  • I'm a history geek too, always have been always will be...

  • really good vid! some crazy pics in there. you gotta wonder, who had the time to pick up a camera in the middle of World War 1? if it was me, i probably wouldn't

  • Thanks, glad you like it. I have often thought the same thing about how these pics where taken. A lot where taking by the press and some of the film footage was even faked. Although in recent events such as 9/11 there what no shortage of people taking pictures.

  • at 1:23 seconds the soldier is an American...he is using a model 1903 Springfield rifle.Sorry....I just catch things like that and cant shut up....

  • what did you get as a mark? ahha

  • GOD save the Queen...+---+96+++------++++

  • 0:41-0:44 epic over-the-top fail

  • that video was a fake and was made during the battle of the somme

  • nice composition.

  • Thank you : )

  • Why does everyone spell it wrong? its Passchendaele.

  • there are many different spellings of this word apparently.

  • and theres the right one Passchendaele...

  • There are several different spellings of it.

I prefer Paschendale (that's also the way Iron Maiden spells it)

  • It is 'Passendale".

    Engish version is Passchendaele.

    Greetz from Belgium

  • you may be right there tette so many films were made about the great war after the war makes it hard to tell real footage from movies, camera angles give some of it away

  • at 0:37... that 's not real.

  • Why not? I believe it is.

  • Look to their equipment, they usually go over the top carrying a shitload of bags. The "trench" they come out off, doesn't even look like a trench, it's just quick dug to make it look they're charging, it isn't even stabelised by wood or something. Probably made for some propaganda film.

  • That scene isn't real thats why, and yes at the Somme in 1916 elements of troops took heavy packs on their backs which included tools to dig in once they got past the german lines and to sustain them once they had taken their objectivies. The sad thing, of course, was that it was only the 36th Ulster Division that broke through the german lines that day and they had to retreat soon after, losing horrendous casualties in the process. Trouble at dale which this vid is about was the belgium mud

  • say! nice video!

  • Thanks! glad you like it.

  • hey brother its Pachendale

  • yeah i guess... and btw this is george... from judo lol

  • quiet alot of the footage is from the somme...

  • Yh, True but I found it hard to find footage speciality form Passendale

  • passendale and vimy ridge make me damn proud to be canadian

  • hell ya me 2

  • right on brother! have u seen passendale the film?

  • i want to join the army

  • Quote--Crisco30029 (1 day ago) LOL at 0:42-45 ish when everyone charges over the hill one guy stays behind, he pretends as hes going over then slides back down.. ....."

Umm dude,,,he got killed, didnt even make it out of the trench. Going to see the movie tonight..respect

  • Some of the footage was faked it was taken from the Film "the Battle of the Somme" It was made during the War to show the people on the home front what the war was like. It was meant to boos support for the war but in many cases did the opposite. Thanks for watching my vid.

  • dude two people got killed... look at the far left of when that clip happens

  • slaughter... all it was

  • LOL at 0:42-45 ish when everyone charges over the hill one guy stays behind, he pretends as hes going over then slides back down..

  • dude he got shot...

  • didn't look like it, my bad

  • Great song to go with a horrible battle. So proud to be Canadian.

  • hoo-ah, proud to serve for those who have served before me

  • I watched this movie in the theatre yesterday :) I loved it :)

  • 600,000 on both sides during Passendale.

  • 150 000 killed in Passendale, 3:26 of this video :)

  • Trust me, it was more than that

  • yeah it was over half a million lost, country not just 150 000

  • More like 59,000,000 in total.

  • 800,000 people dead on both sides!

  • viev la canadaian

  • Here, here. Maple Leaf Forever.

  • Proud to be Canadian.. And to know German took the name STORM TROOPER From what our fathers fathers did over there..

  • this battle explains why the war of attrition is horrible and why strategy is extremely important in war. Without strategy the bodies will pile up. Thanks Arthur Currie for saving the lives of the people in WW1.

  • my decendents live0d & died at passendale. one, Percy, on our cenotaph in wakefield. A legend. The other jack lived till in his 80s a legend. New zealands hardest& darkest day. this song is a great tribute to days forgotten. " lest we forget"

  • @lebenraum1918 so you think we should recognize your cowardly invasion of belgium?

  • The real shame is that this war only gets recognized for shitty british and french offensives that failed miserably while the brilliant victories get ignored.

  • You have a point there

  • I agree this war doesnt get as much attnetion as it desrves at all.

  • those ppl were just gun fodder to those comanding officer

    what a terrible war

  • nice vid.....im Canadian and British so this is a major part of my family

  • Good video, a fitting tribute to an amazing song and one of the greatest tragedys of all time.

  • Thanks, it was a terrible battle.

  • i salute all the people who fought in this battle, my great grandad died in this fight after earning 3 medals *salutes*

  • nice memory of the bloody battlefield

  • @VDOcollector and seppo1980

It were 250 000 deads for the allied forces and

    217 000

  • 150 000 dead? well i got an education. i was only aware of the canadian corps involvement. the town was not the objective, the high ground near it was. good video.

  • Nice Video. Can anyone tell me where these people get the old WW1 and WW2 videos and clips?

  • Enjoyed the Vid and don't want to sound picky, but alot of the clips are either from the Somme or Verdun, not Passcendaele. apart from that . well done

  • Thanks! it was to head to find just clips of Passcendaele but I put in as much as i could! Cheers for ya feed back!

  • Appreciate the reply, and I agree that the pool of usable material is small of the Flanders battles and basically everyone is fishing in the same small pool. To get different clips is hard. My comment was not meant as critisicm at all, just an observation. Also to those that knock your spelling of Passchendaele. If any of them have actually been there, they will know that there are many ways of spelling it by the Belgians, including they way you have spelt it. Excellent effort 5*.

  • I'm a Belgian and I live in that village. It's indeed spelled "Passendale" now.

  • yeh i used some in my iron maiden somme tribute so yeah not all passendale

  • the number of casualties in the end is wrong, there also died nearly 150.000 Germans

  • You could maybe spell Passchendaele on the title right...

  • That's actually the modern spelling of the town's name.

  • Thanks. Every time I go I see it spelt differently, like Ypres being spelt Iper, leper etc. Would help if was spelt the same by everyone. Not a very big village though for all the people would died trying to take it.

  • its spelling in english is Ypres, but the spelling changes with languages, e.g Passendale is the english spelling and paschendale is belgium or w/e it is

  • Actually, Passendale is the dutch spelling. It's part of the dutch-speaking part of Belgium. "Ieper" is also the dutch spelling.

  • This Video is awesom good work it really does the song and the battle justice

  • were did you get all the footage from? its awsome very well done

  • well done mate thanks giving me my first video response it rocked keep up the gd work

  • Woah this is a really good job =O I didnt see it when it came out because for some reason when I click subscribe then it says I already have =( But this was a really good music video! Great song too =D!

  • fantastic and where did you get the clips?

  • Thanks! My friend most of the imdges but the I found the moving clips on dog pile video Search.

  • nicely done.
