Gerry Adams is so gracious, and I hope Grainne Jones appreciates just how lucky she is to be represented by someone of his caliber. In the U.S., we can't get close to our representatives. When I write my Congressman, I get a form letter that doesn't even acknowledge a dissenting point of view, and I would have zero chance of getting him on camera to explain himself. One of our senators had an anti-war protester arrested outside her office--so much for "the land of the free."
Gerry Adams is a politician we can TRUST. He envisions an Ireland of values. Not one of teenage sucides, drug abuse, crime, homosexuality, lone parenthood and mental illness. What direction are we as a people taking? What kind of country are our children going to grow up in?
For the sake of debate, I could suggest that the culture of youth suicide in many parts of Belfast is due to the ongoing and pernicious influence of paramilitary groups who bully and threaten young people. We have been left with a culture of violence as a legacy of the past 40 years, and whilst I think British policy and actions are culpable in that, so is the culture that surrounds 'the struggle' and Loyalist reactions to it.
Gerry is a legend :) I was talking to him about 4 months ago while he was out canvassing in Dublin and hes a lovely guy, very genuine and easy to talk to.

Of course I am happy with the deal which was done but what i am saying here is I think this interview could have been better spent and more constructive questions should have been put forward. I think Gerry is a great leader. Ive met him twice and hes a great man but I dont know who hes trying to bluff with his 'tree hugging' business!
Well I think it shows there is more to the man than Aran sweaters and revolutionary politics! What we were trying to do here was show this to people who would not normally have much time for him
