • Americans should all move to Canada, its Environmentally Friendly, Has a Higher IQ, Beautiful Scenery, Gay Friendly, No Discrimination what so ever. Our Glorious Commonwealth! God Save the Queen! - From Australia.

  • @TehSiggs I have to diss agree with you friend. Canada was founded by Multiculturalism and it is the only way we can become stronger. God save our Queen and the Commonwealth realms! I know I quoted this from the guy above but it works.

  • God save the Queen and the Commonwealth Realms! No one can defeat us! Not Terrorists! Not North Korea! Not Iran! Not Russia! Not China! No no-one!

  • @owen82100 and especially not the AMERICANS.

  • @mcaddicts I didn't add them for two reasons

    1. They are our Allies

    2. They can defeat us, They already did how do you think they came to exist?

  • @owen82100 they have never defeated Canada, what history books have you'v been book learning from. they only defeated Britain with help from France.

  • @mcaddicts I said they can, i didn't say they did.

  • @owen82100 and way to contradict your self if no no-one can defeat us then why do you now argue the americans could and apparently have which i still don't understand. nice try but epic fail bud

  • @mcaddicts Sorry that was a typo, no one can defeat us except for the USA. I still never said they did defeat us.

  • @owen82100 yeah you did i already re quoted when you said they did defeat us, that's how they came to be. By the way great patriotism you treacherous piece of shit.

  • @mcaddicts I am very patriotic, except with patriotism comes fucking Logic. The USA have 11 Aircraft Carriers and more Nuclear weapons then the commonwealth combined..

  • @owen82100 yet they have never won a single war on their own.

  • @mcaddicts Panama War, American-Mexican War, American Civil War, Philippine-American War. All on there own.

  • My grandfathers would have foguth in both World Wars, but they were farmers. They had to feed the troops.

  • If immigrants come here, they better merge with society, not kill us with their mini societies.

  • this instills more pride in me!My family came here in 1634 from france and the rest 1754 from northern ireland my grandfather fought under this flag and anthem pisses me off it was changed

  • @RaGDollxEffecT I first heard this song back in 2006 on History Channel's documentary series "For King and Empire", which chronicles Canadian Soldiers and the Canadian Corps during WW1. It was used in the opening and closing credits, and I would always look forward to the song being played. This is exactly how I first heard it, and I though I would never hear it again. Thanks for putting it on! :)

  • My Great Grandfather was a 48th Highlander from Toronto...How proud I am....

  • Long Live the Dominion of Canada!!!

  • Long live our Gracious and strong Commonwealth!

    - Australia.

  • I dunno if america would ever launch an invasion on canada ever again, i mean they would have to deal with 7 million quebeckers and about Million newfies, that alone scares the shit out of me and i am canadian...

  • @rctsos yeah, look in toronto. everyone is chinese.

  • THE MAPLE LEAF FOREVER!

  • now this should be the national anthem

  • @castlehastle actually it was before canadas independence

  • @castlehastle thats what iv'e been saying it sounds way more happy and patriotic than Oh Canada. no offense to our great nation. but really!

  • Come Remembrance Day - Stand at attention and honour the fallen, our own family members and your friends, for the ultimate sacrifice so that you may complain about your over-taxed freedom - which is a hell of a lot more than 3/4 of this blue/green marble can witness in their repressed squalor and diseased homelands for which we try to help. Indeed - The Maple Leaf Forever.

  • To Yoshuayovel: Actually we did no such thing. Most of us actually find it more patriotic than the O Canada. Just give us the Radian lyrics and we'd be fine with it...

  • I heard this song on for king and Empire! A good choice for this. Very patriotic!

  • Damnit! Quebecois came and stop us from turning this piece of beautiful art into national anthem!

  • @Yoshuayovel Well you know, i live in Quebec and frankly, i concur. This SHOULD be our anthem. Maybe add some lyrics about the french so my fellow French-Canadian don't whine and there you go.

  • @stipuleddemon Thank you my dear friend. I plan to study in McGill in 2013. Well Quebec is Canada, too.

  • @rctsos Exactly finally someone who is smart.

  • Vimy Ridge wasn't even that nice.

  • @rctsos Well said.....multi-culturalism is killing us.

  • I love this song, and I'm not even Canadian. It's such a beautiful, stirring song.

