I lived in San Francisco 1958-60. I'm an exile. No matter what I do in life, San Francisco will always claim me as one of its own. I learned to read and to write there, and I learned about art and healthy human interaction from its inhabitants. The foundation for everything I know about life and human creativity was laid there. ;])
UN BUEN TEMA DE THE BEATLES AL MEJOR ESTILO HIPPY. FELICITACIONES Y MUCHAS GRACIAS POR DEJAR FLUIR LA MÚSICA DE LOS 60 PARA QUE NUESTRO ESPÍRITU SE ELEVE.
Because I have a lot of feelings for this town:) And because it used to be a place where people were gathering, so I think that a song about friendship is appropriate:)
Peace march 3-21-09, 11am. Civic Center to Delores Park. As a Vet, who has worked with Vets in prison for 20 years, I can tell you, that most of us Vets are broken people. We do not make sense, sometimes. We are confused, that those of you who are sane, do not protest against the war. Join Vets for Peace & protest the war.
March 3-21-09 against the Afghan war & all wars. The only vets who support war, are those desk jockeys who never had to pick up a gun & march into battle.
some people are made for self-destruction. War is basically destruction of the self, of the collective self. We should never endorse war and violence.
when I was young in Seattle, and I had friends who had older brothers and sisters
who lived the hippie life. They always had the coolest posters on thier wall and the best rock music blasting on their record player. I was introduced to Jimi Hendrix at age 10 right before he went passed on.
So, what ever happened to these hippies? Many, many of us grew up, got jobs, got families and became mainstream ... on the surface. All these years later, we could be your law-abiding, solid-citizen, next-door neighbor. Youth had it's time, and it was then. Many of us though, me for sure, still carry this time in our hearts though ... the best days of our lives. These were the days, folks. Wish many of you younger viewers could have been there. You'd have loved it. Peace ... always.
Things about my life that haven't changed since the hippie days: I still get by with a little help from my friends, I still know The Beatles are the greatest band EVER, and I will always believe in peace and love. Oh, and I still don't trust the establishment. But...I have lightend up a bit on the part of not trusting anyone over thirty. LOL
My late dad bought a classic VW mini-bus (at 0:24) in 1966. My little brother and me once conspired to buy some cans of spray paint and spruce it up a bit with flowers and peace signs. But we wisely concluded, instead of peace and love, such a stunt would only get us a good ass whupping.
Alas, as the Age of Aquarius ended, dad went mainstream and traded in his mini-bus for a monstrous, V-8, leaded gas-guzzling, 1970 Ford Club Wagon. "Peace, love, and yes I do own the freaking road!"
The best was great. Mostly things were confused. There was misery too, especially in the aftermath. What's shown today is selective, unrepresentative. So, not much changes?
Except maybe there was more a sense of optimism, most people vaguely hoped or supposed and a handful really believed things would get better with the age old aquarium ;-) Anyway, your time is now. Its mostly (never wholly) up to you what you do with it. Be what yer can be ...& *never* believe the image makers

Seeing as that wasn't an actual war, you're dad never "marched into battle."

I can remember the hippies in my neighborhood
when I was young in Seattle, and I had friends who had older brothers and sisters
who lived the hippie life. They always had the coolest posters on thier wall and the best rock music blasting on their record player. I was introduced to Jimi Hendrix at age 10 right before he went passed on.
Till this day I listen to the Jimi.
And there was always a funny smelling smoke
coming out of their rooms!. PEACE - LOVE
