the thing i like about eric johnson aside the fact he is a guitar hero is that he seems the kinda guy that worked to get there and wasnt found cause he looked good or watever. but that aint a bad thing either. in a way.....
its funny I don't play GH (only PC games) but I saw the bill gates slash vs tipperqueen CES video and it lead to ash (girl guitarist) and she was playing this song Cliffs of Dover, and I found about Eric Johnson and dang Eric is awesome!
Guitar Hero only dilutes the creativity pool for the sake of a quick buck. It makes what was once great art, trendy. Once that happens, it's all downhill. It's not original anymore because the underlying ideas get generalized by idiots and then stuffed into a genre. Then, it's fate is sealed. The concept is taken away and stuck behind a glass case that even the original artist can't touch. I doubt any of the artists of the past thought they'd be put on a pedestal this high for this long. Sad...
would you rather the music we love be totally ignored by kids or would you rather they enjoy the music but associate it with another product, such as guitar hero....because those are the only two options, 12 year old kids sure as hell arent walking into hmv and making it past the first hannah montana cd

Actually, the only reason I play guitar now is because of guitar hero. I got real good at it, and then my g/f told me I should try a real one, taught me a few chords, and I've never gone back. So, I think guitar hero should just be treated as what it is; entertainment, and a way to get more people into music.
i completely agree, i started playing that game and went to guitar center after 3 weeks to get my first guitar, i havent played gh since but I'm now obsessed with guitar and play for hours every day
@EvCrock I always wondered if GH or RB ever made nebody pick up the real instrument. Happy you picked up a real guitar. I feel the same way it should be used as fun but also as a gateway to a real instrument. Espcially drums on rockband because its much more realistc then the guitar is to real guitar.

If you can play guitar hero really well, it doesn't mean you can play guitar well, but I believe it is a sign that you have potential for guitar. IF you can hit the notes really fast on GH, you probably have good coordination and finger strength, which is great for guitar.

not true... my dad let me listen to cliffs of dover when i was 8 years old and we were going through all his old guitar videos and I fell in love with it and turned to him and said it soudns like the guitar is singing.... I am TERRIBLE at guitar hero and only play it at my friends houses lol
