God bless you SRV. A day never goes by when I don't listen to your music, or play your songs on the old Fender. "This world was a better place just to see you born"
RIP SRV - Does anyone actually recall the footage of Hendrix at Woodstock - in particular the shots from the stage showing how few of the crowd bothered to hang around to see him? I remember it as a brilliant performance from the Woodstock double album. When I watched the footage for the first time again since being quite a youngster, the Hendrix footage almost made me weep. They tried to keep the camer angle tight to limit showing how few were there. JH & SRV - Just tragic
@DrBlahaha To be fair, it was because of the really crappy weather and field conditions. Plus, as Jimi was the headliner, he was pushed back to the last slot at like 9 in the morning. He could have waited until night time but Jimi was too nice and went on anyway completely exhausted. What a performance though.
omfg compare John Mayers "waiting on the world to change" to this song, John mayer has copied so many of SRV's styles, i know he's his influence.. but thats just too much.
I love the message of this song. We all definitly need to get on the same 'wave length' and help each other out. The problems of the world, such as starvation, disease, famine, etc, need to be eliminated. I know it is an extremely hard task, but look at all of the progress man kind has made. Why is it so hard to ask for cooperation? We have made so much progress in our history. Why not do something for the major problems we face? The new generation needs to pave the way for the future.
I was 16 yrs old on the stage singing with u and i was so happy to have known u and u got me to go on tour- The taste of the northshore summer party winter island park Salem Willows so long ago!! When I listen to this song I can't believe 2 months after u and your brother did this song to the day u past away! Still listen to your music until I die i owe my singing life to you and the guys later peace out!!!
You really think so? I didn't think he was at Woodstock, also his guitar strap is backwards from where he usually wears it (video= left handed and he's actually a righty).
@daslatrobe people say john mayer has no talent and he steals his stuff from SRV, but who you think SRV got it from? Jimi Hendrix, and who did Jimi get it from? Elmore James, and who did he get it from? who knows? robert johnson maybe, it seams he the root of it all
hahah nice job :p John Mayer is big now, SRV died in 1990.. that's like nearly 20 years ago. How can Stevie be a rip off on John Mayer when John mayer was 13 years when Stevie died? hurray for you!
I went to see SRV at his last concert in Michigan (Pine Knob) and this song reminds me of that . The three notes on the solo at 2:53 are the three prettiest notes ever played.
This is a simply very beautiful song. Words and music just seem to go so perfect together. I can listen to this over and over and never get tired of it. His solo is just PERFECT and in the right place at the right time................Nothing fancy, just simple and correct.
It's been over 18 years since Stevie passed away and I still miss seeing him play to this day. I still remember hearing about this on the radio on my way to class and was in shock when I heard about the crash. It's a wonderful song that makes you think about life and the limited time we have to enjoy it. Thank you for pasting it.
brillant song! would have loved to have been at woodstock. Got the privledge of meeting henry mccullough not so long ago which was cool. RIP Jimi and Stevie
Probably my favorite Vaughan song. Always gotta think about the world and people around us, and it makes the message even better coming from Stevie Ray.
This song should be played on every radio station in the world, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS etc. every day for one year in place of fear news. Look close at the woodstock vid and you will see my sister watching Hendrix ! Yea, there she is...the girl with the blond hair. We should make Jimi's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner the official version. If elected, I WILL make this an executive order. My name is JB and I approve of this message...even if you don't. Thank you , and God Bless.
This if one of my fav SRV songs! How amazing is it that this song, after its release 18 years ago, is so appropriate for the times we, as a nation, are going through now. RIP Stevie. Your music still touches us today.
"One night while sleeping in my bed
I had a beautiful dream
That all the people of the world got together
On the same wavelength
And began helping one another
Now in this dream universal love
was the theme of the day
Peace and understanding and it happened this way..."
It's such a beautiful thing not having to read comments like "blabla is a better guitar player than blabla"...It makes me happy to only read comments of people that tell how much they love this song, and what memories they connect with the song...It's a beautiful piece of music that should be shared with everybody, because it's got something really peaceful and happy, it makes me hope that our world will become a more peaceful and friendly place to be, so let's all help together to make it true.
I'm a huge SRV fan, and this is one of my favorite songs of all time. Plus, the original video to this song is available on Yahoo videos under the "Vaughan Brothers". RIP Stevie Ray - you are still deeply missed!!
I almost cry every time I listen to this album because it provides me crazy memories of 2nd and 3rd grade. I would do anything to break away from college for a while and go back to the days. Going back on topic now, this song is beautiful.
