My recommendation is that all people who subscribe to the islamic religion should live like with like in the one place. You all have no right to migrate to countries or existing cultures living in peace and try to change what you migrate to. In islam you cannot force a woman to get married as stated in the following verse "O you who have believed, it is NOT lawful for you to inherit women by compulsion. And do not make difficulties for them in order to take [back] part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality. And live with them in kindness" (Quran 4:19) Opression of women by islam? NO. Yes there are muslims out there who treat their women wrong but its not part of islam

She maintains that the islamic religion is a cruel one, especially the jihadist side of islam. She maintains that Christianity today is a more forgiving religion, a more balanced one with respect for other religions. Poor countries have high rates of women's oppression. I remind you of Bilal Skaf, a Lebanese muslim living in the western suburbs of Sydney who systematically organised several rapes and received a huge jail sentence for his crime. In one of the rapes 25 men raped a young girl, who was minding her own business then hosed her down and began again. It took a huge police squad to gather enough evidence to confict him? His mother thinks he is not to blame. Give me a break.

@coffeefor1 Afghanistan was a war torn country with harsh sanctions. It had no police system & therefore parts of Afghanistan were dangerous & the rape rates were high. So the Taliban said that in SOME parts of Afghanistan women could only leave their house with a male. This was to protect the women since they didn't have an effective police system. They also temporarily limited access to school for the same reason. Yet the media manipulates facts in order to have a reason to justify invading.

However you will NEVER be able to get rid of all the rapist evenwhen you teach men to respect women. So it is best to take extra percaution to help prevent it from happening. For example you can't get rid of all the theives so its best to put a lock on your door when you leave yhur home as a percaution.

@coffeefor1 The Taliban have devoted their time to helping womens rights. How do you think they came to power? Right after the war with the Soviets Afghanistan was in a state of anarchy. Many women were being raped. A group of students which means "Taliban" in Arabic went from village to village finding the rapist and giving them death pealty. This stability that they brought won the hearts of the Afghans. But they still told the women to cover up as EXTRA percaution.

I suspect it's because males in the muslim community feel very threatened by clever women. There would be a high percentage of muslims in our community who do NOT want sharia law and who are happy co existing with westerners.
