My mum has the Chet Atkins Christmas album, the album cover is the one with the guitar resting against the tree in the snow. It gets played along with Jim Reeves 12 songs of Christmas every year without fail!!
Shows how much you know about the subject. NOTHING.
Perhaps you should do some background research before you make sweeping statements about people because I AM a MUSICIAN and a damned good one at that which is more than I can say for the idiot who ripped off the ignorant with this shit tune.
@dirtydonki Haha you don't know me at all. I have decades of music experience. If you can play ANY instrument as well as Chet Atkins played guitar, then give us a listen.
In his time Chet certainly was pretty good but by today's and even my playing standards he's a bit of a dinosaur who is easily surpassed.
How such a legend could stoop to invloving himself in such a dire piece of 'music' beggars belief & can only be likened to Jeff Becks regretable release of "Hi Ho Silver Lining".
It can only be about the money coz neither this nor "Hi Ho" could be called musical art by the stretch of anyones imagination. It's just Poop.
Hi Doug- Do you by any chance have a CLEAN copy of the original version Chet did of Little Drummer Boy? When the album (and later cd) was reissued, he added a bit more to it. I have 2 copies of the original album, and they are both loaded with surface noise. Would love the version I knew and loved as a child....
Thanks for this post. This was one of my favorite tunes on his Christmas album. It's the only christmas album my dad ever bought. This is what I heard every christmas along with the the Columbia records christmas album with Bing Cosby, Doris Day, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I miss those days.
If I remember right, this album came out in 1963 and was produced and arranged by Anita Kerr, the same Anita Kerr whose quartet does the great vocal backups on this cut. Kerr was Chet's assistant until 1964, when she left Nashville and started her great LA group.
I notice you posted this last year, no problem, it's timeless music. I remember how excited I was when I purchased the album "Christmas with Chet" more than 40 years ago. It of course sounds better today on my computer than it did on the little "stero" we had back then. Merry Christmas to ALL.
Christmas with Chet Atkins. A blast from the past! Reminds me of Christmas as a child along with Jim Reeves 12 Songs Of Christmas and The Scottish Melodies LP as well!
Well, I'm in the Christmas spirit! So that's a good thing. I will be posting most of Chet's Christmas recordings as well as Christmas music by other artists.
I thought it was about time to start Christmas music....like I said, If I wait till thanksgiving, I will be way behind the rest of the world. Especially the retail establishments.
Thank you & very Merry Christmas . Rick Wichita Kansas

@dirtydonki I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

@dirtydonki Why? Because you aren't used to hearing real music? Actual musicians playing real instruments?
