My friend has a voice just like hers, and she sang this to put her baby sister to sleep one night. I think about that every time I hear this song. Which is cool because this song is beautiful.
I think, or at least this is a way I connect with it, She might be talking to someone who has a major regret, one that's eating them away. And she's trying to make them understand that it's nothing serious, no ones perfect, it's just part of life to make mistakes and such, shouldn't get overly down about it. But, hey to each his own opionion. That's what art is. The artist can have a motive of projecting something, but the viewer can take it to a whole new level, and adapt it to themselves.
I always thought that this was a song looking on the bright side of life. & growing up isn't too bad, but you do have to keep your inner child with you wherever, otherwise, well, what would life be like without our childlike curiosity? Btw, I love this song and the awesometastic lyrics <33 It gives hope to the routine ordinary life that some of us have, I guess. :) & Imogen Heap ftw <3
timeoffire450: i don't agree with your interpetation, i think she sings this song to a kid or someone young. she is telling him that whatever he is going through it's part of growing up and it just something he needs to get over and that she is with him and she loves him. the line : "none of us were angels" she means we all did things we are not proud of, we all did mistakes and no one is perfect. but it's of course just my opinion...
this song reminds me of an easier time in my life, before everything turned complicated. Before all the rat races and friendship politics came about. I miss those days.
I love how you did an interpretation of the song with the lyrics, instead of showing them line by line. The words move seamlessly the music, just the way it's supposed to be. It makes me love the song more~ And makes me want to make my own video interpretation of it. Kind of like Kinetic typography.
It is definitively "violins." If you go to her website and look up her albums/songs, the lyrics for this song are posted there. You'll see that it is, indeed, violins.
i'll never sing like that in a million years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But LOVE this song!!! i think it's funny how your just talkin to us during that break thing. good vid.
Wow... talk about a complicated question... Okay, so there are many interpretations, but mine is that it's a song about someone who refuses to grow up and see the good in the world. 0:56-1:18 serves to reinforce that this person (who sedates themselves in a figurative sense) has been spiraling down and how now is as "bad" a time as it has been before, so why not grow up now before it's too late? Also, the chorus points out "none of us were angels" meaning that everyone makes mistakes. :-)
