excellent review, best one yet, sure glad not done by another fanboy of either game. I own both games and both look good, except for gt5 and thestandard model crap they tried to pull.
I find this review now outdated because i would like him to re-do this with the FULL game of Gran Turismo 5, not just a downloaded taste.
My conclusion is after watching many, many HD forza 3 (which i do like but i like gt5 more) clips, forza is less realistic, just for fun game while GT5 is more of a simulator, only thing that made me a bit :\ when gt5 came out and played it was the damage that you had to level up to make it realisticer and the overall cleanliness of the car. 10 laps and shines

@SRBmadafaker I have completed all the Forza games so far and I can tell that it isnt even close to real driving with its superior physics since every time you add 4wd on a car, it will become ultimate winner of its class, every dang car has too much grip, AI is crap and races gets boring just like in GT, tho GT has some challenge in some races, which Forza dont have a clue about. I do like BOTH series but this comparing makes me, old guy, only laugh.

racing games now have the capability to be made very realistic, so thats how they should be made, for realism. gt5 does this perfectly, needs a little polishing off, scratches removed and wheelnuts fully tightened (see what i done there!!), but it's much more realistic, especially the in car view. forza 3 doesn't seem finished off to me. it's car customisation is fantastic, especially if the person designing them has an artistic imagination, but lacks something big
PS3 and Xbox are different systems. While I am a PS3 and GT5 fan, I feel that you should compare them when the games are out for both systems, or the argument is irrelevant.
LOL...actually there's an option you can adjust how close you want the camera to the wheel on GT5. its easy, just pause the game and select the closer view in the options menu. it gives you the same up close veiw as Forza does and even a bit closer if need be. the only thing to note is, the closer you are to the wheel the slower the scenery flys by.

really, iv had gran turismo 5 ever since it was released in november, and it has just over 1000 cars that have all been tested for acelleration, braking and handling charactaristics, this is one thing that forza didnt do, hence there wobbly performance, and the oversteer is how you drive the cars,

@Skampo1119 Let's get some perspective here. In the time between GT4 and GT5, the following racing games have been released: PGR3, PGR4, DiRT, GRID, DiRT2, F1 2010, Forza 2, Forza 3, six NFS titles, three Burnout titles, etc, etc.
There are plenty of options for racing that we petrolheads have been able to sink into in the mean time. Now I love GT and have no doubts GT5 will be amazing. It just would have been nice to have it three years ago.

Like I said, the video was mostly made for me to experiment with After Effects and making screen shots "3D." racing games now have the capability to be made very realistic, so thats how they should be made, for realism. gt5 does this perfectly, needs a little polishing off, scratches removed and wheelnuts fully tightened (see what i done there!!), but it's much more realistic, especially the in car view. forza 3 doesn't seem finished off to me. it's car customisation is fantastic, especially if the person designing them has an artistic imagination, but lacks something big

LOL...actually there's an option you can adjust how close you want the camera to the wheel on GT5. its easy, just pause the game and select the closer view in the options menu. it gives you the same up close veiw as Forza does and even a bit closer if need be. the only thing to note is, the closer you are to the wheel the slower the scenery flys by.

Okay if GT5 came out on xbox it would look no fucking different, if Forza came out on the PS3 it wouldn't look different. Mainly my point is both consoles are great and both have great games, but the consoles don't decide what the game looks like that would be the developers of the games not the consoles themselves. Killzone 3 will look just as good on the xbox just as it did on PS3 as the same with Gears of war on the PS3! NO DIFFERENCE! So STFU EVERYONE and JUST PLAY THE GAME!

really, iv had gran turismo 5 ever since it was released in november, and it has just over 1000 cars that have all been tested for acelleration, braking and handling charactaristics, this is one thing that forza didnt do, hence there wobbly performance, and the oversteer is how you drive the cars,
so it sounds like u know nothing or trying to be picky

I like how here even the F3 fanboys prefer arcade over realism (ex. Better dash view, saturated colors), that says a lot forza fans. There's a difference between better graphics and realistic graphics (better graphics being to your own preference vs. Reality.)

I thought bollox to it I'll gt5. And the hype about the graphics is well over rated, forza looks alot better, the car models in gt5 actually on your screen not a YouTube vid look pretty poor.
On the up side though the handling mechanics have greatly improved, which is good.

I am writing this words almost under every youtube gt5 and forza 3 video - gt5 is photorealistic. I dont give a damn if it have smoe worst or better textures. I dont care if wood look like a 2D wall - OVERALL when you first time look at this game replay - you starting to think "is it real race or just a game??" Then you look closer and then "yep its a game" - and when you see forza 3 - you can tell from the first view it is just a game. Gt5 = better lighting, better car details, weak shadows.

@cfusionpm Yeah but the GT5 demo was made for the GT Academy. It only focuses on Physics and not graphics. There's newer videos that look a million times better. Check out the Nissan Autech GT-R instead of the unfinished 370z.

@Skampo1119 Let's get some perspective here. In the time between GT4 and GT5, the following racing games have been released: PGR3, PGR4, DiRT, GRID, DiRT2, F1 2010, Forza 2, Forza 3, six NFS titles, three Burnout titles, etc, etc.
There are plenty of options for racing that we petrolheads have been able to sink into in the mean time. Now I love GT and have no doubts GT5 will be amazing. It just would have been nice to have it three years ago.

GT5 is a PS3 exclusive, Forza 3 is a Xbox exclusive, we are not talking about other racing games with multiple platforms because it's just not an exclusive. Sony has been stuck with GT5 prologue and sales did not go high, while Forza sales were so much better than GT5 and mulitple platform racing games. Obviously people will turn their attention to Forza and some would even buy Xbox.

At least tomorrow I can finally play it, but the problem with GT5 is that there have been a LOT of other really good games that have come out while PD's collective heads were in the sand, ignoring everyone else. It has a lot to live up to. This vid was more a test on 3D/flat images than anything else

Like I said, the video was mostly made for me to experiment with After Effects and making screen shots "3D." I'm about as far from a fanboy as some of the other commentators may want to believe, but I do think some of the posts here are pretty funny, and I try to address things as they come up. Cheers!

@NicholasBouchard Many of the cars are duplicates, IE same car, different year. Differences are minimal at best. How many of these 1000 cars are Skylines and Silvias? :P I'll gladly take "only" a couple hundred cars if they're cars I actually want.
