really good vid! some crazy pics in there. you gotta wonder, who had the time to pick up a camera in the middle of World War 1? if it was me, i probably wouldn't
Thanks, glad you like it. I have often thought the same thing about how these pics where taken. A lot where taking by the press and some of the film footage was even faked. Although in recent events such as 9/11 there what no shortage of people taking pictures.
you may be right there tette so many films were made about the great war after the war makes it hard to tell real footage from movies, camera angles give some of it away
Look to their equipment, they usually go over the top carrying a shitload of bags. The "trench" they come out off, doesn't even look like a trench, it's just quick dug to make it look they're charging, it isn't even stabelised by wood or something. Probably made for some propaganda film.
That scene isn't real thats why, and yes at the Somme in 1916 elements of troops took heavy packs on their backs which included tools to dig in once they got past the german lines and to sustain them once they had taken their objectivies. The sad thing, of course, was that it was only the 36th Ulster Division that broke through the german lines that day and they had to retreat soon after, losing horrendous casualties in the process. Trouble at dale which this vid is about was the belgium mud
Quote--Crisco30029 (1 day ago) LOL at 0:42-45 ish when everyone charges over the hill one guy stays behind, he pretends as hes going over then slides back down.. ....."
Umm dude,,,he got killed, didnt even make it out of the trench. Going to see the movie tonight..respect
Some of the footage was faked it was taken from the Film "the Battle of the Somme" It was made during the War to show the people on the home front what the war was like. It was meant to boos support for the war but in many cases did the opposite. Thanks for watching my vid.
this battle explains why the war of attrition is horrible and why strategy is extremely important in war. Without strategy the bodies will pile up. Thanks Arthur Currie for saving the lives of the people in WW1.
my decendents live0d & died at passendale. one, Percy, on our cenotaph in wakefield. A legend. The other jack lived till in his 80s a legend. New zealands hardest& darkest day. this song is a great tribute to days forgotten. " lest we forget"
The real shame is that this war only gets recognized for shitty british and french offensives that failed miserably while the brilliant victories get ignored.
150 000 dead? well i got an education. i was only aware of the canadian corps involvement. the town was not the objective, the high ground near it was. good video.
Enjoyed the Vid and don't want to sound picky, but alot of the clips are either from the Somme or Verdun, not Passcendaele. apart from that . well done
Appreciate the reply, and I agree that the pool of usable material is small of the Flanders battles and basically everyone is fishing in the same small pool. To get different clips is hard. My comment was not meant as critisicm at all, just an observation. Also to those that knock your spelling of Passchendaele. If any of them have actually been there, they will know that there are many ways of spelling it by the Belgians, including they way you have spelt it. Excellent effort 5*.
Thanks. Every time I go I see it spelt differently, like Ypres being spelt Iper, leper etc. Would help if was spelt the same by everyone. Not a very big village though for all the people would died trying to take it.
its spelling in english is Ypres, but the spelling changes with languages, e.g Passendale is the english spelling and paschendale is belgium or w/e it is
Woah this is a really good job =O I didnt see it when it came out because for some reason when I click subscribe then it says I already have =( But this was a really good music video! Great song too =D!
Very good video. My grandfather fought as Passchendaele. He was a Lewis gunner. Some spot!!
