  • will there be any new models with emitter shrouds?? I know there's not much purpose, but that would be pretty cool

  • @cablecar830 Who knows. I am open to suggestions, as I've not yet designed the next model.

  • hey i have another question, are you planning on selling some of the saber props you used for your older films? also, are you ever thinking of making a lightsaber fight with an actual story? :) you know, what with the clones and all, it could be a 3-way fight, you, brandon and dorkman fighting, hey, dorkman could have a mechanical hand, and there could be two ryans :D, but then again thats just me daydreaming and i think it would be asking to much of you

  • @spiderlolo100 No specific plans to sell saber models as seen in the fights. I mean, many design elements of my saber in RvD2 carry through to the Novus. Dorkman's saber is very simple, might be a good candidate for a next version because it would be more inexpensive. And someday I would like to made a double-bladed saber model as well.

  • @SabershopDotCom haha, awesome, good to know that, do you have a site, or someplace where you showed the saber props for ALL your movies?

  • @spiderlolo100 Not specifically, no. Just the films.

  • will you make replicas of the star wars movies?

  • @spiderlolo100 No, Sabershop will never make replica sabers. One reason is that I want to stay clear from any misrepresentation of affiliation with Lucasfilm/Hasbro/Master Replicas, etc. And the other (bigger) reason is that I am more interested in creating new, original designs that aren't what others have already made.

  • @SabershopDotCom haha :P ok, just wanted to know

  • I am not sure on weather I should get one or not they look amazing but I'm still not sure what should I do?

  • @SuperPaulybear Well, it depends on what you're looking for, and what you can afford, of course. I attest that there is no better saber for dueling in the world.

  • Will you come out with a new design soon?

  • @airborne4325 I am hoping to move forward on a second model in 2012, but it depends on Novus sales this year, since I have to get that capital to re-invest into the development of the next saber line.

  • @SabershopDotCom do you also plan to create a curved-hilt lightsaber?

  • @AnikaLovelace No plans, no. That kind of hilt would be much more tricky to build. I also never saw the appeal of a curved handle, personally.

  • Is it possible to make a saber that the blade actually goes into the hilt and out with the push of a button

  • @Starcraft2playa That would be mechanically challenging, very expensive, and definitely wouldn't be a very strong blade. But it would be kind of nifty, for show.

  • @SabershopDotCom

I really want to make a fight and need some stunt sabers, but because of our low income I'm not able to afford the hilt. I looked every where else and parksabers takes a extremely long time to make anything nowadays. I was wondering if maybe the stunt blades were adaptable to cheaper hilts...

(Even though the blade was made for the hilt.)

Maybe you could give me a raw tubing? No exterior design, but the same shock absorbent rings?

  • @ThoseScallywags Sabershop only sells carbon fiber tubing made for the Novus. I am not aware of any other sabers that have a system anything like the Novus for retaining the blade, so I couldn't make any recommendations there.

  • Are you still making these? I'm interested in making my own fight, and I need reliable stunt sabers. Aluminum bends way too easy.

  • @ThoseScallywags Yep! I am fully stocked and shipping orders within one week!

  • RvB3 please

  • can i ask how u did the scene where u just have the lightsaber and u see the blade come out did u like stop recording and put the blade in??? ( ryan vs brandon 2 )

  • @MegaGameSpoof Yes, for the shots where the sabers turn on or off, we take out the blade and just add it in digitally.

  • @SabershopDotCom Wow, really nice design. If i could buy one, i will use it every single day, i will dress like Obi Wan and go free on the street with a Novus in my belt.

  • When you read that, you must know: This is the best stunt lightsaber you can get. I received it a month ago and its fantastic. Better than every other saber I know. I am thinking of entering lightsaber choreography competition. Hope there will be more models. May the force and this awesome lightsaber be with you.

  • Everybody who views this do yourself a favor and GET ONE! I received mine a month ago and have simply NOT BEEN ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!

The quality is on par if not higher than what you would fine in a Master Replicas, Park Sabers, EFX, etc replica saber. It's light, comfortable to hold, and incorporates all of the elements that would find in any movie quality saber while not being absurdly priced. I know I'll be the first in line for the next Sabershop saber!

  • These lightsabers are incredible, they're very well made and look fantastic. You should definitely release a double edged lightsaber model.

