to all those people who are so defensive about this... Lobsters shrimp and crabs don't have brains, just minor and very simple nervous systems. The boiling water kills the lobster immediately. Boiling and eating a lobster is no more harmful than eating a salad.

Actually the lobster dies pretty much instantly, It'll go into a shock induced coma VERY quickly. Within a few seconds.

And it'll be properly dead within 10-15 seconds, most likely less.

The movement they see for up till 30-45 seconds afterwards is residual muscle spasms and the bubbling boiling water pushing the body around.

As long as the water is PROPERLY boiling, this is about as humane as smashing it with a hammer, but far less damaging to the food.

That actually isn't true about more tender meat when you boil them alive. It is just the opposite, because their bodies and muscles tense and they also release toxic stress chemicals into their bodies up when dying in boiling water instead of being humanely and quickly killed before. Therefore making the meat more tense and less healthy.
