If Jennifer looks in the room he says, "Look, there's some... dust over here... give it a *wipe*." followed by a sexual moan. There's also a drawer at some part of the game where if you try and open it Clara slams it shut. If you try and look in it again either Jennifer freaks out because supposedly there are abortion tools in there.
I was always disappointed by the complete lack of creepiness in Clara's scream. It's just a boring generic scream that seems really out of place. It's a good game, but I wished they had made it a little scarier... Especially in the Clara/Mermaid scenes, the freaky potential in that boss fight was off the charts, yet all that was delivered was a fairly weak screech.
I felt so uncomfortable during this scene, checking to make sure no one else was around. It's a "WTF are you playing?!" moment.

I think Diana was molested by her parents, and that's why she's in the orphanage now. Spoilers. Clara was molested by Hoffman. Diana may have been beginning to experience the same inappropriate actions that were done unto Clara as Clara began to grow older. The reason why they never show Diana or Clara being molested, only through subtle actions and symbolism- is that Jennifer's mind is repressing memories of what she has seen that is Diana and Clara being violated by Hoffman. What she had witnessed was so traumatic, that she replaced the memories with more toned down variations.
I can't really say for the bloody shriekingness. Jennifer's mind seem to be a discombobulated source of both reality and fantasy. Possibly that she is only able to repress memories concerning real events- however they manifested in disturbing and grotesque creatures that she wasn't able to stop such as the mermaid and the imps. Some interpret Eleanor and Meg's laughing about Diana at the beginning of this particular chapter as their laughing about her getting in trouble with Hoffman in this scene (which occurs at the end of the chapter). I read from a website that Hoffman impregenated Clara (the "mermaid") so that's y she has 3 cuts on each wrist to resemble "gills" and a c section scar on her stomch. Don't remenber y her legs were tied up.
The mermaid, who is in fact an abstract version of Clara (the oldest of the orphans), was a boss and this is the cinematic that plays after you win that fight. As to what the boss symbolizes, this chapter of the game is highly suggestive of sexual molestation, of both Clara and Diana (the auburn-headed girl at the end). So the boss may represent Clara's hardships, her suffering. Also, the boss represents something to Jennifer, some sort of conflict between her and Clara, but it's not clear what.
In most cases yeah that could very well be the case.Most children who get molested tend to take out that anger the same way it was made to build up in them, and the way she treated the other girls actually shows that more.

I think their is symbolism with the way Hoffman is holding and wiggling his cane. He does it while talks to Diana and also does it when he eyes Jennifer.

So the boss may represent Clara's hardships, her suffering. Also, the boss represents something to Jennifer, some sort of conflict between her and Clara, but it's not clear what.

In most cases yeah that could very well be the case.Most children who get molested tend to take out that anger the same way it was made to build up in them, and the way she treated the other girls actually shows that more.

Is clara covered in blood? or is that her top?
+ that doll, has, what looks like a c section scar. which could possible mean that the reason why clara was so sickly is because Mr hoffman got her pregnent. And he cut the baby out of her.
+ theres that other part of the game where claras in the sick bay and she wont let you look in that dam draw. Maybe her fotus is inside it?

I think Hoffman had a habit of molesting Clara. (Which is why she is the mermaid boss) She was his main victim until he saw her as more of an adult than the rest of the orphans. At this time, he moved on to Diana, but not for long, because he soon leaves the orphanage. This is shown in his journal when he writes that he is leaving and putting Clara in charge because she is an "adult."

I think their is symbolism with the way Hoffman is holding and wiggling his cane. He does it while talks to Diana and also does it when he eyes Jennifer.
Also, notice the way he leaves the room quite satifsied and Diana choice of words. "Yuck, How disgusting". If he did rape her in the past, that is probably the way it went down.
Also she says, "oh look a stain, I better clean it up or Hoffman will be angry with me." Probably referring to seman being stained on her clothes.

Clara was a child in the orphanage, but when she grow-up, she decided stay theree for helping take care of the childrens, she was something like a nurse, kind, but pretty shy and quiet, that makes you think she was sexually abused by Hoffman

Hmm, I was sure he said "No new mummy and daddy will like you if you look like that" and I didn't get it... but if he really did say "don't like that" then it's beginning to make sense to me...
What I still don't get is whether he has actually been or planning to have a 'relationship' with Diana. And if so, why was he with Clara (who was apparently naked in the bed) before the battle?
