  • Micha Haran, the principal cellist in IPO is absolute stunning! this is so beautiful

  • wow.....

  • brilliant!!

  • great! but sometimes the accompaniment has a tendency to speedup.

  • Look at all those lucky bastards faces...

  • Is that a pencil sticking out of his head? Even geniuses are idiots.

  • @CamSavWin troll

  • @CamSavWin It's a conductor's baton being stored behind his ear.

  • i have to play this... i'm actually a drummer but my mother has a guitar to and i'm going to start playing guitar only for this.. love it

  • so much emotion =)

  • Meravigliosamente geniale..."BOMEC"....

  • I would have said that this was the most incredible performance I'd ever seen if I hadn't just seen him (on YouTube) do this with the audience doing the Ave Maria part cold (no rehearsal).

  • I'm so much impressed, never know that somebody can do it so well.

    Wonderful

  • not only did this man have incredible talent but he was very intelligent also ! i guess God did really make perfect people. :)

  • Es sobrehumano!

  • Epic

  • I would think the hardest thing to do that would be to keep a straight face, at least that's how it would be for me lol.

  • Heavenly

  • I love how the guy in the audience at 1:00 is totalllly bored. Like "why did my mother carry me here?"

  • Wow!

  • About half way through this I realized Mr McFerrin had no music while the cello player had music. Just incredible.

  • @D29418 you meant, Bobby McFerrin had no instrument but just did this with his voice?

  • @MioJ1979 No I was thinking about the sheet music actually. Mr McFerrin did his part from memory

  • Also this piece is actually a meditation on the Bach prelude in C, and Bobby sang an A to the 'cellist, so he had to play it in A minor instead of C major which is higher and harder to do for the 'cellist. If he didn't rehearse it beforehand it's quite impressive as he is playing by ear and in a different key than it's originally written!

  • @mellowandy no. it was in C. go find a friend with perfect pitch and he'll confirm it for you. furthermore, it makes no sense whatsoever to transpose a piece in a major key into a minor key.

  • @ch0pin02 it wasn't in c. it was in e-flat.

  • @ch0pin02 No one transposed the piece into a minor key. It's Eb Major.

  • Truly Phenomenal! Bravo Mr. McFerrin!

  • This is way harder than it sounds... he has perfect pitch... respect!

  • zarabisteL:):)

  • He is vastly over-rated. Maybe you are, too?

  • this kid in the background is fighting not to fall asleep. man I wanna punch him in the nose

  • @Spilledesperado i can fall asleep to this

its beautiful how can you not fall asleep to it?

  • @Spilledesperado who would not fall asleep to this its beautiful

  • He is a cool guy who draws people to music, he is imitating nobody.

  • the cello is out of tone

  • @ssss806 out of tone? Did you mean out of tune? And no it isn't, it's bang on. Maybe the quality of the sound throws off your ear. I'm a concert 'cellist and that piece is not as easy as it sounds to play so delicately and flowing like that. I think the 'cellist deserves as much praise as Bobby Mcferrin as he actually played the melody line. Bobby's part, though done well, is accompaniment.

  • @mellowandy it was a joke.... i mean to say that bobby mcferrin was perfect...

  • @ssss806 :) That's why I asked rather than shouting abuse like many do on youtube. Peace

  • that was cool

  • ABSOLUTE PITCH !

  • skyd171

When I say 'I don't know what', it's because I would have to compare him to someone who has minimal talent. I was trying to be polite......but now I won't. This singer is boring, lacks taste, creative but only in creating garbage, and I wouldn't accept anything less than 20k to see him live. And you and your fellow fan club groupies need to go back to birth and start over again.

    Happy Holidays

  • @lanainfla Four octave range, teaches people to appreciate music all around the world, I guess he has minimal talent. By the way, Don't Worry, Be Happy!

  • I wish I had a perfect pitch like that guy...

  • This kind of music, this tune, this sound is me

  • damn i got chills the second his voice made magic

  • being made fun of and loving it

    really loving it

    really

  • Now cello sings ... and voices plays the instrumental line...

