Steve - just stumbled across your stuff last night. I sure wish there was sound to the SP videos - I can remember watching those as a kid in the 80s - everything about the was loud - such power. Great videos. Thanks so much for sharing.
Great video It brings back a lot of memeries for me. I even remember a couple of F7A and B sets served on some of these runs to and from Sanfrancisco to San Jose. You even caught a couple of the Caltrain SP refurbashed cars on one of the outbound trains These were SP cars repainted into a Caltrain experimental livery and some of those cars even had hard seats as part of the experiment I'm glad they didnt go with those seats. Thanks for sharing this great video.
Except for the dust particle in the upper left corner, this is a really nice transfer from Super 8 -- complete with a lap dissolve!
I used to take the Trainmasters from California Avenue to the city during the summers of 1970 - 1972. What memories. Riding CalTrain today isn't that much different, except the Subs are gone. The Baby Bullets are a thrill ride!
I used to ride the SP Peninsula Commute for weekend trips to San Francisco... miss those days.
Nice catch of the GP40P-2's and the early Caltrain paint scheme gallery cars! I caught the first GP40P-2 in your video (#3199) at the Colton Diamonds recently, albeit repainted in UP Yellow, now numbered #1375.
This a sad video, nice looking trains; too bad they became absolete. Todays trains are not the same; only a shadow of those that came them. Maybe I am just nostalgic; but if new technology becomes available why can't the old machines looks be preserve in the new trains.
Glad you enjoy them!

This reminds me of the F40s, San Diegans, and the ATSF painted locos vanishing into history.

At 1:01 you can see a CalTrain F40, damn, they stopped these great trains from working the bay.

Love the SP mars lights.

They were usually Gyralite 20805s.
This video is really awesome, and yes, the fact that it is Super8 helps create atmosphere rather than detract from the movie.
Great job.-Jeffrey
