  • I've always wondered why they so often couldn't hear each other. They wasted so much time asking for repoeats. was it the studio accoustics or something?

    Can anyone explain?

  • Happy Belated Birthday Joan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Hope you had a great time. You're one of my favorite actresses and I love your beautiful voice. One of the most beautiful voices of all time. Thank you for the memories you have given us in Rebecca, Suspicion, Jane Eyre, Letter to an Unknown Woman, September Affair and Serenade.

  • I wonder what caused their feud (Joan and Olivia). jealosy? Too many actresses in the family?

  • HAHAH "No sir, mame!!!" lol that was funny. Thank you for sharing.

  • They were born in Japan, love them both and Joan was discover bringing lunch to Olivia @ the Studio

  • they look like they had fun - it's infectious

  • they look like they had fun - it's infectuous

  • i love Olivia more

  • I thought that De Havilland and Fontaine were cousins.

  • @lorrainewands They're sisters!!

  • I love the ladies' blindfolds

  • They are both in their 90's they should bury the hatchet, before they reach 1001

  • I actually was wondering why the men were standing up at the end! Ya don't see that nowadays! :)

  • She has such a pleasant personality! :)

  • would you consider yourself a leading woman? "well i would!" hahaha

  • Even if both sisters, Joan and Olivia don't have relationship since many years ago i think they are both amazing, i will take Oliva thogh becuase he's a little better and the elder one :D

  • Gah, fantabulous! I'm glad there is still time to tell her how wonderful she is.

  • Great great great and unforgettable Joan Fontaine!

  • I like them both but...Joan seems like the fun sister!

  • Joan Fontaine is Olivia De Havilland's younger sister. Joan & Olivia haven't talked in years due to some sort of disagreement.

  • @rickram1961 Wonder what the heck happened?

  • I love Joan and Olivia, it's not necessary to choose between the two. Both excellent actresses in their own right. What a shame they will take their feud to the grave.

Joan is so charming here. Anyone read her book 'No Bed Of Roses'?

  • She's such an adorable woman, she seems very warm and kind. In some ways she reminds me of Kate Winslet.

  • @MsSarjen oh my... thats an insult to an amazing women. please dont bring JF down like that...

  • joan: what DO you have 'on?'

  • when she smiles she looks like Olivia

  • @JunkE4Theatre

    i think it ,too

  • She has a lovely ucipital mapilary.

  • Joan and Olivia were born in Japan.

  • Dorothy Killgallen's blindfold looks like an upside-down bra. :)

  • @Shepherdess It does, but its pretty. She probably like it b/c it was soft, almost satiny.

  • I'm 15...and my friends get a kick outta me watching 50s/60s gameshows.

  • Joan Fontaine is such a smart, wittiy and beautiful woma...

  • Joan is always so fun at WML!

  • this is my favorite panel group-Bennett, Arlene, Dorothy, and Steve.

  • Lovely lady - so classy! Great Actress!

  • I like Dorothy

  • Happy Birthday, Ms. Fontaine!

    Great clip, thanks for posting!

  • Star quality, no doubt about it...you're born with that charisma, you don't acquire it.

  • Yes, they were :)

  • Eu amo Joan Fontaine.

    Ela é simplesmente linda !

  • she's adorable

  • What a cute video! She seems like such a sweetie, and she's done a wonderful job in so many films. Thank you very much for posting this! :)

  • guapa!

  • The beautiful Joan Fontaine sensational in B&W movies and in color. (I always loved her Eyebrows and how she seemsto raise her left one also.) Even on her later years she was still radiantly beautiful. I'm Dumbfounded that she was not included in AFI's Top 100 Actor's & Actresses. She is overlooked and people who see her films are true fans and appreciate this Gem of a Person. Just listening to her voice tells you that she has a good soul.

  • It's no secret Joan Fontaine & her sister, Olivia DeHavilland, had been estranged for years.

But DeHavilland was one of the few, close female friends of the late Bette Davis, who, as many know, had her own feud with a "Joan" going on for years--her co-star in "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?," Joan Crawford (though the feud was overblown, which Davis enhanced over the years for entertainment purposes).

  • Joan Fontaine is adorable. Looks like she was having a lot of fun trying to fool the panel.

  • Dorothy even removes a hair from her mouth in a classy way at 4:49.

  • omg i love how when dorothy says 'have you a sister in show biz' jopan 'sighs' lol

  • I loooove Joan!!!! I'm so glad to know she's still alive! She is a great actress, I hope she's doing well, and I think she's better and more beautiful than Olivia

  • cool signature

  • olivia hated her sister.

