I am an Australian and found Zinn one of the clearest thinkers on the modern gold rule "we cant do war anymore" if we are to survive.

I was part of the leadership of the anti-war movement (SMC) at the University of Texas 1969-71. I was definately aware of Chomsky but didn't know about Zinn. Great man. At 62, I'm finally reading his books. Today is 9-11-2010. I thought we had learned our lesson in Vietnam. I never thought that the American public would be hoodwinked into another illegal war and elect someone as stupid as Bush. The Dems have blown it. I gave $500 to Obama. I'm back to being a democratic socialist.

What would Dr. Zinn say about the supreme court decision giving "free speech" rights to corporations? It just doesn't make sense...how can money be speech? I guess I am a mute b/c I am broke with my student loan, day care, and mortgage payments. I THINK DR. His life proves otherwise, he sang "America The Beautful" in Vietnam when he went there to free some POW, that is just one small example. Dr. Zinn is also a decorated WWII Veteran. He improved our country with the truth, I encourage you to do your own fact finding mission on this Great American Hero. God Bless Dr. Zinn. He was a combat veteran & most of all he was a decorated intellectual commander in the war for true deomcracy, freedom & justice for all. Howard Zinn was a GREAT American, and I am honored to have been introduced to his works, his truthful view of American and world history from the view of REAL people rather than corporations, when I was an undergraduate at university... He was an amazing scholar who revealed the flip side of history that is rarely sanctioned by corporately sanctioned academia... He has done America a great great service by reminding us of our true past...