  • Great tune written by Alexander Muir, an Orangeman. The only song that defines what Canada is for me. "In days of yore, from Britain's shore, Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came And planted firm Britannia's flag On Canada's fair domain. Here may it wave, our boast our pride And, joined in love together, The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine The Maple Leaf forever! The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear, The Maple Leaf forever! God save our Queen and Heaven bless The Maple Leaf forever!"
  • I can just see our boys rolling through narrow streets triumphantly with thousands of liberated people in awe as we march on to VICTORY ! God bless our heros, they live on forever.

  • These lyrics cover the first part of the song, no chorus. Just wrote them to honour our Vets from WW1&2 We heard the call, and bravely came, Across the ocean cold and grey We took our stand, In the wounded land And faced the invaders. In Flanders Fields, On Vimy Ridge, Across the dark Somme Valley, We stood our ground for freedom’s cause The Maple Leaf forever. When war again reached to her shores, We sailed away to England. On Normandy’s beach, a victory won The Maple Leaf Forever.
  • THIS SHOULD BE THE REAL ANTHEM...THUMBS UP IF U THINK THIS SHOULD BE THE REAL ANTHEM..

  • @goldendude1994

The only reason it isn't is because it's not politically correct

  • @goron152 define politically correct...

  • @goldendude1994 "In days of yore, from Britain's shore,

    Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came

    And planted firm Britannia's flag

    On Canada's fair domain."

Not exactly giving credit where credit is due to french Canadians.

  • @goron152 France abandoned the Quebecois to the British. All land under Quebecois rule was passed over to Britain. So yes it does give credit just not directly.

  • @DavManCometh Yeah, Quebecois people don't like the continental French, and vice versa.

  • @Anghellik9 From what I've seen (completely generally) they don't seem to like much of anyone really. The European French abandoned them, the British oppressed them, mainstream Canadina society is a threat to their culture, immigrants are outsiders and also a threat and in their eyes everyone else is out to kill their language. This year they shifted from Bloc to NDP though. I don't know why; they just shifted from a left party to a far left party which can only help the common person.

  • @goldendude1994 It's a beautiful song but NO! Why change something that works and is also a beautiful song (O Canada that is)? plus O Canada is accepted by pretty much everyone so let's not change the anthem.

  • @goldendude1994 its a military march. thats why it was rejected as the anthem, and should be. it has its place in the military, and should be shown respect. but canada isnt about fighting.

  • @canadianreserve It was written in 1867 as a national song and was used as a national anthem. It became used in the military much later. The song talks about moments in Canada's history. The capturing of Quebec and something that should be remembered since its the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. The war made sure Canada would exist and remain in British North America. At the time it was written Canada again was facing skirmishes with Fenian Americans along its borders.

  • O, land of blue unending skies, Mountains strong and sparkling snow, A scent of freedom in the wind, O'er the emerald fields below. To thee we brought our hopes, our dreams, For thee we stand together, Our land of peace, where proudly flies, The Maple Leaf forever. Chorus: Long may it wave, and grace our own, Blue skies and stormy weather, Within my heart, above my home, The Maple Leaf forever!
  • I want this anthem back and the red ensign..

  • why is this not our national anthem?

  • tks for this video, i don't mind listening to this all day, its even more better to listen to mass bands of the 48 th, since im a ex member of the 48 th Highlanders of Canada

  • @rctsos Canada is great because the whole is much more than the sum of it's parts. To say that one culture is inherently superior to another may work for the States, but it is not our way.

  • @xelnagahomie I still think we should promote and encourage the bedrock of our Country which is our colonial past and allegiance to the Queen. Our Country has an indisputably stronger connection to the United Kingdom then any other immigrant nation and there is nothing wrong with remembering and reminding people of that. But you are right what makes this country better than most is our acceptance of others, but we shouldn't compromise our heritage to accommodate others.

  • @ccAshercc Alright, I'm all for pride and stuff. Just none of the "nyah nyah we were here first" crap that plagues our neighbours to the south.

  • @ccAshercc what about australia and new zealand?

  • Apparently the song originally included a reference to lilies (for the French Canadians) but it was removed due to complaints.

However, Quebécois largely do not wish to separate from Canada, but they will if ignorant English Canadians keep associating French Canada with separatism. It is, thankfully, a minority that seeks separation, and Canadians have a right to hate that despicable scum, but no right to generalize all French Canadians so rudely.

  • @Gustaveleloup Quebec wants to seperate? Fine, goodbye. Have a good life. I have been hearing that lame ass threat from that whiny province for far too long. If you are gonna seperate, then do it. If not, then STFU.

  • For the newly married prince!