  • 'no sir..MAM' looool

  • Btw, when Dorothy asked if she were the fairer of the two sisters, was she referring to hair color or beauty?

  • my opinion was the hair color; however i thought they were both blonde. Olivia may have been darker haired though.

  • One of my favorite actresses. :)

  • Both sisters very classy; however i think i like Joan's looks better.

  • Wondered if they were gonna bring up the fact that she was born in Japan, interesting that they still got it. "considered the fairer of the two?" that's pretty harsh! Both were gorgeous. Both still alive in 2009, and still not speaking to each other :(

  • When she asked if she was the fairer of the two, she meant her coloring. Joan generally had blonde hair in her films, while Olivia had darker brown hair.

  • i just LOVE joan...can't say the same for olivia!

  • @VTMCompany I have to agree....Olivia is not on my list of favorites

  • @VTMCompany And yet Olivia seems to have been more famous and popular. I love Joan too. I think she is more attractive.

  • @VTMCompany

    why? ...

  • @VTMCompany Really? I think they're both very different...hardly comparable.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • this woman just oozed class-star quality just like sister Olivia

  • Does anyone know if there is a WML with Oliva?

  • She has been on it, but I don't think it's on YouTube.

  • There are now two up -- just search! :)

  • Thanks, YouT :-)

  • yes there is and it's on you tube.

  • I love Joan Fontaine! She's so nice and a great actress. Thanks for the clip. I love her southern accent! LOL.

  • Can you believe Joan turned 91 last month!!

  • I'm trying to pass this along to all you Joan Fontaine fans: check out "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour": "The Paragon" to see her wonderful performance in a little suspenseful gem from early 60s TV. (It reminds you of 'Christabel').

  • Ah, it had to be that comment the last lady said that caused the grudge between Joan and Olivia. She said Joan was the more fairer of the two.Just kidding but still sad they haven't spoken for decades

  • "No sir.. ma'am"

    -"Let me make myself clear!!"

  • HAHAHAHA!!!! i love when Mr. Daily says in an accent, "thats one down and nine to go"

    omg too cute!

  • I alway liked Joan and Olvia equally they were great actresses,it's a shame they never got along. I liked their thriller movies,Joan Fontaine in "The Witches"(aka:"The Devil's Own" and Olivia DeHavilland in "Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte" I've watched those movies so many times i can recite the dialog.

  • Love Joan's southern accent. Heehee, she had them going there for a while.

  • so beautyful sad about the sisters her and oliva? but both beautiful and amazing actress

  • I saw joan for the first time on tv in a film called rebecca, her beauty blew me away, just had to look her up, amazing

  • Yes and she reminds me of Ingrid Bergman. they were both natural beauties without make-up. their looks were different of course.

  • Definetly she is in my top 3 actresses of ALL TIME,Ingrid Bergman,Audrey Hepburn and Joan Fontaine. LOve you Miss. Joan Fontaine, loved her performance In Rebecca.

  • for me its ingrid bergman katharine hepburn joan fontain and bette davis

  • Sounds good to me.

  • Yes, great in Rebecca. Wonderful actress.

  • There is a Royal Doulton figurine named Rebecca that really to me is a replica of Joans face. it's very stunning. I bought it so i've seen it for real and it's Joan.

  • Mine are Norma Shearer, Rosalind Russell and Joan Fontaine, in that order :-)

  • i love norma and rosalind to! there kinda ignored today which is sad..its a shame norma stopped early!

  • Bellport says hello to Joan :)

  • I don't think she looks upset when they ask her if she has a sister in show business...they never mention Olivia's name. I think she looks a bit upset because she knew at that point that the panel knew who she was. She really wanted to fool them and go all the way to the end of the game.

  • The question of where she was born I guess gave her identity away.

  • They were born in Japan I believe.

    -Lily♥

  • Yup

  • Great! Joan Fontaine has always been one of my top 5 favorites and this video is one of the reasons she is so endearing.

  • Great episode. Joan is charming with her "Scarlett O'Hara" accent.

  • woohoo!

  • Ah do declare, this is delighful, dahling! Joan, you are marhvelous.

  • Where do you detect her being sad???

  • not sad is her expression when they ask her if she has a sister in show bussiness.

  • i dont think she looks sad but it looks like she know they guess who she is

  • she was upset she got caught that was cute.

  • LOL it seemed to me she was upset at talking about Olivia!! I was totally laughing there. They were such rivals.

  • Love this. Joan is my favorite of all time. What a great Southern dialect! She almost had them fooled.

  • Boy, i love Joan (very charming clip here) a great talent in all genres, and i love What's My Line - if anyone has any other What's my line clips i will praise you

  • i have allot more what's my line, ill add them later on
