  • Almost....

  • he knocked it over so he obviously sucks

  • @TheOnlyMrRager you're an idiot

  • @joebro391 i obviously was using sarcasm

  • @joebro391 you're lacking a sense of humor

  • @keewee1091 why do people always tell me that?! GOSH!!!

  • press 4 over and over again its funny

  • prolly a 16 footer because its 2 under the bar it looks. and thats a damn fine vault

  • what length pole is that

  • if he put his head back more and looked at the ground he would have got it

  • There have only been six high schoolers ever to jump 18 feet or higher.

  • Actually the reason altius poles dont behave like a ucs spirt is because the point at which they actually bend. The ucs pole bends in the middle. The Altius pole however bends higher which would require the vaulter to invert faster to get the same throw out of the pole.....I learned that from Rick Attig

  • @Bunkermonkey777 the brand of the pole does not determine where it bends. it's the sail piece. shorter poles bend in the middle cuz that's where the sail piece is. but with a longer pole, the sail piece is higher. that's why is bends higher. trust me. i'm obsessed with my spirits and my 15' spirit has a higher sale piece than my others and you can see the bend.

  • @Bunkermonkey777 altius are posibly the most inferior poles desighned. ucs and pacers are the onle onces adiquate. and its even worse if you compare a altius to say a pacer carbonFX. altius are not nearly sutable to support any decent vaulter. (anything over a straitpole height)

  • @haks11ence I know they are inferior that's why i use only CarbonFX and UCS poles

  • @Bunkermonkey777 gotta go carbon. the snap they give you at the end of the recoil is like no other. i used to rock a bright lime green monster pole too. i think i was the only one in NJ using one my senior year. states, meet of champs, etc, i never saw another.

  • Oh yeah. And I use a 13'7" 165 pole. I'm trying to work on this 15' 155 pole. I don't know the flex but I'm pretty sure the 155 is stiffer than the 165. I bend them both easy but with the 155 I can't seem to get far into the pit. Need a little help if I wanna go higher

  • @21Laz you def done wanna go down to the 155. the pole is def gonna be softer. only reason it feels stiffer is because with the extra foot and a half on the pole you need to run twice as fast. for me, even going from a 14' pole to a 14'6 was a big adjustment. you gotta just go at it til you make it tho. i busted my ass for a week on my new pole, then one day it clicked and i was jumping 2 feet higher

  • @daysbleedtonight32 Yeah i recently went from a 13'6" 140 spirit jumping 12' to a 13'9" 145 cata-pole jumping 14' that little bit makes a lot of difference sometimes

  • Yo this kid is nice. I weigh 145, 5'8", current benching 240. I'm a junior and my PR is 13'. I'm PRing just about every other week and hopefully I can get like that by the summer. I doubt it but u never know. This is only my second year pole vaulting. Does anyone know how to work out for pole vaulting to keep getting higher?

  • rockets are the best poles

  • @TheMikeced hahahahahahahahahha

  • I was at an ATCA meet when this dude was jumping in Fayetteville, it was freaking incredible. Im from Van Buren Arkansas. This kid is an amazing athelete

  • I was at an ATCA meet watching this dude jump, it was freaking incredible, im from Van Buren Arkansas. This kid is an amazing athlete

  • in florida our state record jump is 16' 8". for someone in high school to be pretty much jumping 18' is amazing. (olympic status)

  • A guy from Rolling Meadows, IL did it easy peasy.

  • @SirRofflez that was Mick Viken :D he went to my school i met him during a pole vaulting summit. i am a freshmen in high school. his PR is 16"10 in high school. won state in 2009. i dont know his PR right now though.

  • @mailman2416 I was competing against Mick Viken last year at the conference meet. I'm from Palatine. He went somewhere in the 16's.

  • @larok21 yeah he went 16 7 in the conference meet. so you go to palatine? nice. what grade?

  • bog te nebi jebo šta je brz

    man, he's fast!!!!

  • i love pole vault. i just started this year and i am in seventh grade. I have an essx 90 lbs 13 my record is only eight feet look at my video and tell me what i am doing wrong And what does pr mean?

  • pr means personal record

  • 90lbs?!? dude thats hella light

  • pr means personal record

  • pr means personal record

  • I just cant believe how much he pushes off with his arm after the term. holy balls

  • college mat...wish my high school had one...so comfortable

  • soooo freaking fast....

  • contact mike@allprostickers for the pole wraps that jeff hartwig and derek miles are using.

  • dannggg that was soo close

  • hey do u know where i could find a carbon with a spiral wrap...like what jeff hartwig or cory shank uses

  • No i jump on altius, i dont know where to get those. Search google im sure you will find some.

  • okay..when you said you jump on altius, looked at the prices and they are like amazing...200 dollars cheaper than a spirit or a pacer...how are altius vaultwise

  • Well... everyone i know who has jumped on one has loved them. A girl the other day borrowed some and qualified for olympic trials, first time on them. They are very smooth and react the same throughout, they wont throw you prematurely, its smooth throughout. The only complaint is that the bigger ones are heavy. But with the proper pole drop you dont feel that anyway.

  • ok thanks...im probably gonna buy one now =]

  • however there is a reason why the only people that jump on altius are small guys and girls. i think they are decent enough poles outside of the absurb carry weight and diameter. Whats the highest jump on an altius these days anyway?

  • Steiner has jumped 15'1" or so with them when she didnt have her original poles. You would have to talk to one of the manufacturers to find the highest vault on one. Im pretty convinced that a 19'+ vaulter would not be dissatisfied with an altius. If you drop the pole correctly you shouldnt feel much resistance anyway. They are no heavier than what bubka has jumped some of his WR's with.

