I have my box tuned to around 35.5hz how do the rock songs with the kick drum sound at 30hz? I was at 34.5hz but the kick drums were lacking they are a little better now but still lacking that feel in my chest.
It will always sound that way when you tune that low. Changing the settings won't help that much. You have to build another box and tune it higher. The box you have now probably gets real loud on the low notes and the other notes don't sound as loud?
hows it sound for being tuned to 30hz..? hit just music pretty good? im scared to tune mine that low because i listen alot of radio.. not decaf and c.s. music.. hows it sound on higher notes?
I am thinking of putting some polyfill in the box. I just need to find a way so it won't blow out of the port haha that would probably make the box about 1.75 per sub. Look at the newer vid with a Orion 2500d pushing these babies, wayyyyy better
check out my vids with a 1500d and 2 hype r's. i pound the absolute shit outta them, and they love, no bottoming out, no smell, and they shake your ass pretty good lol. although im thinking about switching them out for these....nice video 5*
thats faults.. and you need to ask your self when your at a rock ceoncert and that bass is blasting quick from the double bass an 18 inch sub is what your hearing... size of the sub has little to nothing to do with it.box and sub design FTW
This is true, however the 18 was sealed and the 2 12's were ported and still sounded better. But your right the size of the woofer does not matter (in theory) for SQ
Dude why do you have 3 cubes for the 2 subs the only take 1 each

sundown actually requires 1.75 cube per sub and if over powering them bye alot they tell you to reduce the box size...

That box is a little too small, SA-12's require at least 1.75 cu. ft.
I bet if you build a new box, they'll sound even better.

I'm pretty sure polyfill can only be used in sealed enclosures.
My SA-12's are coming in today, can't wait to get em.
andymcdo 2 years ago
no, if you put polyfill ROLL in your enclosure, it wont fly out... it has the be the ROLLed kind

ohh, didn't know that. thanks.

@williambrea spray adhesive might work, lol
I just use melamine on the walls of my boxes. does the trick.
good luck getting a hold of raw melamine, Mr. Clean Corp bought that shit out like 5 years ago.

@williambrea Polyfill is not going to do anything in a ported box, nice setup just go bigger if you can!!
rickssi30 1 year ago
@andymcdo Also make the box seperated with each sub having it's own port.

subs dont sound "tighter" because of thair size.... great to see sundown in your ride :D
jonbearsmt 2 years ago
If you mean tight as in a faster response then a smaller sub would usually have a faster response.