  • This song truly transfixes my heart. This song, while it may be perceived to be offensive or disrespectful for some, actually represents the backbone of Canada. The original, "British favoured" lyrics tell of the nation's beautiful past, and a story of hard work and diligence, and not intended to harm others. Think of the Loyalists, who fought and died for King and Country, or the soldiers at Vimy Ridge. It means more to them than what anyone else could make of it. God save the Queen!

  • Canada is a wonderful country, with an amazingly rich culture created from a blend of the Acadians, the French, the English, the Scottish, the Irish, Etc. It's quite unique, and it's something all Canadians should be proud of, even the minority of both English speaking and French speaking Canadians who spend their life being rude to one another and pretending like either groups didn't have a crucial role in what Canada is today. Being proud and stopping the hate is important, IMO.

  • @spinnerkatze O, land of blue unending skies, Mountains strong and sparkling snow, A scent of freedom in the wind, O'er the emerald fields below.
  • @spinnerkatze That's right, I live in gatineau and Everytime I hear my fellow quebecors complain aboot other canadians being biggots, I feel sorry for their igniorance. Lets united, frome the French in Alberta to the English in Québec City, lets fight our common ennemy: The Americans.

  • @spinnerkatze Don't you forget the natives who were here before, or the MILLIONS of Japanese, Chinese and Indians that immigrated. or the people of African decent that fled here when the U.S. wouldn't give up slavery. COme to think of it there's not one culture in the world that doesn't have a role here....you can go on and on....

  • Ive played this song everyday since i moved to Korea! gad damn i miss home.

    God save the Queen!

  • at the 1:00 mark, the tune actually goes into Gordon Lightfoots, Alberta Bound then back to the Maple Leaf Forever at 2:00

  • i would rather stand and solute to the first minute of this then this bullshit anthem we have now

  • Back off USA or else we will go Moose shit on your ass :)

  • @rctsos then dont vote liberal

  • Canada, Beautiful, Honest. Well Meaning, Subtle, Modest (this is a joke, I am canadian myself)

  • All due respect to our country and it's soldiers but i would rather have this as our national anthem it's more patriotic!

  • This is the great Dr. McKean's Arrangement. His original was a medley with Vive le Canadienne. Just add the Minstrel Boy.

  • I totally agree.....!

  • My favourite marching song. Calling cadence is never a problem with the maple leaf blasting away.

  • Toronto Maple Leafs Forever? I think so

  • It's got the same patriotic power as Flower of Scotland

  • why isn't this our anthem? the one we've got now is too bloody liberal - trying to please all the ethnic minorities. Lets not be afraid to show our roots!

  • imagine if they played this when crosby scored on the gold medel game!!!! insane anthem, best of em all! Support our troops Canada!!! Its a meaningless war for some and a job for them so give them the credit they deserve, no politics on the ground for them! just a job!

  • I finally realize that we do have a patriotic song! GO CANADA!

  • I believe that if the French are not happy with Canada's British roots, they should go back to France. Nobody is forcing them to stay in Canada. Thats like if we imigrated to France and started telling them how we want them to run their country.

  • @SeaCadet263 fuck off squid....the french were here second after the aboriginals. You came to the party late and started bossing everyone around....see India, USA etcc. Get off your soapbox. In ten years we'll both be outnumbered by new immigrants anyway.

  • @SeaCadet263

  • @SeaCadet263 That is true. Although there a small part of Canada they dictate allot of what happens in this country it pisses me off because most of them don't even like Canada. Canada would be a way different country if we didn't have the French Canadians here.

  • @mydrumz The French Canadians are a bunch of fuckwits. They should join pussy France if their gonna continue hating on the heritage of Canada.

  • @barricader6 if they keep hating on the heritage of Canada ? are you plain stupid ? the french canadian are the heart of Canada idiot , why should they hate their own heritage ? besides a looot of famous people are from french canadian descent , hilary clinton , angelina jolie , avril lavigne , besides hockey was invented by a french canadian , so stfu

  • @xNapoleonBx They fucking changed Canada.

  • @barricader6 SOME of them, not all of them.

  • @barricader6 france is a canadian ally, they are not pussy's, they have won more wars than canada and the usa have been in combined. i have zero french ancestry, but you could definately do worse.

  • @SeaCadet263 I agree. I do not like how the French Canadians have to keep on bitching about everything. Without the French Canadians, I assure you that the Red Ensign would still be in use.

  • @SeaCadet263 Except the French were here first (well, second, the first nations were here first)...so your argument is kinda dumb.

