  • do you have to seperate them if you have a small colony?

  • @Nate4991 - Separating nymphs from your colony is totally up to you. Thanks for checking out the vids!

  • This is good stuff man. Thanks.

  • where's a good place to get those big cardboard egg crates from?

  • I like your vid. Very informative. I have a question on harvesting, though. How often do you harvest a breeder colony for the babies? Once a week, month, etc.

  • @fdi150 Thanks for checkin out the video and glad it helped you. I harvest my roach colonies once a month here at TRR.

  • that is a good helpful video thank you for your help

  • @fifeplaster N/p at all. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words. -Ian

  • great vid but why do you have to seperate them?

  • @bristolborn33 I separate them cuz I breed them in such large quantities. Easier to keep them in the same size so that I can gather them together quicker for sales. Thanks for checkin out the vids!

  • Awesome video!

  • hey i have a roach emengercy i just baught 100 roaches and i cant find one male do imature male have wings because i dont know and if i got 100 females then im gonna be pissed plese respond

  • @herpdude122 If you have nymphs you won't know until they molt to adults. Nymphs are flat brown no matter how big they are. Adult males have long wings and cannot be confused w/ the other nymphs and females. The adult females will be jet black w/ orange spots when they molt.

  • @herpdude122 You probably have nymphs. If they are flat brown you'll have to wait until they molt to adults to find out what you have. Males have the long wings and females will be shiny jet black w/ orange sports.

  • May I juat say, Nice tattoos!!!

  • @FlameSpartan Thanks!

  • hey dude ive got a very nice question for you... you'll be able to answer it if you do have tarantulas :)... How do i feed my tarantulas with blapticas???? Do I have to cut their limbs?? Thx

  • @edgardo1988 I'm by no means a Tarantula expert but everyone I know feeds their T's w/ those long tweezers or foreceps you see people using. There's no need to cut them up. Your T's will do a good job of that!

  • @TheRoachRanch1 thx!!!

  • @TheRoachRanch1 Why don't you have any roaches for sale at the moment?

I'm looking to upgrade to Dubias

  • @FlameSpartan I sell A LOT of Dubia. I'm one of the few dealers that will ship super crazy quantities w/o problem. I also deal w/ a lot of Reptile breeders that buy in big quantity. What happened is this dam cricket virus. All of a sudden everyone and their mother came looking for roaches (not that I'm complaining) and bought me outta everything. My colonies are breeding but can't keep up and now my suppliers have dried up. It's not good. I've got Discoids and Lats cooking also.

  • @TheRoachRanch1 I don't know anything about discoids and my turks are too fast for my tiny T's and scorps, so slow and bulky seems the way to go.

I did, however pick up some new roaches today. I'll be uploading a video in a few minutes. If you could look at it and tell me what they are then I would very much appreciate it

    :D

  • Hey Ian, do you keep a certain ratio of male to female? Or you just let them do their thing and separate males if you see too many?

  • @ImperialGeckos Yes I do this. Up to 500 Females I keep a 5 to 1 ratio of Female to males. Anything above 500 Females I jump to a 10 to 1 ratio of Females to Males. You really don't need that many males to keep a colony rolling. As a matter of fact if you have too many you can slow down production since they get pretty rowdy when the lights go down and they start to jockey for territory and mates. All the excess males are perfect food for your animals!

  • awesome video man! ive just started a colony and was wondering how to seperate them this has helped alot, you legend

  • My pleasure, I'm happy the video helped you.

  • you took my advice haha on making more vids this is a good one.....if you guys need roaches buy from ian they are great

  • Thanks man! We have a bunch of them in production. Never know what's coming next! LOL! Glad you enjoyed this.

  • great vid.

nice trick with the tape, too.

  • Nice video, good tip on sorting. Have you ever had a problem with ants? I did this summer. Ants got into one of my bins and were just after the food, didn't bother the roaches.

  • I've never got ants but a couple of my customers have. The only thing thing I can think of is that the ants are already in the house somewhere. Either in the walls, dead wood. A lot of times they'll get into your house if you have trees overhanging the roof.

  • Yeah, the ants live under the house and come up through the cracks. I can't spray for them because of all my critters and bugs. I put bait traps down and they went around them. So I put my bin on a short rack with the legs in cups of water. Thats working so far.

  • P.S. I loved the special effects of the roach crawling on the screen, ha ha!

  • That was cool! I bred my own Mealworms so I might give this a try. Now what kind of roaches are those? They look like the palmetto roaches we have here in Florida.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the video. These guys are Blaptica Dubia Cockroaches. Check your e-mail here on youtube. I'll send you some information.

  • Nice tutorial!

  • That is pretty cool. Thanks for the tip

  • Awesome, very helpful. Thanks so much!

  • No problem at all, thanks for watching!

  • HAHAHA