  • Please don't stop what you are doing! it is an amazing talent to make such a thing.

  • Something to consider for future designs, perhaps, is that every (canon) lightsaber was unique in its design; could creating a bare-bones handle (which would include all interior tech aspects of the Novus) with customizable "skins" (exterior shells of different designs and configurations) be possible? Certainly the Novus is possum-grade awesome, but until you come out with more designs, the novelty of it may wear down quickly on a purely aesthetic level once all us amatuers get our paws on it.

  • @Hyrvydder My goal is to provide a line of different models, but accumulating the funds to start work on a new model is going slower than I had expected. Hopefully this year!

  • @SabershopDotCom I understand completely; I'm trying to save for a new laptop myself and it's taking much longer than expected. I wish I had more spare cash that I could just donate to your cause (I may end up doing so regardless, just because I want to support your future work, and I'm willing to wait for the return on the investment). We'll see how my finances shape up these coming months.

  • The force is strong with you, Weiber

  • Wonder what other custom hilts will be available besides the Novus? (don't get me wrong, the Novus still looks awesome)

  • You have no idea how tempted I am to get myself a Novus. I'm thinking of entering LCC for the 10th anniversary and it would be cool to have a Novus in my hand. One question though, who do you usually use for shipping internationally? I only ask because I recently got burned by FedEx who sent debt collectors after me for import taxes that I had already paid. They even threatened to bring me to court. It was unneeded stress and I am wary of dealing with FedEx again.

  • @jedsithor I use USPS Priority Mail. It is the least expensive, I have found, in trying to keep shipping costs low to the customer. it always gets there but sometimes on international orders, customs can hold it up for weeks. That may not be just USPS though.

  • This is by far the best quality saber i've seen on the interwebs, out of curiosity though, do you or will you in the future accept customer made designs? I ask because if I ever got one i'd want it to really be the one for me you know? Love your vids, anyone else think there should be a group fight one? :)

  • @Reti4 Thanks! I do not have plans to offer any custom work in the future though, sorry. My goal is to offer a line of different models to choose from.

  • will there be a double bladed version of this someday?

  • @sdsuS3 I would certainly like to offer one. We'll see!

  • @sdsuS3 that would be glorious, even the RvB2 version i would love to own

  • you should sell the saber handle you use in RvB2 that snaps together to form a double lightsaber

  • Ohhhh it looks so awesome <3

Really good job, I'm sure I'll buy it later this year.

You and Dorkman are the reason why I want to work with SFX. Your Lightsaber Movies are the best I've ever seen.

If I ever get half talented as you guys I'll be Happy :)

  • well done ryan i wanna get my ove lightsaber ive been trainin for years at th art of the lightsaber n i sooo wanna get a novus!!!!!!!!!!!!! but how do u get one tho?????

  • @Vlordska940 You can order through sabershop, com, on the Buy Now page.

  • @SabershopDotCom sweet thanxs my birthday is in just about a week so il get one then :)

  • umm is the Novus still available.?

  • @otto142 Yes! Just order through the website.

  • Is there any chance that your company will start making custom handles anytime soon?

  • @StormKat30 No plans to start doing custom orders, sorry. Sabershop's goal is to design and produce its own models to sell.

  • when will come the day which you can wield a real light saber?? COME ON Science and Technology, work faster and make the dream of millions come true.

  • @juangonzalez09 Actually, they already have them. the government is just not willing to share.

  • Just curious, is there anything in Star Wars stuff that you can't do super professionally?

  • Very cool i will definatly get one you shoulld make more though

  • Seriously considering buying this. I love the design, and the use of carbon fiber is just genius. Had no idea this existed for a year now haha.

  • I ordered one yesterday. When will it come? (I live in Germany)

  • @thenextryanwieber Shipped it out this morning! Should take 1-2 weeks. Usually it's closer to 1 week, but holiday times can slow things down. Should have it before Christmas, though. :)

  • could you make a custom hilt LED,LED lightsaber

  • @TheGrandthefter Sorry, Sabershop does not do custom work, just selling the Novus for now.

  • Just ordered mine! Any idea when it will be shipped?

  • @Newbyrock23 Monday! Maybe Tuesday. :)

  • Hey Ryan

I am interested in purchasing a lightsaber and everything.