  • Awesome video, thanks

  • Screw the whining of the French, this should be our national anthem.

  • @canadianmaple09 My Grandad (British) moved to toronto in 1912, and fought with the CEF at Ypres and Passchendaele. He regarded them as the best of the best. God bless Canada. Nigel, London

  • This is NOT the entire song at 0:59 it switches to Gordon Lightfoot's 'Alberta Bound' then back to The Maple Leaf Forever at 1:59

  • Comment removed

  • PROUD CANADIAN!!!

  • LOVE the 'pipes

  • I dont like it when it is sung but played with bagpipes make it AWESOME

  • Canada is no longer a Dominion

but i agree should be our anthem

  • @DWSaldanha What are you talking about?

  • Yes, this is the Real Anthem...and, the real Maple Leaf is on the Headstones in France.

  • God bless Canada !

  • Scots ans Canadians. One and the same

  • This is what they play during the credits of 'For King and Country'

  • @canadianelite42 I fucking loved that series, FREDRICK CANNON SCOTT FTW.

  • I'm a Canadian Army Cadet, and playing this song in my Cadet Parade (: LONG LIVE CANADA.

  • @ransid55 What rank are you?

  • @u452u I just Joined a couple weeks ago, Still A Cadet until I get promoted to Private. (:

  • This sounds great on Bagpipes!

  • @SeaCadet263 u sea cadet, ima air cadet. lmao ura Puddle Pirate

  • @u452u You're a shit hawk.

  • @SeaCadet263 Acctually, im a Pidgon

  • @u452u You're both.

  • @u452u whats a pidgon?

  • @XxModernDayRaiderxX its what the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, and the Royal Canadian Army Cadets call the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. and the Army cadets and Air Cadets call the Sea Cadets "Puddle Pirates"

  • @u452u 676 kittyhawk FTW!!! :)

  • I don't care what anyone else says, this is the ONLY way to listen to this song.

  • @aranelluna42 I agree. I've heard it played differently and with lyrics, those were good, but bagpipes are just awesome.

  • Whats with the Scottish flag on its own at the end with the Canadian one lol :/

  • The goal --to have this Band and The Royal Regimental Band of Canada, march into Gettysburg , Pa as the 150TH Anniversary of the eve of our civil war is soon ending . 2011 marks the date. The time to unite our nations' has arrived. 50,000 strong you came to keep this Fray off your native soil 26 members of a Nation who were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, and plenty more. Thanks is not enough...

  • @MrDanmeyers

Ever seen the statue of General Brock in Niagara on the Lake? Ever heard of a group called the loyalists whom American patriots tarred and feathered and stole their farms just because they refused to support a revolution built on lies? These are the reasons we will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER unite our nations. So thanks, but no thanks.

AT QUEENSTON HEIGHTS AND LUNDY'S LANE,

OUR BRAVE FATHERS SIDE BY SIDE

FOR FREEDOM HOMES AND LOVED ONES DEAR

FIRMLY STOOD AND THEN NOBLY DIED

  • @MrDanmeyers ...wow...this is weird. As a Canadian History major this is the first I've ever heard of this. *scratches his head* I mean, we were still British at the time, who was still deciding whether or not to enter the war on either side (most likely the south) so I don't see how Canada could have sent 50,000 troops (the population of Canada at the time was only about 3,000,000 so that's um...huge to say the least. Wow...I can't find records of us doing that anywhere...

  • @medicboy89 look harder . 06/1862 the 10th Regiment of the Royal Grenadiers was formed . I and several active officers and NCOs of the RRegmt C Band have compiled the list .Including those who died and are buried in Gettysburg, Pa. contact me with an e-mail address and it will be sent. About 6 years of research. Actually you were still under the Crown of .Wales British North America became officially known as Canada in July 1965.. I was in Ottawa to watch it happen .The Maple Leaf forever.

  • @MrDanmeyers You mean 10th Regiment, Royal Grenadiers. The princes and princesses of Whales happen to be members of the Royal family of the U.K. Hence Canada was under British control. We ceased to be under british control summer 1867 (officially July 1st.) Also, I'm going state it again, 50, 000 Canadians would show up some where. My brother studies Gettysburg, if that many Canadians were there he'd know as well. So uh, yeah. There were probably Canadians there but they served in US regiments.

  • @medicboy89 You better dig deeper,,and I'd not boast of your brother attending this college. . 3,033 citizens of British North America died on July 1 , 2 7 3 1865 ,,,,,in Gettysburg,,The Gettysburg National Military Park as it was title back in 1918.

