@MrJakediesel Sealed box provides more control over frequency and sound quality and response is better. Ported box is twice as loud at the tuned frequency, but dies off quicker at rolloff. Some would say 1 ported sub equals 2 subs in a sealed box for loudness. Ported boxes sound best for rap, rock, country music. Sealed sounds better for more musically incline types of music like jazz or variable bass CDs where the bass constantly changes frequencies.

@mkeets We bypassed the stock amp and used the factory radios preamp outputs as the low level inputs for the processor. The HD750/1 are only turned up 1/3 of the way and no need for any more power. The regulated power supply is amazing for power.

@420centraltime The ZRs are louder, but their tweeters are harsh at high volume only good for rap music. The C5s are better for music at high volume because of the silk dome in the tweeter. JL Audio tech support recommends C5s over ZR for the sound quality.

@DJOxxTheCure We tried air lift, but the ride was too hard and it was lower than OEM height. So we went with a stronger springs from springworks com. They made us a spring that was 550 lbs more strength than OEM to lift the car back up.

@MattLaCoe We wanted everything matching. Te 1000/1 are louder but not as efficient as the HD. Next year JL will probably discontinue the 1000/1 anyway. Plus when the HD1200 come out, they will be the same size to replace.

how much wattage are you putting out with the whole system? and do you use exterior batteries to power it? if so how do you keep them charged?

@MrLukieboii It's a 4800 watt system with 2 Shuriken SK-BT120 batteries It has factory 200 amp alternator. At night it takes two tender battery chargers to charge it in 8 hours. The amps are only turned up 1/4 - 1/2 the way up so It's not maxing out it's power. The power draw may not be the entire 4800 watts.

@cardboardcat15, the amplifiers are very efficient and only turned up about 1/4 of the way, so there really is not need to get a larger alternator.

I have a 2010 SS and i wanted tk see if some one else had the same idea of takeing out the back seats and puting in subs finaly i get to see what it looks like befor i do it to mine. im puting in 4 12" Kicker L7's 2 kicker workhorse amps, and in the trunck compresor for the bags. THANKS MAN

@mufasa0434 @mufasa0434 If you want the angles for the back seat I have them. Also I tried air ride and the back end will be lower than factory springs compressed. Don't waste your money on air bags unless you want a low rider. Get coil springs from springworks . com they can make you a pair.

LED lighting, speaker wire, and custom fiberglass and installation can be $12,700 - $16,500 for supplies and labor for kickpods, custom rear deck enclosure integrating factory third brake light, custom design for enclosure, and painting if desired. Price would vary on components and amount of custom work entailed.

@CoupeDeville23 Yea, 110 amp factory alternator keeps up with it. Played it all day at Woodward cruise and volt meter dropped to about 13 volts. The amplifiers are not turned up all the way because we have high inputs and the HD amps are very efficient. At a SPL show it read 142.7 dB.

I should've looked at those HD amps instead of buying the 1000/1v2 that I have now... its such a power hog, and without the capacitor installed, it drops the voltage low enough to power the radio off (11 volts)... do you have high voltage line outs or something? My deck is a 4 volt Alpine, and my gain (set to 54.7 volts) is just over a quarter

@CoupeDeville23 the 1000/1v2 has more power and is recommended for the 13W7. When you are concerned about voltage, batteries is what you need, not the capacitors. Any high end system or SPL system uses batteries. We used the Shuriken by Metra, which is made by the same company that makes the Kinetik batteries. So you may just need another battery. A coworker here had (3) 13W7 and his system shuts down because he needs another battery.

@CoupeDeville23 If your alternator can't keep up with amplifiers draw, it will slowly drain your battery and you will eventually under power amplifier and burn it out. That is is your play it full blast for hours.

@jarenbigj06 We are going to remove the top sub and put ports on the front top cone. There is just enough airspace for 4 sealed, but for the vented, only 3 will fit. Unless we build the box inside the car for 4, but would make too much of a mess.

@HustleMania602 We are going to make it louder by porting the enclosure, but we are removing 1 sub and putting it in place of the passenger seat in a separate plexi-glass enclosure so people can see the performance through the glass.
