Continentals of this Era were built on a slightly lenghtened platform also shared with the Tarus and Sable....but the levels of refinement in these cars is outstanding....these might not have sold as much as others but in my book they were awesome luxurious cars!
Man, I bet that thing torque steers like a mofo! Pretty fast for a wrong-wheel-drive Lincoln, though. But I'll keep my Mark VIII's. They're RWD with more power, and there's nothing like doing a smokey rear wheel burnout. Anyway, nice car dude.
I have no Idea why but my 98 is pulling off amazing launches now and it seems to sound like a nascar, even from inside the car... when I soft launch and don't let the tires slip much I can get a 0-60mph which is 100km/h for me in canada ( a canadian dial on a canadian lincoln ;) ) in a pretty surprising low 6
@revolutionday1 All Continentals made after 1987 are Front Wheel Drive....that's when they switched to the D-186 Platform also shared with the Ford Tarus and Mercury Sable....Continentals made from 1940-1987 are Rear Wheel Drive.
Nice car, man. I applaud anyone who has a quick grandpa car. Yours is a bit quicker than mine (Crown Vic), but my shifts are definitely firmer and more violent. :-D
thx. and yea its the stock tune and weak transmission. when this tranny goes, ill have another one built to withstand the power and with a shift-kit. then it should shift pretty firm lol
pretty darn quick for such a heavy car... i've been recently looking into getting either a 97-98 mark VIII or a 2000-2004 regal GS, they both have the about the same performance numbers, but the mark's got that V8 sound....it will be a hard decision.....or a marauder, thatd be sweet too :), i have a crown vic 0-60 vid on my page you should watch, it sounds really good.
Awesome, my gray SHO chirps second too! I think I may be in need of a new tranny soon, though... When it's cold, the tranny holds first gear until about 4500 RPM.
