People got interested, started to pay to attend and soon they were all rich and there was so much money left over that even the players could be rich. Keep in mind that every NFL team must have 40 players and they all get paid a minimum of 1.2 million per season - even the bench warmers. And of course the best players negotiate to substantially higher pay rates.

Xbox is sooo small competetively, but I guess MTV gotta speak to the masses. I would love to see them look at "real" competetive gamers. They play alot, but not as much as in this video. Staying in all day playing is not the way to get good, physical training is a big part of it.

Just like you would if you were working a regular shift. As far physical training I think your right it requires some but more mental training is needed. If its your job to play games then yea 6 to 8 hours day is pretty much whats gonna keep you on top. If your not pro putting that amount of time is pretty much unnecessary.

Players tend to reach their prime around the age of 21 - 23. If your not pro/sponsored by then, then its kinda pointless to try and put in 6 - 8 hours a day. Real life starts kickin in (Girlfriends/Work/College/ ect.) Your not gonna be able to put in the time to keep up with other good players. And slowly but surely you'll be falling behind. sux
@SnoweyMan111 Gamming hours usually IS proportional to the level of play. Alot of people in majors get around the same level. If you've been to any major tourney's then know what I'm talking about. Everyone at majors with the exsclusion of people who go just to experience a major tourney. Is around the same level of play. However there is only a handful of people that stand out from others.

Id say work out the rest of the day or maybe not the rest but a large chunk. And use some time for tactics. From what i have seen of competetive Halo (gamecast(dot)tv) they're rather unorganized, I figured out lots of improvements while watching.

They play 2 hours, one increases a total of 20 the other a total of 25. One increases consistantly the other increase more

No you'd probably need a scale of 100 people to test to find out the average rate a person would increase, and that could be used as proportional (in your sense). But I see what your sayin though I just can't fully agree with it.

If any sport should be paid highly i would say Mixed, martial arts, Boxing or any full contact combative sport. I think those are real skill winners. not a hater though just saying/thinking.

@deltaalphacharlie They are private corporations. The NFL was founded by a few guys that pitched in $4,000 to get it started. People got interested, started to pay to attend and soon they were all rich and there was so much money left over that even the players could be rich. Keep in mind that every NFL team must have 40 players and they all get paid a minimum of 1.2 million per season - even the bench warmers. And of course the best players negotiate to substantially higher pay rates.

I then recalled the days when being a soldier was the highest call. Seems backwards even. I would think the more dangerous the job the more prestigous as nobody else could do it. any one can play a sport, they might suck to the high heavens but they could play. not many are willing to face death though. hmm.

SC players make thousands and thousands more than any other gamers out there, even if you're not a 'Progamer' you're still able to compete in thousands of little events and still make more then most of the people playing Halo etc. Then there's the big tournament where you can win up to $87,000.

Xbox is sooo small competetively, but I guess MTV gotta speak to the masses. I would love to see them look at "real" competetive gamers. They play alot, but not as much as in this video. Staying in all day playing is not the way to get good, physical training is a big part of it.

@SnoweyMan111 Most of them are sponsored. Thats where the Cost of living money comes from i believe. And to be good you'd at least need to be playing 6 to 8 hours day. Just like you would if you were working a regular shift. As far physical training I think your right it requires some but more mental training is needed. If its your job to play games then yea 6 to 8 hours day is pretty much whats gonna keep you on top. If your not pro putting that amount of time is pretty much unnecessary.

@SnoweyMan111 Well most pro's i believe start playing around 15 or 16ish so putting in 6 to 8 hours a day is easy. Most don't really have Bills or work. Players tend to reach their prime around the age of 21 - 23. If your not pro/sponsored by then, then its kinda pointless to try and put in 6 - 8 hours a day. Real life starts kickin in (Girlfriends/Work/College/ ect.) Your not gonna be able to put in the time to keep up with other good players. And slowly but surely you'll be falling behind. sux

I doubt you could even make a exponential function using level of play and hours played as a factor.
Sure proffesional games play alot. But usually amout of play hours is less important in slow phased games like Halo. Compared to games like Sc2.

Everyone at majors with the exsclusion of people who go just to experience a major tourney. Is around the same level of play. However there is only a handful of people that stand out from others.

@TheVeteran919 0o. I agree 100% with the first post. What I'm arguing is that 6 hours is way past the "effective practise" limit. There are other things you could do to make you a better gamer. Id say work out the rest of the day or maybe not the rest but a large chunk. And use some time for tactics. From what i have seen of competetive Halo (gamecast(dot)tv) they're rather unorganized, I figured out lots of improvements while watching.

Technically it does but like a said it depends on how the player can see the game as a whole concept. Yea working out is good for play but studying tactics goes in with playing, or watching other people play. To me thats still play hours becuase your devoting time to the game.

Theres no actual value in game skill so you can't say that the amount of hours that you put in a game wouldn't increase it consistantly at the same rate. But like how i said before theoretically it does, but you gotta account for variables. Like say two players play an hour they both increase skill by a total of 10. They play 2 hours, one increases a total of 20 the other a total of 25. One increases consistantly the other increase more

No you'd probably need a scale of 100 people to test to find out the average rate a person would increase, and that could be used as proportional (in your sense). But I see what your sayin though I just can't fully agree with it.
