  • "Today [2008] 95% of the engineering needed to build the stations and space planes seen in the movie '2001' has already been developed..." Looks like we missed our deadline.

  • Don't worry guys, what NASA and US can't do - China will, Look at "China In Space" here on youtube

  • NASA need more brain, their research takes forever.

  • Won't it be a while before middle class people can go into space, I mean that shit is expensive, it costs 10,000$ to put a pound of anything into space

  • NASA is future :D

  • Sadly, I see that a space program is not something that the banks or the people that control those banks want. A space program like this would take too many people out of their plans. Please look at what the "New World Order" wants to have happen. If they would open their eyes, they would see this as the best, most peaceful way of reducing Earth's population. Sadly, they won't open them.

  • remember that time when America quit on science? yeah, that was a good day... yay for Republican budget cuts!

  • I like how this video was already teo years out of date by the time it was posted.

  • to bad the space shuttle was decommitioned

  • This used to be the future. Sigh.

I disagree with the guy who said "Hey, let's give NASA unlimited funding," however. NASA's budget is huger than it's ever been, and as of next month we'll have no means of putting people in orbit (Short of buying a ticket on a Russian capsule). Soooooo.....not a lot of faith there.

  • @RepublibotThreePoint Why not? why wont we be able to put people into orbit as of next month? I'm just curious. Hasn't president Obama increased the budget for NASA as well? Also has this project even started if not when will it?

  • @Persason: Well, firstly Obama killed the Constellation project, so we've got no manned space launch capability, nor are we even developing any new manned spacecraft. Effectively we're out of the people-in-space business for a decade or so. Secondly, while NASA's budget is higher than it's ever been, none of that new money is going to spaceflight. It's going to education, PR, entertainment facilities....not space.

  • This is a great project. 100 shuttle flights? An actual fleet of shuttles. Organized and amortized comparatively to airline business models? The technical aspects are doable, getting banks and insurance companies on board... If you had $50 billion in capital you could do all this? May even $20 billion and did it outside the US?

  • @granddad2002: Wouldn't it be easier to dispense with the sidemounting entirely, and just go with a straight stack? Take a Saturn V type vehicle, with some SRBs strapped on. Stage three could be a 'wet workshop' kind of thing to be drained in orbit, and the cargo could be a 'dry' habitat, ready to go when it hits orbit. So you could do two external-tank-sized things at once, just like this, but in a far technically simpler fashion.

  • If we started a commercial space industry where companies would compete for space travel and space station-building and colonies and such, the competition would lead to a greater space boom than it has for computers and cars. NASA is doing great with giving us a head start, but eventually, it will (hopefully) be bought out buy private space corporations, saving the government money and allowing for more space-related innovation and advancement.

  • hahahhahahahhaha LOL LOL LOL!!! in 2006. rofl

  • That's impossible you can't have gravity like that!I just found out that if it was spinning you go the same speed as the spacecraft is spinning. Then you will float away in the vehicle.

  • @123tonysony So? Don't move at the same speed as the spacecraft is spinning then.

  • RIP shuttle

  • I agree with Obama though, private funding is where NASA will really get its money. In a perfect world, all of our resources would be going to NASA, but there are rivalries on Earth that require our funds to go toward military defense

  • But WHy would you want to live on the very edge of the earths protective shell ?

Good Morning Richmond this morning a solar flare whiped out Space island at 4 am this morning the leaders of many countries deeply invested into space island sent there condolences !!

  • @citizenlyfe its called radiation shields we have them

  • @SFXKID210 Radiation shielding can't deflect all solar radiation, though. Physical shielding only goes so far. Plasma shields are necessary for total safety.

  • @Aphradonis yea tht is right, we neec thoses

  • fuck money, lets spend all of it in space

  • Nasa instead of the cheat fast way they always go for the costly stuff. back in the 70's with skylap this was cheap and when it was damaged in launch well they did fix it in orbit they could have kept it in orbit by sending a cheap boaster but no let it fall. the skylap could have other things added to it.cheaply

  • I'de like to believe this; but I can't. The real reason why we still don't have cities on the moon and 300m rotating-wheel space stations is that we failed to slash the cost of putting 1 kg into orbit a hundrefold, which is what Arthur Clarke and Stanley Kubrick hoped would happen by the year 2001. It's not the lack of funding. It's the failure of the shuttle program to deliver it's promise of cheap, routine and airplane-like access to orbit.