However, you should come out with dual-connecting lightsabers whereas you can use 1, 2 separately, or 2 interlocked for a dual sided lightsaber

That would really be cool though....

  • so quick question..are there going to be more models soon? cuz i want them but obviously if 2 people are fighting they cant have sabers that look the exact same lol

  • @Danny121208 That is a goal I will be working toward in 2012.

  • @SabershopDotCom okay sweeeeeet..thanks for responding...lookin forward to it

  • hes just 27 years old! why does he look so old?

  • i want one.... :)

  • btw, does sabershop ship to the uk? and what forms of payment do you take?

  • @beastdude Sabershop will ship anywhere in the world! Half of our business is to international customers. :) And we take any major credit card, PayPal, or e-check. Ordering page will be back up later tonight, with shipping starting December 1st.

  • best idea ever for securing a blade in the hilt, i may have to get one of these.

  • sorry Brandon not Brian

  • Ryan, the lightsaber looks great. One day I was searching up lightsabers and it led me to three in the afternoon. Tell Travis he should let you Brian and dork man be in nine. Also when I get the novus saber, I will use it in my film. I hope you will see it. It would be great for my channel if a legend like you put your opinion on my channel.

  • Hey Ryan. I'll probably get the Novus once you restock, but I was wondering if you'll be making different props too. When I make my vids, I want to have different lightsaber props for each peep, but don't want to copy your lightsaber props. Thanks!

  • @NintendoGamer213596 Yeah I'm looking forward to getting onto a new model, but it'll still be a little while though.

  • Which will come out first? A new saber hilt or RVD3? :D

  • Wow! Awesome Ryan! Update when and if you come out with new models.

  • I'm waiting for you to release a double-bladed saber model.

  • THAT IS ONE SEXY LIGHT SABER HANDLE!!!!!!!!!

  • when can I buy a novus?

  • @thenextryanwieber Currently restocking, switching to a new manufacturer. It'll be sabershop, com as always once I have them to sell.

  • @SabershopDotCom very good. I was writing a mail to you about shipping and when you have it :)

  • Ryan are you ambidextrous? Or do you just practice with your other hand?

  • you should make replicas of your old hilts

  • but will it blend?

  • @Surakemastura probably not. It's get banged, dented, scratched and mangled... but the body is solid aluminum, it's unlikely that it would actually get broken apart. Certainly not blended. ;)

  • That is some cool stuff. I wants one.

  • Will u ever make the hilts that screw together like in your RyanVsBrandon videos available for purchase? Or perhaps custom novus's that can do so? Hope you reply to this, thank you!

  • Really cool! Ive gotta take a metal working class...

  • 3:36 cute girl :)

  • @IanasAnd All this awesomeness, and all you can think of is a cute girl? Shows how much of a Star Wars nerd you are. ;)

    LOVE IT!!!

  • How much is a lightsaber? I am good fan of Star Wars Saga, all books, all games in order EVERYTHING!! I want one! are sharp, I love it! I seriously want one, please tell me about this lightsaber how much?? God bless

  • @alerock24 The website will have the pricing once I have them up for ordering again. Taking longer than I had hoped... but eventually will re-open.

  • your welcom for the idea

  • Looking forward to see the new graphic engineering of Future Star wars from new director like you:)

  • I want so badly... But what happened to the site? I look for it and something says that it's Pending renewal...

  • @KamuiGakupoid Sorry, spaced out on my domain renewal for a couple days. it's all back up and running now.

  • @SabershopDotCom Yay! Thank you so much!

  • dude, i totally want to work with you cuz

im really good at making sabers (well, im going to be)!

  • Do you think it'd be possible for someone to drill a hole in the bottom of 2 Novus' so you could put them together to make a staff saber, or would they just break apart? I have 2 of them already and I can't quite work it out :D

  • @henrystumblrblog Presumably you could, but of course I can't endorse using it in a way that could potentially be unsafe. The saber would not break apart if you drilled a hole in the bottom.

  • how long is it?

  • @EbayEuron The handle is about 10 inches in length.

  • i want one...

  • -_- i want one...

  • Comment removed

  • @rosemaks You just go to the page that says "Buy Now", it's the right-most button on the navigation bar. The, there are buttons to add items to the cart. The experience should be like most any other online checkout.

