For those who say that they're STILL good, you were obviously a fan of them AFTER or during Nymphetamine. You know nothing of what you speak. They completely changed their style and it truly is disappointing.
@saffronscursex I agree with you on some points. My favorite Cradle albums are Principle up to Midian, but They're later albums still have something to offer for me. They're lyrics haven't dropped though. Always an interesting read
I can't get and I need somebody to help me. I mean what went wrong!!?? how could a band make such a great song like this then after 15 years come back and make a misrable song like forgive me father!!!

I think they sounded so awesome at this time also because of all the talent they had, especially the drummer Nicholas Barker who's in my opinion one of the best drummer in metal
This song makes me feel I'm in another world when I listen to it. It's easily my favorite song by Cradle of Filth. And I wish they still made music as epic as this.
@ih8makinusernames uuum nope...actually they have been arguing for the control of the Transylvania region, wich was at a repeating dispute between Hungary and Romania, but after the First World War,it remained part of Romania.
@vergil443 It was part of Hungary, I mean the old, historic Hungary. The Trianon peace treaty after the first World War took away the 2/3 of the territory of Hungary, and gave them to the neighbouring countries (Hungary was punished way harder than Germany). That day was the darkest day of the history for us, Hungarians. But it's history now.

I wish they still sounded like this.. After Midian they became some mainstream radio playing crap band. They were my biggest Gods. Atleast their old albums are awesome. Dusk and Her Embrace and Cruelty and the Beast are the best albums ever. Nothing can top those two.
@SlaytheAngels I agree. In my opinion, everything they created up to Damnation And A Day was nothing short of a masterpiece. When I listened to the Nymphetamine album, it foreshadowed a heavy change for Cradle Of Filth. Thornography made me disown them, then I started to somewhat get into them again when they released Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder. It was an excellent redemption from Thornography, but unfortunately the old Cradle Of Filth that I idolized wasn't present.
@ParadiseLost329 Yeah, I could listen to Damnation and a Day, but after that.. no way. I think they stink now, nothing like what they were back in the days.
I do realize that bands changes and all that, but I can never like them they way I used to. Not if they're gonna sound like they do now.
@Blakkheim16 They aren't now, but they used to be seen as a tragic, beautiful something, but now they've been turned into a gay joke, because of certain modern movies and books...
THey are playing this live now along with HEaven Torn Asunder... they are back to "A" standards.. last album turned off a lot of people cause it is sounding more old sschool/
@FilthyBeava Last show in pomona they sounded so fucking good,I was really starting to doubt if they were ever going to sound good again, but fuck they just destroyed, Dani's vocals were prestine and overall filthy, it was fucking brilliant.
Cradle of Filth's creations are very good. Much of it is only Dani's creations, so he is a good artist. Even if, as a people, he sucks. He's the Nicolas Sarkozy of Black Metal. Short, complexed, and arrogant.
Cradle is very creative with all the song titles and lyrics, with great music. anyone that says they suck should shut the fuck up unless they can make albums this good and can play this well.
@pslipy makes the band look bad, maybe. He's up there with the guy from Silencer as the worst black metal vocalist I've ever heard. I really do like this song though
@gsp1175 like...what? are you implying cof is black metal?...honestly...he is a very talented singer...there is no other band with a singer like dani, many try but none can match..i can possible understand how one would dislike his vocals but to say he is untalented and a bad singer is false...like it or not he is talented
@pslipy are you one of those people that pretentiously insist their favorite band transcends classification, or do you honestly think they're anything other than good symphonic black?
I do not consider them extreme metal, considering they have songs like Malice Through The Looking Glass, and some songs that are just plain slow and melodic.
I hate all this annoying genre argument shit, but I think their perfect description would be.. Melodic Gothic Metal. With Black Metal and Extreme Metal influences, obviously.
@LeonJordison the problem with that statement is that extreme metal is a genre that covers a wide variety of genres. black metal, gothic metal, symphonic (gothic) metal, all included. Gojira falls under the same category and they sound absolutely nothing like COF. it seems you have a loose understanding of the definitions of genres...regardless of what you "consider" these are facts dude...u mad
