anyone with a clean record should invest in one of these. with the quiet suppressor and light weight this is the ultimate in home security. soon our country will be in deep financial trouble with this obama faggot. if he flops the currency - you better have weapons to protect your property from incoming criminals
For those wondering, I purchased the MP5 SD a few weeks ago. I was actually able to (Voiding Warranty) disassemble every single component of this gun and reassemble it in a little over an hour.. Some forums say it can't be done, But I assure you that fairly easily, it can be. I wouldn't suggest it for most people, but if your a person that disassembles your guns to see how they work you won't have issues . Mostly Hex head screws and a few roll pins. Well though out components.. Continued..
@BrassAxe So after reassembling the entire gun and oiling a few things I took it to the range recently. I fired about 25 rounds and had a stovepipe jam, and it happened again at around 40 rounds. Nothing abnormal when breaking in a semi auto. After that, I did not have any issues till I got to about 800 rounds when I got a fail to feed three times in a row, turned out to be dirt in the magazine and not the gun. In total I shot 992 rounds through it without cleaning it a single time.. Continued..
@BrassAxe It's very accurate and I was able to hit ping pong balls at 20 yards pretty easily while standing. I can't give an MOA accuracy since I was just cranking out rounds to see how well it was made. I'm sure it's as accurate as any standard rifle 22.. It performed better than ever expected for a $540 gun. So, all in all the gun is well made, fairly easily disassembled, and accurate. Plus at 992 rounds with only two real jams from the break in, it's very reliable.. Amazing gun, and fun.
i bought one (SD model ) at a local gunshow for 540 put about 20 rounds through it at home with some ejection troubles. blamed it on the cheap ammo. one week later took it to the range with good ammo(CCI) fired once and that was all she wrote. extractor broke off. so i fired about 21 bullets total before it broke. sent it for repair. we'll see what happens. hopefully umarex comes through for me. im gonna be so pissed if i get one of those bs no warrany excuses
ONLY RELIABLE FULL-AUTO RUGER 10/22 .22LR SUB MACHINE GUN ON THIS EARTH. We are living in the 'golden age' of firearm design & modification. Look at this wild thing on my YouTube. GSV sells a DVD video explaining an easy way the convert any semi-auto Ruger 10/22 rifle into a true full-auto. All other Ruger full-auto conversions suffer from 'bolt-bounce / light-strikes' which cause many malfunctions. GSV conversions have been tested with no malfunctions.
I own the mp5 sd and it's a great gun. Also my dad and I mounted a red dot sight on the gun easily, never jams, easy to clean, so I recommend this gun 100%.

I think these things look really cool But For the money you could set up a really nice Ruger 10/22... It might not look as cool but it will shoot better. Those MP5 looking guns are awesome looking. So yeah I would and went with the 10/22 but I will say this if they came with the tax stamp for the SBR and had a sliding stock on the pistol version that would indeed change everything. LOL... Who cares how it would shoot it would look awesome. Just my 2 cents.
@skittlekiller The inner barrel actually extends within the full length of the compensator and this is necessary in order for the barrel length to be at least 16” to avoid the necessity of a person having a Class 3 license. The end of this inner barrel is threaded to accommodate the compensator. So a person must use the gun “as is” from the factory unless they want to have a gunsmith shorten the barrel, thread it to accept a flash hider and apply for their Class 3 license.
@UmarexArms You do not need a "class 3 license" to own a SBR you fill out form 1 get your CLEO to sign off and submit your required supporting documents and pay the tax stamp. It is not any kind of license.
@skittlekiller Yes, the fake supressor can be removed exposing a 16.1" barrel that runs all the way through it. I don't know of any flash supressor designed for the gun though. If you have access to a lathe you could probably whip one up. Maybe you could w/o one too. Somebody will probably come up with a real supressor if they haven't already that takes care of sound and flash if you want to pay the double tax stamp for the supressor and SBR conversion and live in a state where it's legal.
@hpracing007 The look and feel is different between the two. The compensator is further out on the A5, and the forearm is an SD-type on the SD gun among other differences. See the HK 22 Rimfire website for pics of the different guns to see the differences.
The GSG522-SD is out I just picked one up on sale in arizona for $399. Seems well biult although the butt stock could be more stout. The sights are open front unlike the H&K ghost ring. and charging handle changed. They offer 5 models and are made in west germany. Fun gun with lots of accesories. Two well biult magazines for $29 Not a bad setup. Ill make some videos of it when I get a chance to take it out.
@robc1219 I got lucky and stumbled upon one at a local gun shop the day it came out for $499. My buddy is trying to get one but they don't know when the next shipment will be. I'd say keep looking and call all the gun places near you. The salesman I bought it from was under the impression it was a GSG5, so they may not know what they have sometimes.
@robc1219 Runs fantastic, has yet to jam or FTF. I sold my M&P 15-22P after I got it, and I don't regret it one bit, Love the retractable stock, and the overall look. I'm thinking of SBRing it and putting a real suppressor on it. I have a Video of it on my channel if you want to check it out.
Just talked to the Umarex rep today and he advised me that the 416's are coming now September 2010 and that the MP5's will be coming out in late October.
Since they didn't come out with a pistol version, I am assuming (and hoping) the compensator is removable so that you in essance you have a three in one weapon. A SBR w/o compensator; a pistol w/o stock; and the carbine. Unlike the GSG-5, where you must buy the pistol version if you want to make a SBR.
Hi, i'm based in the UK and was wondering when and or if they'll be available here and rougly the price? Btw are these a completely different gun to the GSG version as i had massive reliability problems with that version.
Hi, i'm based in the UK and was wondering when and or if they'll be available here and rougly the price? Btw are these a completely different gun to the GSG version as i had massive reliability problems with that version.
I'm 18 and want a handgun, but since you have to be 21 to get one from an FFL, I'm considering a .22 mp5 clone because they're sexy and the ammo is cheap.
I think this gun looks better than the GSG, so I'm probably going to wait for its release.
But I have a question: Do you measure the length of the rifle for legality with the stock extended? Because it seems like it would be under 26" with the stock retracted.
@GNAA9000 My understanding of the law is, a rifle must have a barrel length not less than 16 inches and the overall length of rifle not less than 26 inches. The advertisement states that the MP5 .22LR length is 26.8 / 33.8 inches. I assume the 26.8" means with the stock collapsed. So its looking all legal to me.
I'm assuming the "can" is a barrel shroud, making them compliant with the 16" limit like the gsg. Is this correct? Will they be available to California?
@albaviper44 Yes, it is actually the barrel, but looks like a suppressor to conform to the 16" limit. Yes, they will be available in California. (just with a 10 round magazine instead of 30 to conform to California laws)
@sheepcampwarrior You'll find the HK MP5 to have a better construction, including screws, than the GSG5. It, however, will not accept the same magazine.
I am on the H&K site to look at these and it says they are sold by Umarex and when I click the H&K .22 LR's it just brings me back to the H&K site without any information on price and avalibitily. Whats going on?
