definitely solid 4, and more like 5 in the summer months, hot muggy days. Hard to tell from a video the grade, not that anyone would seriously try to though. Beautiful problem, definitely a hyperclassic.
seems to me that if a climb is straight up with no traversing it can only be a v3. What do you rate this climb? It seems pretty difficult maybe 3 or 4
Have you been here or even climbed at castle hill before? Many boulders go straight up and can be extremely difficult (The Joker or Outcast both V9 are pretty much straight up). The climbing here is very slopey the holds are not good, this climb especially, is very polished. It is considered a V4 test piece. As far as a grade goes I've done V5's that have been easier.
i've never climbed this before. And you're right that video can't do justice to the difficulty of the climb. I'm sorry for insulting you. However, I still think this climb is not at that rating. No offense, great climb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its very misleading, looks like its straight forward. Trust me its not. Its rated v4, but I think its underrated due to the amount its been polished. You probably have never climbed on this type of limestone before, most limestone isn't made the way the limestone at castle hill is. Good holds become polished and go from being good to awful the more a climb is climbed. Also you have nothing to go on having never even climbed at the place.
whoa dude, relax. I said it still looks v4ish and the guy in the video just agreed that it is v4 but stiff. So I'm right in thinking it's a 3 or 4. If the holds are glass then maybe it's close to a 5. Also, how do you know I've never climbed there? stop looking for arguments.