  • you think so....I think very boring

  • :)

That's all I need to say.

    :)

  • One of the greatest musical geniuses of our time.

  • How did 34 people mised the like button??

  • 1:10 - is it Noa (Achinoam Nini )?

  • @ankapmt It's looks so...

This show captured in Hichal Hatarbut in Isreal with the Israely Philharmonic Orchestra :)

כתבתי את זה באנגלית כדי להשוויץ בפני העולם איפה צולם בובי בשיאו..חח

  • @ankapmt yes its her.. noticed it too...

  • And the next item up fore bids is Bobby McFerrin's larynx. We'll start the bidding at an amount of money equivalent to the net worth of Bill Gates.

  • i LOVE how everyone in the crowd has a smile on their face..im smiling rite now too :)..:D

  • do you have perfect pitch or something? haha

  • fala serio!

    esse cara eh um genio!!!!

    incrivel o q ele faz!!!!

  • Incredible!!!

  • this guy

  • Amazing!!!

  • I like the crowd participation better :D

  • Shubert's Ave Maria is totally different piece!!! but- also- genial!!!! ... :-)))

  • really amazing :)

  • Only in USA and israel Bach composed this masterpiece. In the civilized world the rights belong to Shubert. Just one word:RedNecks :D

  • @AIexMan I hope you are joking ;p

Schubert's Ave Maria is a completely different piece. And maybe you should check the spelling of Schubert before you call others rednecks! Please let's hope you are joking........

  • which orchestra is this? and what's the cellist's name? hes fantastic.

  • @k73f This is the world renowned Israeli Filharmonic Orchestra.

Can't help you out as to the cellist's name. Sorry.

  • super ce mek wouaaaaaaaaaaa

  • thank you for sharing this video... surely amazing

  • i got goosebumps at 0:00 and they didn't go away till 3:05

  • @JRchill360 I guess that's because you're chill.

  • I am crying!

    So beautiful... what a talent!

  • Wow... oh Wow... I love it. Bobby McFerrin, you're rockin my faith here.

  • LOL..try doing that yourself. It's not easy.

  • goosebumps @ 0:36

  • magnífico!!!

  • who is the cellist?

  • Comment removed

  • Who the hell disliked this?! Screw you guys! This is absolutely incredible.

  • lovely <3

  • Wow amazing vocals just amazing

  • Spellbinding !

  • Because of Bobby's music, the girls at 3:00 have experienced their first orgasms simultaneously.

  • Einzigartig. Respect. RESPECT.

  • @OneBenArmy yeah sure he shouldn't breathe and stuff, sure, sure. I mean it's so slow between each note of course he could breathe so discretly, sure, sure.

He's using his head voice, it uses a lot of air for a man and indeed, it's kind of fast so he can't miss more than one note to breathe and because he has a very powerful mic, you can hear every details of his voice. Don't be surprised, he's human.

  • i tried this ave maria too it worked a little bit but not as incredibly PERFECT as mcferrin does of course. its untoutchable

  • i saw bobby mcferrin yesterday and he played this :D

  • @DjMuffs

    Lucky you!

  • @DjMuffs You mean he SANG this. ;) You are very fortunate, friend.

  • HOLY AMAZING!!!! Love this! I actually got to see Bobby McFerrin direct the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra when my HS Band toured there back in 1997... WOW!

  • This is probably why I love Mcferrin!

  • Yeah, it's amazing !

It looks easier than it is actually. The cellist must have focused a lot because the Prelude in C (McFerrin) is "played" unusually, and of course lots of pressure for McFerrin - he is the base for the cello.

    Bach should be proud :)

  • Like WOOHOO! Geniuos.

  • IN-CRE-DI-BLE!!!!!!!!this guy is....i mean...i'm writing this with almost tears in my eyes

  • @lanainfla If you can't think of anything he might be imitating, then there is a good chance that it's original, smart guy....

  • this guy has a perfect tone :)

  • i try this but its doesnt work.:)

  • It's frustrating, isn't it?

