The world is not flat, search youtube for eratosthenes of cyrne, unless this guy proves his shit, no one is going to care how many jack ass books he writes , in Asia or anywhere else
is this a joke?... does this guy really write for the New York Times... he sounds like a dolt espousing globalization without any sound economic understanding
as he makes a pyramid with his hands, so in other words what you end up with is Dehumanization, lets face it in places like indonesia or in guangdong china human beings are being factory farmed by corporations: they have transformed humanity into a commodity, mankind has been robotized and no one noticed or cares.
they dont have time to care, they are distracted from birth by a glut of junk information and intentionally kept ignorant of their own past
The funny thing about American Intellectuals & Thought Leaders (including Chamosky & Friedman) is their thoughts, ideas and books are followed more outside US than within US. As a matter of fact, Noam Chamoksy, a well known, strong US Foreign Policy Critique,is strongly detested by Pro US Foreign policy followers & top Govt decision makers. Similarly, Friedman was a mere NY Times Columnist, though well respected, before he wrote The World is Flat.
Read Bad Samaritans: The Myth of Free Trade and the Secret History of Capitalism by Cambridge University Economist Ha-Joon Chang to realise the hypocrisy of Friedman's book The World is Flat.
You could try the book The Future of Money by Bernard Lietaer. The guy was a manager of currency funds, university professor, etc. He has interesting ideas on alternatives to the traditional monetary system, such as work-enabling currencies, community currencies. And he also provides a lucid introduction to the origins of money and the working of the monetary system.
If you like a more technical book you may want to read Kicking Away the Ladder by Dr. Chang. This the book is a more technical version of Bad Samaritans.
