  • @kisos007 Yeah, I suppose it's something that kids today might not realize, but there was no CGI in 1967. Everything that appeared on camera had to really exist, including the cemetary and that big wooden bridge that they blew up (twice!). I believe Leone had people digging graves for weeks for this set. I originally thought the central arena was preexisting, but apparantly he built that too. What vision Leone must have had, to imagine this scene, and dare to build it.

    They used spanish soldiers for digging the graves and they finished in only two days!

  • @DjPinxu Yeah, I heard something similar since I posted. Hard to believe! But I guess it's amazing what you can do if manpower is cheap, which it probably was in Spain at the time (probably one of several reasons it made a good film location), and I expect General Franco had a large army and not much for it to do most of the time.

  • the graves are still there for anybody who whould like to go there ,a little overgrown with grass , but still there,and the centre still has the stones where the final showdown was shot.truly fab...............

  • what a film, travelled all the way from wales to this place in northern spain, it was worth every singal mile.

  • truly fabulous place ,a must for any fan of this film over 43 years old ,but stil awesome.
