The could have auctioned pieces of that stadium off. And probably sold the whole thing piece by piece. A row of benches to some park.Kids baseball fields. Bars and restaraunts, individual people that watch their games. There is probably enough history to have done that. Now that I think about it. They would have asked too much for each individual piece for the money.Instead of saving some history and building an even bigger fan base. But of course some rich f***er probably got some of it for free
@OnaBoat2007 agreed man the old yankee stadium was still in good shape too. after they closed the stadium they closed years and years of amazing moments in baseball in a door and locked it. it was a real shame to watch the old stadium go
Even though I am not at all a Yankee fan, I have mad respect for the person who decided to KEEP the name Yankee Stadium instead of going with a cooperate name like all the new stadiums are going with...
I went to that game too haha. I was on a trip, starting from D.C., (following the Angels on a roadtrip) and I went to see Camden Yards (Orioles), Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium. Im just trying to think what I did that day.
I sat in front of a bunch of guys on a road trip just as yours. Did you sit in the second level on just a bit beyond the 1st base side? I was wearing my Casey Kotchman jersey and he was just released from the ANGELS to the BRAVES the previous day for Texiera.
WOAH! I was on the second level but looking down the 3rd base line..so I was on the 1st base side, but closer to homeplate, right next to the pressbox. I'll send you a picture. Do you have an email?
Poor Yankee Fans. You Yankee Fans have "issues". The Pittsburgh Pirates destroyed you in the 1960 World Series on the Bill Mazorowski Home-run. You still didn't get over The Bill Mazorouski Home-run which destroyed "The Yankees". The Bucs beat the pinstripes and whip the tar out of "The Yankees". Too Bad......Ask Yogi Berra.

nice place, but either way they suck lol , we need to build a new stadium just next door to the new one, boooooring!!!! at least have it facing a new direction, i thought the empire state was gonna be in the view, what a jip!!!! just like mets stadium losers right next door
Most baseball stadiums all face the same direction. They try to build stadiums so that the sun and shadows don't play all too much of a role as the sun goes down. Citi Field actually went away from this a little bit and doesn't face the same direction as Shea did.
uhm they build it next door for certain reasons one being that its faster to build a new one as they tear down the old one. they always do this.
as for people saying it looks the same...thats just the dumbest shit ive ever heard. go there in person and see for yourself how ridiculously beautiful it is. its a stadium from the future...baseball has entered a new era for the yankees.
i like the old stadium the new one sucks

Not Facade - I meant Frieze.

Great Video
Not really Old Yankee - Old Yankee was gone decades ago.
I really liked Old Yankee Stadium with the Large Facade.
New Yankee is just not Old Yankee.

The day Yankee Stadium closed was the day the Yankees ceased to be the Yankees anymore. The Yankees are just any other team now.

I can't believe they would get rid of the old yankee stadium, so much history there. MLB is a joke.