  • this look awesome i am a huge star wars fan and alot of that is because of the lightsaber fights! every episode has a awesome duel and i learned a few moves but the force fx sabers are heavy and though designed to sound on contact you will lose an led light easy! i want one of these i love playing with sabers and i just have to find a willing spar buddy to learn from and to teach!

  • nice lightsaber, great design!! how heavy is it - because in the making a new hope I think it was - George lucas was adiment that lightsabers were really heavy

  • @raysetiger285 It's true, however, for the later films, especially the prequels, you can see that he wanted to free it up for more intense, fast choreography, and they treat the lightsabers as very light.

  • @SabershopDotCom youre probly right about that. That was to show the diference in skill of fully trained jedi in there prime as oposed to Luke, who - when compared to them had only had very basic training and not much of it and also Vader, who, as a result of being turned mostly into a machine (or cyborg if you prefure) was only a shadow of his former self

  • Wow! you look much older but it doesn't seem like it has been that long....??

  • hey ryan will you be using this saber hilt in future films because this looks great! it is a very cool look for a lightsaber :D

  • @disturbedfan0717 Almost certainly. Thanks!

  • ok dude how much does it cost? I want it, I am from Argentina, and some friends and me are making some short movies

  • @alnashok Prices are on the site, sabershop . com

  • Ryan, I have a compliment and a question for you;

    1. You are a genius and a hero to the franchise! George Lucas would be proud!

    2. Will you be designing any other lightsaber models? Please do!! I'll buy them all!!!

  • @VirgilwithanE 1. Thanks! 2. Yes, I want to create more models in the future, hopefully not too far int he future.

  • @SabershopDotCom You're most welcome dude!

And sorry I didn't notice about a hundred people already asked you the same question! I was in mid-nerdgasm when I posted, so yeah! lol Keep up the epic work!

  • do you ship to england and can you give me an estimate on delivery and import duty?

    Thanks alot

  • @Fxhomer7 Sabershop ships to anywhere in the world! :) Usually ships out within 1 week of ordering, and generally takes 1-4 weeks depending on country and customs. Typically on the faster end of that range. I am not sure how import taxes work for the various countries...

  • Can you drop it and will it still be fine?

  • @shadowario Structurally, it is nearly indestructable, however, it has a very fine polished finish that would scratch or dent if you dropped it on hard surfaces or hit on sharp edges, etc. So I recommend using it over grass or other softer surfaces, especially for practicing... unless you're so good you never drop it. ;)

  • 67.582 views, EPIK

  • That is damn sexy.

  • when u buy one does it already come with a stunt blade?????

  • @xnplazmanx No, the stunt blades and the Novus are sold separately, so if you would like one, you have to order it in addition to the Novus.

  • I LUV LIGHTSABERS AND MANDALORIANS LIKE BOBA FETT

    ANYWAY NICE JOB BRO

  • This hasnt got more views.. HOW?

  • I want a metal lathe now.

  • You should have a kind of lock on the end of the sabers so you can make a double light saber, like in Ryan vs Brandon 2.

  • When you animate the lightsaber in after effects, do you do it frame by frame?

  • @KnightedKingdom7 Generally, yeah, you end up needing to keyframe pretty much every frame.

  • But Ryan always loses even though I root for him? Why should we take his word?

  • Ryan Weber of Ryan vs. Dorkman? awesome!

  • hi ryan im new in this sort of thing me and my friends

we want to make a mini movie like star wars...(diferent story line)

i just want to know is i could novuz this any type of program to put effects in it?

plz let me now as soon as possible and thanks ;)...

  • @wolfiebaby26 Yes, you can use any visual effects program to put the glows on. Most people use Adobe After Effects, which is possibly the easiest to get and learn.

  • @wolfiebaby26 just use effects lab lite or the vision lab demo. there both free and work great!

  • Is there a cheaper modle for sale?

  • @blackwaterboy2 No, for right now there is only one model.

  • sick!!!! i want one

  • Three questions.

    1) Are you offering or planning on making a double blade shoto (short) lightsaber?

    2) Any plans in the future for making a Lightwhip (Lightsaber and a Whip)?

    3) Do you offer more customised lightsaber types/hilts?