  • I just want to point out that NASA was given the budget of 17 billion dollars in 2008, NASA has enough money to do anything they want but they lack the ambition to do more..

Russia, Other countries and Ungovernmental Companies are doing much better then NASA has ever accomplished in my opnion.

    -The Space Island Project.

    -Bigelow Aerospace.

    -Virgin Galactic.

These are just one of few companies which are accomplishing feats that NASA has still yet to do.

But like i say this is all in my opinion :)

  • I love the Earth :) Our planet is better!

  • @ffuuuucccckk meh..

  • @MultiIPwnage wut ?

  • @ffuuuucccckk the awsomeness of our planet is only tempoary though :(

  • thats dangerous too imagine if terrorist get there hands on it they could blow it up O.O

  • in one of them they need a battle room from Ender's game!

  • @miniwars123 omg i love that booook :D

  • этот плейлист у меня забился окончательно

  • "The government needs to give NASA more money!!!" That's part of the problem but giving a fed-funded organization more money won't help at all if that org has no direction or ambition.

Sure we could cut military spending by one quarter and have more than enough to fund this kind of project and have a little left over for domestic concerns, but the science and progress hating republicans would throw a tantrum if that happened.

  • The closest thing I've seen to this now has been Bigalow Aerospace's design, except that it uses inflatable parts to build a large space station.

It's not a wheel, though. Perhaps they or some other big player will make a wheel.

  • I want a space station.

  • stupid fucking government cares more about giveing people free money. nasa isnt just about SPACE. it made microwaves sattlite tvs and even wifi

  • Using the fuel tanks to build the station? That's brilliant! It's too bad they didn't do this, all those wasted ETs.

  • These projects are only for the Elites. And they make their own money out of Federal Reserves because, they own it. Trillions without oversight. AIPAC is the ultimate ruler and leader of all special projects coming out of NASA etc. If you're a Gentile you're screwed and it's not healthcare or unemployment. It's the Zionist Israeli Jews who are working only for themselves and making Gentiles serve them in every way beyond comprehension. Billions to Israel! And American lives.

  • Sigh. we waste are money on things like "free healthcare" and "unemployment" and "welfare" oh yes and foreign oil even though we have enough to tell the towalheads to suck it.

  • THIS is not for u stupid assholes but for the elites !!!! U will die here with the rest !!

  • dammit I wish that all the Star Trek and Star WArs technology was already here!

  • nobody ever bothers about living underwater. thats a frontier we could have. tiny civilizations scattered underwater

  • Any current news about this project?

  • This event will be so massive underground basis are not expected to survive. Ourter space facilities would have been ideal but, this event will reach everything in this Galaxy. The Elite have prepared themselves but, even they are in danger. We should have done more to utilized the HAARP project. The 25000 yr alignment and the 3600 yr passing by of X is the lethal combination that will take place at the same time. And that is what is the most deadly combo.

  • Outer space facilities already exist. For the elite. Prepared for the 2012 meteor event and Planet X. Underground Military bases are an alternative for those who cannot make it outer space and for those who have to remain here to maintain all the equipment, ships, jets, etc. that are being stored in these bases. The more of humanity eliminated the better for them to exist a lot easier. It totally sucks dude.

Have you gotten a letter saying there is a spot for you?I didn't think so.Only for them.

  • @jowescot Yes indeed(i got the letter last week), and i will be on board the secret space habitat located behind the moon which was secretly build during the last decades by the collaboration between the nazi space amazons and these reptile folks which live underground or something. Sucks for you to stay here on earth and waiting for the end of ze world (in front of you computer) while i will chill in outers pace and slurp my Pan-Galactic Gargleblaster. Man this will be awesome.

  • @jowescot Exactly !!!! Those stupids asking morfe money to be given to NASA imagine this will be for them..what a naivity !!!! This is for THEM !!! They will watch at the worlds human killing each other for water and anything to eat. !!!

Wake up bunch of lambs !!!! U ARE NOT FROM THE ELITES !!!

Thanks jowescot for such a pertinent comment !

