That's just an illusion. Have you ever looked at the hubcaps of a car driving next to you and they seem to be spinning the opposite direction at a relatively slow speed? That's basically what's happening here.
Sadly, this TBM Avenger had an in-flight fire and made an emergency landing before burning to the ground. There was nothing left. The pilot survived with serious injuries.
@bassplaya1549 To answer your question; Early versions 1-3 had an R-1800 2,000 hp engine, and a 13'6" 3 blade prop. Versions 4-7 had R-2800 rated at 2,800 hp, but with actual use proved 2,950 hp, they were equiped with a 4 blade 14' 2" prop. the last version F2G often mistakenly called a F-4U used a R-4360 4,000 hp engine, and can bedistinguished by the straight line top of the fuseloge giving the pilot bettwe rear vision.
I was a crew chief on a TBM-3E Avenger and flew to several airshows in it.
Once to Oshkosh Wi.
Wright Cyclone R2600-20 1900 HP power plant playing round engine music.
But no match for the music from my friend's playing the piano though.
I love both genres.

Camera shutter speed needs to be set correctly.
lander4545 2 years ago
@lander4545 it is moron it's not even the camera it happens with your own eyes
onionman113 1 year ago
@onionman113 You can see it with YOUR own eyes because YOUR brain is a little short on the shutter speed! You jerk!
lander4545 1 year ago
@lander4545 oh your cool (sarcasm in this), and yes your eyes can see it moving i know i'm right i've been to one of these
onionman113 1 year ago
it doesn't. it's an illusion due to the speed of the propeller and the speed of the camera recording frame rate. :)
thor20014 2 years ago
shutter speed on the camera.

Frame rate of camera taking the film...
m52spy 2 years ago
He must shooting at a very fast speed, if he's filming at more the 1/125th of a second, the prop starts to slow down on you.

@salemcripple
i always hated announcers at air shows.... they assume everyone at an air show has no idea of anything.

@cs512tr don't forget there will always be new comers who don't nessercerily know....
