Well i dunno if that was it, the hetzer was built off the Panzer 38 T chassis, which was a captured tank from the czech republic in ww2.. The germans used its chassis for a lot of different tanks including artillery and stuff.

Many tanks survive in fact , the problem was the post war needs , many tanks were melted to made new armor , many T-54 re use German Steel , Kubinka are like Aberden or Bovington with many examples of captured armor but Samur are the only museum with one running Kingtiger , the panzers keep in postwar service in spain , swiss , norway ,czech , finland , france , Hungary , turkey , but finished as shooting targets for new tanks , destroyed in soviet films or sold to Syria