  • @VADATHEARBITER I do not do any custom work, and I do not really have any interest in a lightwhip product. I have no plans for a short saber product either, but wouldn't that just be a shorter blade?

  • @SabershopDotCom

Thanks for the reply! But yes, that would be a shorter blade. I'm just asking because I'm developing my own Form that calls for a double-bladed, short lightsaber in my primary hand and a full, regular lightsaber in my off hand. I guess you could shorten your existing blade for a shoto and extend it for a double (and lengthening the handle). I'm already going to tell my friends about your great product. This would be a product to sell at a Star Wars conviention. Good Luck!

  • im not being mean but your futher looks just like eric clapton

  • now where can i learn to saber fight

  • Do you have any other models you are currently designing or will be releasing soon?

unrelated question: why are you always the guy who loses and dies in your lightsaber videos? \:)

  • @RickMojave I am working toward developing a new model, however I have not yet begun. So it will be a while. But it is my goal for the future.

  • @SabershopDotCom hey ryan, how come you don't sell the ones that you've used in the RvD and RvB series?

  • @spacedino64 I'm more interested in developing new designs, but I will bear your interest in mind for future model ideas.

  • i have a few questions

    1. how do i get a blue or other colored carbon fiber rod? i can't see that "instructions to merchant box"

    2. why don't your saber duel videos have a plot? no offense intended i love your videos but just two guys fighting with lightsabers seems kind of piontless without a reason for them fighting

  • @364dragonrider Yeah, some people report not seeing the Instructions to merchant box. Just go ahead and send me an email letting me know your color preference (same address as the paypal account, ryan at sabershop)

To your second question, I think it's mainly that we both are simply interested in fight scenes and lightsabers, and are not interested in telling a broader Star Wars universe story. The saber dueling is the part that excites us and that we enjoy making.

  • how exactly DO you make a lightsaber light up? in a video, i mean.

  • @364dragonrider Time-consuming visual effects work. I use Adobe After Effects. If you search YouTube for lightsaber tutorials in After Effects, you should get quite a few walk-throughs. I also have written tutorials on ryan-w.com.

  • i wunt one

  • Ryan from Ryan v. Dorkman?

  • Dude... That is sweet. And it looks so clean. So excited to hear about your website. Hope it does well for you, and hope to be a patron in the future.

  • ...awesome saber to bad its not the kind that lights up...

  • @jedimasters246 We shot that specifically for use in this video, we didn't much besides exactly what you see in this video itself.

  • Have you considered taking submissions on possible saber designs? I really like the Novus and hope to buy one or another model when released as soon as possible. Great work on the sabers, I hope to see more great designs.

  • Would you consider making a video on the whole process in which you make the saber from start to finish?

  • @landporpus I think that would make a good video feature, however at this time I do not personally build the sabers by hand, so it would be more of an endeavor to document each part of the process. Perhaps in the future.

  • I want one. When I have enough money saved I will buy a couple. He has inspired me to try to do a saber video with my kids and they are excited about it. I think it will be lots of fun. Thank you Ryan.

  • me and my buddies will be getting sme next month when we get our pay checks cant wait to take it to spokon

  • o i was confused for a sec, i thought these were like force fx sabers, do you plan to make force fx like sabers that you can battle with, in addition to your stunt sabers?

  • @Kaosknght Someday I may be able to get into lighted props. I'd like to, just will take a little time to get there.

  • I thought that it was real : )

  • this looks awesome! im most certainly checking into getting some.

  • "Penetrated... Solid rod"

Okay people, that's enough lightsaber inuendos!

    I want on of those!

  • i have a quick question, how does one go about getting licensing to sell something trademarked by lucas, its there some kind of form to fill out? im looking into making resin lightsaber hilts {nothing fancy its only the hilt for cosplayers that need the prop}. if you could give me a shout out that would be awesome

  • @Dyyor I couldn't tell you. I specifically do not make replicas and on the site do not use the term "lightsaber" which is copywritten by LFL. Also on the bottom of each page I try to be clear that I am not affiliated with any of the Lucas companies. I think the only official partners are Hasbro and Master Replicas.

  • this may have been answered already....does it come in different styles (obi-wan, vader ect)?

  • @1991MRjesse No, right now there is just the Novus model. In the future I want to offer multiple models, but I have no plans to go into replica saber designs.
