does it matter how many numbers you use in the table....like you used 5 numbers could i use, say 3?

For cube roots, you probably need about 5 points to really figure out what's going on. For square roots, 3 is probably enough. It also depends on which points you pick. If your picture isn't good enough, you need more points!

wait, where did you get those numbers from? like filling in 8 for x?

I just arbitrarily chose them. I picked values for x that would give me "pretty" values for y so they'd be easier to graph.