    What a genius!

  • J.S. Bach composed the Prelude in C. Bobby McFerrin sings a version of this prelude here.

Charles Gounod composed the "Ave Maria" melody on top of Bach's prelude. It is played here by a cello.

  • Brilliant

  • EXQUISITO

  • that kid in the background at 1:00 behind bobby's hand doesn't look very excited...

  • lol

  • if that were me...my eyes would be like o_O and my jaw would be at the floor. I'm so dramatic...lmao.

  • Beautiful Song the best song!!

  • absolutely untouchable

  • Bobby McFerrin is the best artist i know.

Perfect intonation, great sound.. His songs are great and really touch oneself..

  • That's pure talent..how could ur heart not in a harmonic rhythm while listening to him..He is just a gifted being

  • La chica que aparece en el minuto 1 segundo 6 es la Cantante NOa

  • FANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNTASTIK

  • Posing continuo ;-)

  • is he singing preluse cello suit no 1?

  • Nº 1 Clave Bien Temperado

  • lol, that's a conductor batton, or wand, like you prefer. Why does he has one, I couldn't say. (I assume, a little bit of show-off) But well... it's ok, he's very talented

  • yup he's awesome :)

  • I wonder why the conductor has a conductor batton. Hmmmmm....

  • Considering singing is his job, I'd say he'd want to avoid any larynx problems at all cost.

  • That would be a really big joint ahah

  • its a J.S. Buff

  • cool

  • wow his voice sounded more beautiful than the cello did sometimes!

  • oído absoluto... :D precioso con el cello!

  • amazing!!!

  • tears in my eyes when i see people sing allong :D

  • No comas tanta mierda reyessss eres tremendo ignorante...

  • *favorited*

  • Awesome !

    Great voice !

  • angelic

  • *favorited*

  • Of course there's always a nice reversal when the cellist plays the vocal part and the singer plays the cellist part.

  • Its even more amazing when he gets the audience to sing the Gounod Ave Maria over the Bach Prelude as he does in some other videos on YouTube.

  • what did you expect, the audience is jewish and its the Ave Maria!

  • wow ... just wow.

  • Has this ever been released?

  • I love this shit! LOL

  • The cellist plays very well.

  • Isn't this beautiful!!?

  • GREAT

  • no not at all : bobby mcferrin is singing a prelude by Bach (the first in C from das wohltemperierte klavier vol 1), and the cellist is playing a air composed by Gounod on the same chord changes.

  • @mrgoumi actually the cellist is playing an ave maria that gounod composed on the prelude of bach ;)

  • nope.

  • Yes, it is the prelude by bach and the air by gounod. but u are right, there is an other ave maria from schubert, but it is totaly different!

and if u listen closely, bobby says, that he'll sing the bach and the cellist should play the gounod!

    Thats how it is!

  • No, I'm pretty sure it is NOT Schubert and in fact a prelude by Bach.

  • This is more than great. Bobby ,of course ;and this chellist too.

  • excellent

  • great by bobby mcferrin like always.

    played beautifully

  • wow.

  • that piece made me cry...not the first time on this song ;)

the performance together with yoyoma is of course at least just as good...

in my humble opinion bobby is the greatest musician of our time...i have absolutly no words to discribe his genius

  • Bobby Mcferin saved my life!

  • great intonation!

  • awesome talent at work, he never disappoints.

    awesome hottie @ 1:10 too lol X-D

  • LOL... hah wtf was i thinkin. just got a better look, i must've been uh.... ^^^

  • It's Noa ! Awesome singer too !!!

  • If you like this video, you must youtube

It's Simply breathtaking and I promise you will love it! :)

  • then you should trash your ipod and contact a publicist to help you make money.

you must have perfect pitch as well? youll need that

  • Well said, masterchief38.

  • very well said

  • You know, I don't even know what to do with an iPod, so booey for you. That's proabably at least worth something. But, perhaps you should GET PAID TO DO THIS while listening to your iPod. THEN, we're impressed!
