  • uni has a horrible taste if you let it get really warm. it's best to eat it right away.

  • really rich creamy flavor. i dive for uni in northern california

  • I didn't care for the taste, and I've already tried it twice. I love the 'sea' taste of it, but the aftertaste is rather unpleasant.

  • dumb asss, eat it one bite.

  • @zzzthaoster It's really hard to do with uni, the bite is really too big for one mouthful.

  • We usually shell around a hundred of them after a days diving. real salty taste. Delicious, a maori delicacy in New Zealand

  • what a nice people

  • Nice... Trilingual at least.

  • You only eat the sea urchin roe aka the eggs of the sea urchin, not the actual urchin itself

  • @jkim152 Actually you eat the gonads, not the eggs.

  • First off you eat sushi with your hands, and you eat the whole thing in one bite. Its sushi etiquette. And Uni is fucking delicious if its FRESH. Don't order uni unless the chef assures that it is very fresh. It tastes slightly sweet and oceanic, with a pleasant soft melt in your mouth velvety texture. That combined with the taste of the Nori and the wasabe with a little soy is AWESOME. Uni is for real sushi eaters only.

  • sea urchin i just had not long ago. it was a different texture, kind of like oysters really soft and mushy but the taste was like something found on the bottom of the ocean floor a very distinct unusual flavor.

  • wow what a pussy eat the whole thing in one bite

  • Uh oh, sushi eating taboo...

You're not supposed to bite it in half!

  • looooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

    thats nice^^

  • Yuk, that tastes like shit.

  • Try a quail egg on top of the sea urchin next time.

    Yummy!

  • sea urchin is my favorite sushi though its the most expensive T.T

  • i like fresh food but cooked not alive and not raw thank you lol

  • I LOVE UNI! I live in san diego where you can buy live sea urchins for $5 and clean them yourself. There's 5 pieces in one urchin and its fresher than any high end sushi bar. I put all of the cleaned uni's in a bowl, mix a little olive oil, lemon, and sea salt. Then smear over toasted french bread, AMAZING

  • not eating the whole peice isint proper edicate! :O

  • singaporean Oo?

  • So you have to go to japan for a better sushi? Well I tried some sushi that my brother brought from somewhere and it tasted really bad!!! May be I should go to a better place where they make a better sushi.

  • @victormania2008 some of the packaged sushi goes off with a weird smell and taste. tis best to go to a restaurant that has a sushi chef serving it on the go as those are so fresh and tasty.

  • @HAPPYDRAGON6 yeah that is so true, i had to experience one from a good restaurant myself.

  • I love uni. I always order it if the restaurant has some in stock. It has a strong iodine flavor, but I love it.

  • It's test so so so good.

  • At first, I thought it tasted like shit, but when I tried it again, I fucking loved it.

  • wtf lol? how did it go from shit to amazing?

  • @dogstyle2222 i guess what happens when your taste buds develop

  • Tried some just today and it was... interesting... I hate to dismiss something after my first time but it was pretty tough to swallow. But don't let my comment deter you from trying it.

  • i had this in toyohashi and was the worst piece of sushi i have ever tasted lol

  • i feel scared to try sushi because it's raw.. that's why i search for "what sushi taste like" n found this vid :D hahahah

  • nothin wrong with eating raw fish

  • that is the whole difference. very fresh sea food vs canned or day old, not the same animal at all.

  • agreed

  • That looks delicious.

  • go uni! i may be 11, but i would probably kill a-cat if i could eat uni whenever i want

  • the fresh ones taste really good

kinda like a hint of sweetness

while the "non fresh" ones are usually preserved in whiskey <--- not a fan of

  • Oh man I miss Japan

  • It was my first time to eat sea urchin sushi. I work for a Japanese company in new york then we have our lunch with my colleuges. They said this yellow paste sushi is sea urchin. It tasted like a fishy in a creamy texture. It was weird.

  • yeah dude. the first time i had it, i thought it was weird too. i didn't like it until about the 3rd time i had it, and now every time i go out for sushi, i NEED the sea urchin sushi lol. it really does have to be fresh though, and fresh wasabi complements it well.

  • i always wanted to taste the so called bad tasted "Oni" Sushi...... dats wat they say in my skool........ well they hav it in a sushi shop but its too expensive lol

  • oni means demon im pretty sure lol its uni

  • @dogstyle2222 yeah but alot of nearby students called it Oni because it tastes bad i tried one already and it was awesome! can't wait to try another one

  • ow so thats why mine taste bad...

    it wasnt fresh

    damn

  • omg i whant it.. its strong flavor? like wasabbe? or something? all of the urching its eateble?

  • seriously... it was tasteless..

the urchin's spiky in the outside, u can't eat that.. you only eat whats in the inside, after removing its spiky shell...

  • it has a creamy texture and a slightly sweet taste. a lot of people have described it as custard like.

  • muchas gracias! "thank you so much!"

  • with a little egg on top, this stuff is fantastic.

  • Really? I must try it next time

  • agreed

  • quail egg yolk.

  • that's the stuff but, if you've ever had a bad piece....

  • Good to see that somebody like it..
