It looks like you've designed a solid class bud. hlb101, most women who take a Women's Self Defense class enroll with the intent of training short term (like a 10 wk class). A good teacher will design a curriculum with that in mind. Devoting time to physical cond. (which takes months or years) would leave less time for reality based drills in a limited program such as this.
come on, shed been stabbed by now. you need to teach woman to punch, headbutt, kick, do the same shit men do. make woman do pressups on their knuckles, make them do heavy duty cardio, make them learn hard stances and footwork so they dont fall over.
Women who join our martial arts program do that kind of training, hlb. This class is designed to develop certian attributes in the students more quickly than a traditional MA program will.
All I'm saying is a few hours drilling a low horse stance would sort that balance out. TMA training has it's advantages. The idea that things can be shortcutted to get results quicker, in this case for woman, baffles me. There is no such secret to it, except the one: proper long-term dedicated training.
The self-defense program is design to teach them some basic things that they can learn and use with very little training. The entire program is only about 20 hours, to spend any of that on horse stance training would be pointless. The limited time is much better spent teaching them about awareness and attitudes, basic evasive footwork, simple strikes and basic ground work.
Now, our Kempo program is different... we have plenty of time for much deeper training
