A lens flare is a element, that occurs when really bright light hits the lens optics. As the reflection of the reactor is a lot darker then the original object it would not cause an lens-flare. Also as lansflares are created in the optics of your camera they don´t reflect on objects.
To answer your question: It is possible to fake a reflection of the lensflare. But it wouldn't be realistic!
Well actually the 30 minutes didn´t include the GI calculation as it was prerendered and precached. It took that long because of the many details and the glossy reflections on the floor and the celling.
One question, is it possible to get the optical flare reflected on the floor like the reactor?
Amazing work, btw...

8 seconds long, 240 frames, 0.5 hours a frame, 120 hours. I hate those long GI renders! haha nice work though Silverwing!

Wow you are master of Cinema 4D.... How long did this take to render?
DigitalSystematic 3 months ago
@DigitalSystematic
The rendering took about 30 minutes per frame... thats why the sequence is so short!
Cheers

@SilverwingVFX Wow you must have a powerful machine... If this was render on mine it would take hours, especially since it's Vray...

@DigitalSystematic
Its a hexacore i7 980X (6x3.33 GHz)
Actually vray renders such scenes faster then e.g. C4D Advanced renderer.
Don´t understand me wrong. The AR is a great tool bit vray was made to render really fast with area-lights, glossy reflections and GI.
