Darin reminds me of Michael Madsen here quite a bit! The recent release by Japanese alto player Akira Sakata with Darin and Chris Corsano (together credited as Chikamorachi) is worth checking out. Its on Family Vineyard- just like the Ulena stuff.
I know the majority of people listening to this know their stuff and have probably heard of and heard Flying Luttenbachers but if you haven't and found these guys alot of fun give them a go.
Grand Ulena is/was Cool, I think I was at this show, w/ U.S. Maple, Right?! The HighPoint, in St.Lou. was a great show!! Bobby Conn was o.k., but I missed the Glass Gypsies.
The one time I saw Grand Ulena was at Radio Cherokee, several years ago. It remains one of my top three concerts of all time. This is a band with blistering chops. You can't touch the ulena.
RIP Danny

this is awesome just because it's grand ulena, but whoever recorded this must have been a bass player.
