@Element75100 Sorry to hear you are having problems. Baby powder should not have damaged your phone. As this isn't something that was caused by our case, I would definitely reach out to Apple.
Guys, just curious how you can bring a product to market with this major flaw. If Steve were your boss you'd be flipping burgers at the local burger joint. Does Otterbox do any testing or quality control on its products???? Wiping both surfaces with windex thus removing all oil from both does not help so there is a serious and embarrassing flaw to this design. How about shipping a 1c pack of baby powder with your product instead of having to waste my time by looking for a solution online.
@JacanaProductions It's actually not a flaw or design issue. What you are seeing is called a "Newton Ring" and it happens when transparent plastic touches glass. The baby powder trick simply keeps the plastic from touching the glass completely.
@TheWildchild777777 It may be... but to be honest, I have not heard of this happening with the Droid Incredible 2. Please contact customer.service@otterbox.com so we can troubleshoot
I know this is a stupid question, but does the baby powder damage the screen at all by creating friction between the baby powder and the glass screen?
I shook the powder container, then opened the container top. I held the case surface to be coated ~ 8" (20cm) above the container with the surface facing the container. Then by slightly raising the powder container then tapping it downward lightly on the table, released a "puff" of powder upwards onto the case surface. I couldn't detect any powder on the case surface, so I did it a second time. I reassembled the phone into the case, and it worked perfectly. No oil stains, no powder detected
@Vagabondoification You are not actually affecting the device when you do this. It is a light dusting of powder on the screen protector, not the phone. There won't be any problems with your warranty since you aren't altering, modifying or affecting the device itself.
More recent Defender Series cases do not do this? I just got the newly made Photon case, and the water mark issue was not fixed... For a case that cost so much, this problem should not even be happening.
@grandsocomrko666 While I haven't personally heard of this happening with the iPod 4 Defender Series cover, you can certainly try it... if you find you are having issues, please contact customer.service@otterbox.com. They may well have heard of this happening & have additional troubleshooting tips!
Why would you do that, this completely defies the reason of you getting otterbox. You wanna keep dirt, flour, powder, debris, Etc. But then you place baby powder in it. I clean my screen with water and then leave it in the sun about 10-15 minutes. It takes a while but it is completely worth it. Why would you put something that goes on a baby's butt on your iPhone...
I got rid of my bubble thingy... I just cut off the annoying screen protector and installed ghost armor... It's more responsive.. And you don't have to jam your finger in the screen like a resistive touchscreen. :)
I just got my otterbox from amazon... this month... and it does it. I really don't want a powder rubbing around on my screen. I guess the vendor that I bought from on amazon got the "bad" batch from otterbox and unloaded them on people like me for $29.00 .. good times.
the anti glare works great but u have to apply a little more pressure to the screen than normal and i hate the otterbox screen thing its sticky and feels weird might end up cutting it off
The oil slick effect is called a "Newton Ring" and it happens when transparent plastic touches glass. It is a prismatic/light thing. The baby powder simply keeps the plastic from touching the glass. Corn starch or baking soda would work as well.
@IvanaBoo1 if you find the baby powder treatment therapeutic and enjoyable, then by all means, use it. If you want a one time permanent fix, then, the screen protector is the way to go
You can use almost anything to clean the screen of the otterbox and iphone screen. then use a blow dryer on a low setting dry off both the otterbox screen and the iphone screen. Keep the blow dryer about 12" away from each and it doesn't get very hot at all. Do this for a minute or so. Then when you put the otterbox case together there will no NO bubbles at all. I used windex to clean my iphone and otterbox screen. Worked perfectly on both phones I tried it on.
otterbox should either include baby powder or an antiglare screen protector with the purchase or lower the price of the case. that's the only fair thing to do until they improve the screen.
Nice video. This will help out a lot of people. I already learned this a while back in a itsmemorphious video but it was like 20 minutes long and there are a lot of people who would like to see it faster.
DOESNT FUCKING WORK

Don't do this it leaves tiny scratches on the iphone screen.
Instead take it off and get a real screen protector and put it on the phone.
Otherwise its an awesome case I've had mine on my 3GS for about a year and it literally looks as good as when I took it out of the box.
