  • Actually it was bloomfield then clapton then green then page.

  • @cubsfands29 you could add Joe Walsh between Green and Page, since it was from him that Jimmy got his. :D

  • now thats what i call a proper rock guitar awesome and this guys a good player i learnt how to play eric claptons songs from this guys total guitar dvd

  • This 59 should be named Mona Lisa! A rare piece of art if ever there was one...

  • Please upload the video where he demos the amp. It is so good!

  • @soulson888 His wrist bangles are leather you fuckwit! LOOK before you shout your mouth off.

  • This guy is too much...geez..."these guitars are worth a lot of money"...so....watch me scratch this one up with my metal studded wrist bands :-)

  • @soulson888 In fairness Mike Casswells bands are bangles, we all know how precious these guitars are and the bangles have no effect on the guitar. Be sure to check out Michael Casswell monthly column out in each issue of the magazine! Hope your enjoying the issues! All the best! The iGuitar Team.

  • You nailed it, "...back then it was about pride, not about making money."

  • Nigel said it's famous for its sustain, ahahahahahaha......

  • oh cool another guitar i will never be able to afford

  • @RocknLester2011. You're kidding, right?

  • Geez give that guitar to someone who can actually play it...

  • @RocknLester2011 you should check out some of his other performances like his performance of Cause we've ended as lovers ( /watch?v=QVCxfP_V_Tk )

  • The '80 Heritage Elites are the closest to the '59

  • @socrates1818 Uh, not even close. The '80 Heritage Elites are WAY OFF from the original '59 Les Paul. The 2011 '59 Les Paul Reissue is the closest Gibson has come to the original.

  • @murfdog19 How would you describe the difference between the two , the 80 and 59? Also what's your impression of '63 Firebird reverse V?

  • @socrates1818 The 1980 Heritage guitars were really just a Standard with a flame top, which Gibson didn't offer at that time. It had a short neck tenon, standard electronics, and the demensions were not correct.

The new '59 Reissues have the long neck tenon, Bumble Bee reissue caps and 500k CTS pots. The inlays and dimensions are much closer also. The newer '59 Reissues are the closest Gibson has come to the originals.

  • What about the hand wired pafs, the toxic factories in which these were made< the wood, etc etc.?

  • Great Review !!!

  • This whole review is about the finish about the guitar? Come on

  • nice chap but wank wank wank wank wank resonance wank woods wank quality wank flame maple wank etc

  • sure, the rarity is a well known fact, but tens of thousands of pounds for what is essentially the same product as a modern one is farcical.

  • soon my mexi strat will be worth 20k, just have to live long enough yay!

  • isn't it honeyburst? he said sunburst o.O

  • @50L0NE

Well, the original color of the 1958, 1959 and 1960 Les Pauls was called "Sunburst". Nowadays known as "Heritage Cherry Sunburst". This color faded to different colors over the years. The result were the different colors you know today: Ice Tea, Honeyburst, Darkburst etc... but the original color was "Sunburst". So, the color on this Les Paul is a faded "Sunburst" that looks like the modern "honeyburst" or "ice tea".

  • blablablabla!!!!!!!

  • Mike is such a wonderful guitarist, in all honestly NONE of these online videos do him any justice, if you see him live then you'll understand, I've see many amazing guitarists and when he's "on" no one can touch him.

  • @tatsandteles. I think the very last person the world who would wear studded wrist bands is Michael Casswell. If you look closely, he is wearing a few leather bands, which would be completely harmless to the guitar. In Mikes DVDs , he plays his own vintage guitars, so to tell him to have some common sense make you a complete, uninformed, idiot.

  • And you're playing it with those metal studded wrist bands? God, use some common sense man....

  • he forgot that the 59's are also famous for the sustain they produce BECAUSE of the resonance

  • 63' strat at 14,15 years old! WOW! :)

  • I think it would be freaking sweet if iguitarmag was an app for iPhone !! Thumbs up if u agree!

  • *Drools like Homer Simpson* Gaaaalllllllllllll

You said it's a hundred times more valuable so by that I'd say it's between £100,000 to £150,000. It's on my to buy list when I win the lottery.

  • Rich mans toy

  • @Dogslow Although I do like classic stuff, I have to agree that no matter how old one thing is, everything has got a limit, price wise. My opinion. But, to each is own. If someone wants and can afford one of this, may he go for it :)

  • "that was the '59 Les Paul boys and girls!! Next up,.......the knife and fork used by Jesus Christ during 'The Last Supper', and Vincent Van Gogh's amputated ear!"

I've done the math.....if I get 4 jobs and work 24/7 for 2 years, I can afford one of these.

  • sweet guitar

  • great video