Haha whatever man, I don't sit on Urban Dictionary all day and look up genres.. It's Symphonic/Melodic Gothic Metal, with Extreme and Black Metal influences. Even if there's 'facts' that you discovered online, I'm still sticking to what I believe. I'm not a genre master, I could care less what genre they're in. They just make amazing music. And I think we can both agree that ultimately, they are their own genre, because there is a huge debate on what genre they're in anyway.
@LeonJordison im not a "genre master" im just not an idiot...extreme metal influences dosent even make any sense man...its a term that refers to a huge variety of sounds. basic it means they change genres from album to album. normally i wouldent correct the nubs but there has been a dispute about cofs genre since the mid 90s and im sick of it...
Yes, it does.. They would be influenced by bands that are in the Extreme Metal genre. In my opinion, your definition of extreme metal would sum all of their genres up, but I don't like doing that. Therefor, I say all of their genres.
But whatever I'm finished having this conversation.
And if Gojira falls under the same genre, and yes I definitely know they sound nothing alike, then maybe... Just maybe.. There might be smaller and smaller sub-genres that branch out.. That Cradle fall into. Or would that just be too insane to even imagine?
@LeonJordison not too insane to imagine, that is ironically the defintion of extreme metal...they do fall under a series of sub genres, and cannot be clearly defined, so the term extreme metal was coined...
When I first heard this song, I imagined an ancient vampire finally dying. (At the time I didn't know the title b/c I hadn't paid much attention to it until I heard this one!) One of my favorite songs!
I miss the Cradle like the entire Dusk album that left you wondering if humans alone really could have produced something so otherworldly. This album takes me somewhere far far away.
Hmmm...Paul Allender wasn't on this album, nor was he on Cruelty and the Beast...Cradle needs to see what would happen if they bring Stuart Anstis back >_>
The most amazing part, makes me stun... I rule as Master here Where feral hordes impart my temper Love sank wounded when I, betrayed Saw death etch cruelly, upon my lineage "Usher the spite seething Draconist And commit this world to thy ancient sovereignty" Erubescent veil descend Psalmed sunset thus portends And laid to rest, I now am blessed With this darkness...Forever more
It's so awesome that black metal bands, well I don't consider Cradel that black more like Cradel Black metal, but anyway they all make refference to Carpathia or Carpathian type of stuff it's just way to epic!
The most amazing song and lyrics. This is Dani`s best time both vocaly and poeticly.. But what if they are not so good now, look what they have done, such a masterpieces!
alright, i have some questions, for this is my favorite song ever... im german, thats why my english isnt really good and thats the reason why i ask =D
well first of all.. what does "carpathia" mean? couldnt find much about that...
and then, i was reading the lyrics like 100 times and almost know them by hard, but their english is so good that i don't really get what they want to say.. could sum1 explain me plz about what the lyrics deal with? would really love that =D
@baumblatt11 Carpathia doesn't mean anything, dude, it's a place, the Carpathians are a mountain range, the largest in Europe. You claim to be German, so I find it strange that you don't know what the Carpathians or Carpathian Mountains are. They run from Romania through Ukraine and into Poland.
The album was inspired by the writings of gothic writer Sheridan Le Faru, look the album up on Wikipedia. Many of the songs are hint at vampirism.
@baumblatt11 no problem. They're from England so you should be semi-confused by their English. Plus the lyrics are somewhat poetic and poetry isn't very easy to understand.
This wintry eve when the snow glistens deep and sharpened turrets wed the jewless skies... 1:47.

It's so awesome that black metal bands, well I don't consider Cradel that black more like Cradel Black metal, but anyway they all make refference to Carpathia or Carpathian type of stuff it's just way to epic!

alright, i have some questions, for this is my favorite song ever... im german, thats why my english isnt really good and thats the reason why i ask =D
well first of all.. what does "carpathia" mean? couldnt find much about that...
and then, i was reading the lyrics like 100 times and almost know them by hard, but their english is so good that i don't really get what they want to say.. could sum1 explain me plz about what the lyrics deal with? would really love that =D
cradle4ever.. love them =)

@WEISsGEBeter thx really much... it helped quiet a lot =) interesting stuff!

@baumblatt11 no problem. They're from England so you should be semi-confused by their English. Plus the lyrics are somewhat poetic and poetry isn't very easy to understand.