  • @MrDanmeyers Right calling you out. MLA citation please. And I didn't say he studied there I said he studdied the battle itself. Also a history student.

  • @MrDanmeyers Slightly different story. BNA citizens probably did die because there were some who joined on or the other side of the conflict. I am, however, calling you out. MLA citation please. And I didn't say he studied there I said he studdied the battle itself. Also a history student.

  • @medicboy89 I can't cite the thousands of documents I've researched. You can contact the Adjutant t at the Royal Regiment of Canada Ft York Armory, Toronto ,Ont. Or wait from my article to read , as it is being published in "Citizens Companion " nov /Dec 2010 edition. FACT, 3,033 Canadians died on the Battlefield on July 3, 1863. Over 100,000 of the Men & WOMEN of Canada fought in this WAR. And as for Gettysburg College...Oh yea... Big Playground

  • @MrDanmeyers

Well, first of all it's called the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) not the Royal Regiment of Canada, and second of all, I find that unlikely, since our population in 1863 (before Confederation) was around 1-2 million max, and 100,000 would be 5-10% of our population.

  • @medicboy89 actually in 1867 Canada became a Dominion, no longer a dependant colony, it was ruled like a province of the UK rather than a imperial colony. and yes Canada had its fun during the american civil war, we sent soldiers to the yankees, we sent saboteurs to both sides, we armed both sides and fed them too, had it not been for the British Empire, the civil war would have ended much sooner.

  • @MrDanmeyers Boy you really are n the dark. April 11 ,1865 The Provinces of canada came to be until July 1, 1965 you became commonwealth of Canada.. See Canadians in U.s civil War. The first to enter the fray at Bull Run were Kilted Regiments.

  • @MrDanmeyers

Wow, that couldn't be more inaccurate. Confederation occurred on July 1st, 1867, as the BNA act was signed. And we were never called the Commonwealth of Canada, we were a Dominion. You take fake facts very seriously; you must be a Palin supporter,

  • @MrDanmeyers

Wow, I don't even know where to start picking you apart.

    A) There is no such thing as a "Crown of Wales"

    B) The term dominion of Canada was used since 1867

    C) The term Canada as a political official name was used since 1791 and the formation of Upper/Lower Canada

    D) 1965 was nothing more than creating a new flag

    E) We still have a crown, which is not of Wales

    F) Perhaps you were in Ottawa on the ganja in the groovy 60's, since, your facts are so blatantly wrong.

  • @MrDanmeyers you need a god damn life get a girl friend (ugly, fat trolls dont count) and work out you weak scrawny bitch

  • Amazing, Greatest Country and People in the World.

  • Oh Canada Our Home and Native Land. The True North Stong and Free. Fantastic 48th Highlanders of Toronto. Go Leafs GO!

  • Wow! What an awe inspiring tribute to the beautiful land of Canada. The bagpipes scream hereditory pride into the veins of those who love this magnificient nation; and inspire those of Quebec, the 78th Frasier who lived and settled among the great French people in this province. I am stuck in the middle, my mom is Scot and my dad is Francais; together with love for Canada, we make it work. Thanks/Merci to the poster. God Bless Canada and our Queen. Peace.

  • @BearyHairy I agree with you this is a great piece as man times as I have been to Canada I have never heard this untill now my familly is mixed too but between being from I believe Quebeq and Louisiana(I know a strange combination)both French Canadian and Cajun ouch LOL I do have alot of Pride everytime I set foot on Canadian soil more than my American pride latelly

  • Performed by the Bagpipes this can be a very haunting tune.

  • This rousing old melody ought to be our anthem. Lose the archaic, imperialist lyrics (or just change them) but keep the tune. Magnificent.

  • @rexmundi2012 what No keepp them the way they are!

  • @rexmundi2012 the problem is that it is too militaristic. an anthem should promote unity through idealism, not through a horrible time in canadian history

  • @canadianreserve It's not a horrible time in Canadian History, and almost all anthems are militaristic, when this one is in fact really...

  • Our fair Dominion now extends from Cape Race to Nootka Sound....... wonderful

  • Excellent music, excellent pictures. Well done!

  • I still consider this our true national anthem.

  • @Pucamann SAME! Though do you also find it sounds more genuine and fitting on the pipes?

  • @blyson Though I have heard other versions with different instruments, the pipes are certainly stirring. The bold music, the fitting words. . .it embodies that old time Canadian spirit