  • yea the way everyone is talkin about altius it reminds me of the essx poles that i jump on. and your right im only about 5'6 128, on a 14 170 essx. my handgrip is something like 13 9 and my pr is 15 6.

  • yea i know wat u mean lol i love my essx

  • my god. you did that on an altius? i never really cared for them myself. too soft for my liking. but wow dude. that's awesome! you definately have a huge future ahead of you!

  • Actually thats not me, my PR is 16'10. But again im not sure how you say they are too soft.... seeing as how the whole point of pole vaulting is to make the next pole up seem softer, so you get on bigger poles, and jump higher. Altius are more smooth, seeming softer during the mid part of your swing, but give you the same flex results on top. But thanks again man!

  • wtf...dude is amazing...i came in 3 at state...i go 14...but freakin 18 froma high schooler!!!thats what they go in freakin olympics

  • a well respecteed person around these areas told me he had not

  • Well... he may be well respected but i vaulted with him his senior year, and we lifted 3 times a week. He put up 270 in decline press, i spotted him. He didnt get serious about it until his junior/senior year though.

  • 270 and he weighs 145? wow hes realy strong...he has a really strong takeoff so he must have strong legs...how much does he squat

  • We didnt squat in high school. A strong take off does not necessarily mean strong legs, just explosive legs. He ran ave 9.4m/sec and maxed at 9.7m/sec down the runway his junior year. We didnt even time it his senior year. Squat is more for football strength than pole vaulting.... it creates unwanted weight. And you arent supposed to max in squat anyway.

  • ooh okay...the reason i asked was because the squat is one of the 5 star club pole vault lifts.....its incline, squat, clean, curl....and im also a powerlifter =P

  • lol-never lifted in high school wow

  • What do you mean? lol we lifted in high school.

  • wow he is almost 6 feet and weighs 145? how do you keep your weight down??......and do u have any tips to help get on top of a pole to go higher than the pole your using

  • 6 foot? lol he is 5'7-5'8. He is probably the shortest high school vaulter over 17'9", other than maybe joe dial who had an inch or two on him. And about your question.... everything that happens in the air starts on the ground. Run and take off power determine your jumping ability.

  • okay thanks...and ya i knew he was 5'8 but i was jsut sayin close to 6 foot

  • except greg duplantis who jumped 17'11 in 1979 was probably 5'4-5'6 in hs. He jumped 19ft at 5ft 6in tall...

  • thats why i said probably. It is very rare to see someone of that stature jump that high. He and greg are among the most elite for their size. Its really impressive when you think about it.

  • wow 18 feet on a 14'6 handgrip

  • not quite made it, but actually to clarify, he jumped 17'9" earlier while holding on that pole, thats what he told me. He did not say he held differently for this jump, but i would assume he kept it where it was.

  • do you know what kind of pole hes using

  • That was on a 15'0" 14.6cm flex pole holding ar 14'4"-14'6". I believe that makes it around a 195-200Ib weight, but im not sure. He weighed about 140 when he was on it.

  • thats one big pit

  • Why would an 18 foot vaulter go to fucking Arkansas?!? he could have gotten a full ride to almost any major school

  • I dont know, maybe because of 42 national championships? And maybe because he could continue to be coached by the guy who got him to 18' in the first place? Plus, Arkansas is a track powerhouse.

  • what grade is he in??

  • he was a senior when he did this. Now hes a freshman at the university of arkansas.

  • ooh..can he clear 18 feet now??

  • he can, he just hasnt yet. Give it some time and he will.

  • if he ran with the pole at more like an 80 degree angle he would go much faster down the runway...and would probably clear this with ease...dont get me wrong, 18 feet in high school is almost inhumane...but the way he is holding the bole on his run strains your wrist and midsection and makes you lean foreward which can screw up your rythm...if he held the pole straight, he would be more relaxed and faster so this height would probably be easy for him

  • Yea on this particular jump his pole drop was a little early. He kind of corrects it with his top hand coming behind him, but agreed that if he begins his pole drop around 6 steps out, his speed would be ideal at the box. Ive seen him get it right, its just a work in progress!

  • is that Spencer McCorkel???

  • Yea it is, just like the description of the video says.

  • I was tired...i didnt read on...my bad for lack of sleep.

  • wow thats amazing, the vaulters at my school can hardly clear 10

  • ya im a freshman and i strated to vault 10 foot on the first day of practice and our best vaulter is only jumping 10 and i vaulted 12 foot the 3rd time i ever touched a pole and my uncle set the record at the school i went to in 1996 and its 16'7 and he was a freshman but he already was jumping in th grade

  • He was a freshman in HS and jumped 16'7? The national record is like 16'6 for freshman i think...

  • yeah i'm pretty sure the high school freshman record is lower. but if your uncle broke the record his freshman year did he never get any better for the next three years?

  • how long should it take for you to start bending the pole?

  • for different people its different. i started at the end of my freshman year. but i know a guy who was bending like the third time he got on the pole. hey and some people don't bend until there second or third year.

  • but that doesn't necessarily make someone a good or bad vaulter. i can straight-pole over twelve feet and some kids can't bend to get that.

  • Corey Shank from Ft. Wayne Indiana went 17 as a sophmore last year breaking the state record

  • Yea spencer went 17' as a sophmore too. Then broke the national indoor junior record the next season at 17'3.5". Too bad corey broke his back or he would have had a shot at it this indoor season.

  • that's a sick plant

  • dang that kid is crazy we have a kid at my school who is a sophomore and is jumping 16'6 right now

  • in practice or in a meet? I havent seen any 16'6 sophmore jumpers this year yet. Where are you from?

  • CRAZY.... yea u will get a scholorship to any school if u have good ACT scores

  • what the fuck??? 18 nfeet in high school, say hello to a schalarship to school of your choice

  • right!

  • woah that guy is very fast. i wish i had his speed.
