The main violin sounds passionate (could be interpreted as sad as well) and the background violins are playful. It would be strange to have a sad song with playfulness in the background. So I think it is a happy/passionate song. But I sometimes like to enjoy as a sad tune as well

Nice Instrumental version of Ave Maria !! and far away the best Ave Maria ever written !! Schubert just had a melodic expressive Genius as a composer. His melodies are just so beautiful and rich in karakter!
