  • MY EARS!!!!!!!!!!

  • The sound effects are HORRIBLE!!!

  • The opening audio is by far the best.

  • absolutely fantastic conversion, pushes the ][ to its limits for sure!

  • Dang, the machine had a hard time hitting some low notes there.

  • 1:22 NICE ESCAPE !!

1:49 I believe this game owes you 200 points.

  • @YamiSatoshi 1:49. Ah! You're right. I never noticed that. Good catch. Indeed, I clearly caught Sue right there.

  • @PlayingWithHistory not if you didn't want to be dead at 0:29 :)

  • @djpurple Haha! You're right. I guess I can't complain. :)

  • Ironically, this plays better than Commodore 64, Gameboy, Lynx, and NES counterparts. This is the first homeport of Ms. Pac-Man built.

  • @lordbemylight Thanks, this was my pride and joy project after high school! The C64 version was adapted from this (same 6502 processor), but I wasn't as familiar with the C64. The PC version was also a conversion of this, but done by other people using my code. So happy to see it still being appreciated! I was just having a "Whatever happened to..." moment, looked it up on YouTube, and whoah! :)

  • @djpurple I have a hard time believing that someone who now makes a living as a DJ programmed the Apple II verison of Ms. Pac-Man.

If you really did, prove it. The Apple II version of Ms. Pac-Man holds the number of extra lives at a fixed address in memory. It didn't matter if the Apple II had 64k, 128k, or more ram, the memory address was always the same. Since you claim to be the developer, what memory address was it that held the number of Ms. Pac-Man lives?

  • THE SOUND, IT BURNS

    MOMMY MAKE IT STOP D:

  • Cow how? Cow how? Cow how? *braking machine noise*

  • @flexyldy

Nice try on the weird sounds...

  • wait, this was on the apple 2? wow these graphics are great for that kind of computer

  • @IMZEECATMAN Thanks! :)

  • Old-skool. Too bad we never played this port in grade school on the IIe/IIGS. We just stuck to Number Munchers, Oregon Trail, Children's Writing And Publishing Center, Type To Learn, Ultra Key, CommuniKeys, Logo Plus, etc...

  • @lordbemylight

I did play Pac-Man. Oddly, however, this port was derived from a Pac-Man knockoff called Taxman.

  • ACT 1 - THEIR EARS BLEED

  • @bigman88zz LOL Funny!

  • i dont remember a green one

  • 0:40 she queefed

  • MY EARS

  • the graphics are diecent, but that is seriously the shittiest sound I ever heard.

  • @TheDudeYouHateToMeet

It is the shittiest sound you ever heard, there's a good reason for it.

The only way to generate sound on the Apple 2 was to send a pulse to the speaker. You simply switch the speaker from 5 volts to 0 volts and back to 5 volts. It was as crude as that.

So all you could do was generate square waves of different pitch.

More complex sounds, waveforms didn't come along until a few years later with special sound generator chips.

  • I used to play this Version of Ms. Pac-Man at School.

  • This computer had no sound chip, so way to keep the sound going while the computer did other things (like animation). So when nothing else is going on, it can sound "okay". As soon as the game starts running, it's almost impossible to get decent sound because of all the "gaps" in the sound wave.

  • Considering the only native sound capability the Apple II had was a 1-bit internal speaker, these sounds are pretty damn impressive.

  • old skool skillllllz... not once, when I was a kid, did I think to sit pacman by one of the power pill things and wait for ghosts. It was always a few minutes of shear panic for me!

  • LOL

  • The sound at the beginning is really good. The rest remind me of a nail scraping glass inside a metal tank.

  • this is freaking me out

  • Did the sound programmers just record themselves chewing glass?

  • Yes, and scraping stuff in metal tanks.

  • @pujols37105 lol

  • Ear rape=this version of Ms. Pac-Man

  • Sub-par graphics, but the sound is awful!

  • Game looks great for its time but that sound is like someone taking a nail on a chalk board. Wow is that sound just something awful.

  • I love those 8-bit sounds so much!

  • Sounds like the Daleks from Dr. Who on crack.

  • lol

  • lol, you're right.

  • It really does.

  • _____Go for it, Miss Pac-Man! You go prove your anorexic-bulemic worth to Pac-Man and the world! Binge your way through ALL of those food pellets. And then wait for the game to be over as so you can be bent face-first over a toilet and with a finger down your throat. Why not? You've already lost any and all weight associated with having a body--just being a HEAD and all. Just five more pounds, just fifty thousand more points... You can DO it!

  • Looks good. Sounds.....oh someone said this already :P

  • Those are probably the funniest sounds I've ever heard in a video game.

  • I'm not sure I ever played anything on the Apple that sounded this good, so I'm impressed with it. Most games didn't even bother having music.

  • i guess you're the only one to leave a comment about the sounds on this version of ms pac being good.

  • When you eat, the noise of it could also sound like an idling diesel engine.

  • Look good! Sounds.........not so good.

  • lol. I used to play this on my Apple 2E. Actually the guy did a pretty good job on sound if you realize that the Apple had basically NO sound chip! All you could do was poke (vibrate) the tiny, tinny speaker! It was never meant to do any more than "beep" on startup! lol.

The opening music sounds great, for the Apple, 2 voice and everything. The eating noise is harsh, but...well...kind of sounds like "eating"...the funniest is the intermission music where it sounds like the Apple is DYING!

  • The ghost noises, when you eat a power pellet in an effort to eat them, is very bad.