  • The Obama administration just cut our manned space program, so we pretty much just flushed 50 years of work and trillions of dollars down the tubes.

As much as I hate to say it, this isn't going to happen. Back to the drawing board.

  • Not going to happen until corporations start building their own space crafts, which may not happen ever. As neat as it sounds, both politicians and entrepeneurs would be too stingy with their money than to invest in such a program.

  • What a bogus film things like this never succeed. Haha in 2006. So this was made in 2002.

  • It makes sense to utilise everything that is put into orbit as it costs about 10,000$ per kilogram just to get it there.

  • May I please know which year this video was released????

  • Nasa are an unambitious bunch of wankers.

What do they actually do? Richard Branson has achieved more than they have in their entire joke of a history.

  • My favorite part is the referrence to having this mostly done by 2006! Is it up there some where? and where can I buy my €100,000,000 ticket?

  • but why anti-gravity? When its all said and done, some wise guy on one of these ships is going to yell "its go time", hits the de-gravity button and peoples are going to start floating again. and they're going to like it! and the guy in the shower is going "awe hell!"

  • can Artificial Gravity be generated Electronically ?

  • yes it can, movment causes gravity

  • WOW

  • Only bring the smartest and most well suited for the job. We can't risk anything bad happening.

  • DIPSTICK JIMMY!!!!

  • lol

  • Need a world space agency

  • Think of everything NASA could do if we just gave them unlimited amounts of money. Space IS the future of humanity.

  • hehe its not that easy ya know :}

  • we should build spaceships instead of tanks and aircraft carriers

  • Well said!

  • @maggru91 yep you are so right!!!! ^ ^

  • @maggru91 even better: think of everything Virgin Galactic could do with unlimited amounts of money.

  • @maggru91 Absolutely! I read somewhere that a mere 0.1 percent of the U.S. federal budget goes toward funding NASA programs. That's virtually NOTHING. Unbelievable that some people still want the NASA budget to be cut back further on account of it being "too expensive". I'd wager that allocating more money for space exploration is one of the best uses of money imaginable! Sure beats bailing out a bunch of fat, rich, arrogant b(w)ankers.

  • @maggru91 If only everyone thought this way :C

  • @maggru91 Private businesses who are not government funded can make bettter spacecraft than the government. Just imagine cars only being build by the government and how expensive personal use would be.

  • @maggru91 ya kidding right? They'd just hire more people to complain that they don't have enough money.

  • global warming???? we face extincition if we somehow dont fix that...

  • First pictures are from a film, arent they?

  • 2001 space odissey i think

  • is this even possible?

  • yea

  • The government needs to give NASA more money!!!

  • @TheGrayWolf96 ...if taxpayers could EARMARK their PERSONAL tax dollars to the project of their choice, instead of it all going into a huge POOL to be drawn from, the SPACE AGENCY would have UNLIMITED capital with which to operate. I'm convinced that the MAJORITY of money making FREE THINKING Americans want a SPACE program for this country. I do NOT like Omamba's idea of CHANGE.

  • @TheGrayWolf96 Tuh, NASA is just a cover up, for the governments real space programs.

  • @TheGrayWolf96

    The gov is nasa

  • @TheGrayWolf96

Yeah, but that's why there so limited, its a government corp dude. I kno it sucks mann

  • @TheGrayWolf96 to bad we owe china 17.4 trillion dollars.

  • The military should be halved and more money poured into NASA.

  • That's not a bad idea actually!

  • yep, NASA gets 1 billion from gov annually, and pre-Iraq defense budget was 545 billion, lordy knows what it is now-2 billion a week was it?

  • A thousand was destroyed yet. Why they didn't had that idea before????

  • nasa is not gonna do shit.

  • Sorry, they've been taking about this stuff since the 60's. And we haven't been able even realize a fraction. Where does this project plan to get the money for all this when the whole world is in an financial tail-spin?

  • This video was made before the current tailspin.

  • "money"

  • The Space Shuttle Costs billions to operate. It is very good to have beautiful ambitions but this seems ridiculous.

  • fowoar tollaar

  • i see why it would be rotating, since rotation creates centrafugal force, we can use that for a form of gravity (babylon 5 anyone?)

  • He means space civilization, because witht he way we messed up the earth we gonna have to leave, long as i have plants around me ill be allright
