Nice tank could you give me a measurement of how long the tracks are in total as I going to attempt to make an rc 40k tank but i don't know which one yet, and I don't own a leman russ to get the tank track lengths my self. Thanks
Leman Russ Tanks should never be static. You're not taking full advantage of Lumbering Behemoth, which gives it incredible manueverability. Secondly, outflanking units automatically hit static vehicles in the rear.
Your better off buying artillery pieces (Medusa and Bastion Breachers are the best Guard Tank Destroyers) if you're keeping tanks still.
Exterminator is awsome! better than hydra flak...reason 1: More Fire power for leman russ with sponsons, and the las/bolter at the front. Reason 2: longer life on gaming board because of larger amount of armour. Downsides: Hydra flak has auto targeting system. hydra Flak is way cheaper in points.
Punisher w/ pask, 3 heavy bolters, stubber.... 260 points kills 5 marines on average. This is of course if you dont move and the marines magic into your 24" heavy 20 range. Taking off 2 heavy bolters your going to average 3 marine kills. You will average 15 gaunts or 13 guardsmen and thats only because of the heavy bolters. The heavy 20, 24" is horrible which is why no one runs a punisher. You can kill like that with a normal russ for much cheaper. Not OP at all.
@IonWrestler Perhaps not OP. I still feel it is over the top. killing 13 Eldar is a bit expensive. Thats a full squad of banshees, fire dragons or dire avengers just gone. I've killed a full squad of genestealers or a hive tyrant in 1 volley on more than 1 occasion. Transports are just plain stopped if not killed. Too much of a sure thing for me. It is also causing 12 wounds to space marine squads, forcing allocation and still killing 5.
So not OP, but i've almost always got my points back
@IonWrestler agreed. The Punisher is no where near the threat you get with your executioner. Your going to average at least 15 AP 2 str 7 hits that wound on 2's firing into a mob.
Yeah but what you didn't realize is that the Hydras CANNOT move and shoot, they're basically static. And they also are a lot easier to crack open than a Leman Russ with its 14/13 f/s armor.
good video helped me out alot. one question would you every run a standard leman russ, leman russ vanquisher and a basilisk in 1 army? (maybe an apocolypse battle where every player gets under 700 points to spend)
Yeh hes right i took out a hamer head tank out with a galncing hit with the lascannon and i got a instant kill on a battle suit with the ordinance blast ,long live the impirium! oh by the way great video heple alot:)
you need to read the rules. It states that if you fire an ordnance weapon, you can't fire any other weapons. so, if you fire the demolisher cannon, your wasting 55 points worth of guns, thats a total waste!!!! if you do want sponsons on the demolisher and battle tank, take heavy bolters (keep the lascannons just in case) as they are cheaper.
@Quilava187 pg. 48 of the Imperial Guard Codex, Lumbering Behemoth rules states that a Leman Russ can shoot its turret in addition to any weapons they could fire, including ordnance.
@EmperorsCanaries Owned ... Nice tactics btw I'll try them out with my Leman russ in my Next game. I'm still a beginner but I manage to handle myself in some games.
I'm going to get me a leman russ Demolisher with 2 multi meltas, las cannon, extra armour, camo netting. Then I could use the camo netting to get 18 inches close to maybe a heavy tank like a land raider or monolith. Then move it D6 "6" closer to the heavy tank to get the 12 inch melta range and just blast the tank with everything and maybe get the demolisher cannon to kill some infantry close to the tank. Then really screw up the enemy line.
@MegaPeople45 Haha. I love the demolisher. Its threat range is quite low, but anything that wanders into that range is just plain gone. I put my demolisher a little forward in my lines(when cover allows), and it really stops a lot of pushes towards my lines. lol
for me personally the best anti armour vehicle would be a Medusa with bastion breacher shells. The str 10 ap 1 blast that rolls 2d6 for armour penetration is grand! ad a mere 145 points it's a bargain. I field commander pask in a leman russ exterminator with the st 7 ap 4 heavy 4 twinlinked gun. meaning on average you'll miss once every 3 turns with the main weapon. add to that the +1 on armour penetration rolls and he's an excelent tank hunter, ofcourse with hullmounted lascannon.
Punisher...could be cheap...then again every army has something that's cheap. Punisher's essential for horde control imo, especially with Pask in there. How else you gonna wipe out all those gaunts rushing towards your units?
Nothing wrong with over kill :P, sometimes you miss and thats a whole turn till your next shot, I like the Executioner with plasma sponsons running with the Punisher, who cares if its OP, your enemy is gonna bring everything HE can. The Hydras LOOK like a good deal but their armor sucks compared to an Exterminator whos weapons are twin linked, cant re-roll for Hydras, plus skimmers will be closer to you than 72" if they are moving flat out on a 4 x 6 foot table.
in every game i play i take 1 vanquisher with a las cannon with commander pask upgrade cause u only got 1 shot and you want to hit it, a executioner with plasma cannon sponsons and a punisher with heavy bolter spawns for those horde armies. it usualy works well cause all 3 are so good people need to split there fire and 14 armour usualy doesnt fail.
How do you make the vanquisher not look like a huge target?
I haven't used one yet, but i think i am going to in my next game. With the vanquisher cannon, a lascannon, and two multi-meltas, you would think that would draw a lot of attention to it's self.
Any idea's? Probably just put something even shinier on the board would be the best way.
@oshjay333 In general, put it in cover, and possibly give it camo netting. AV 14 and a 3+ save discourages most people until they get in melta range. Also, unless they have a TON of armour you probably dont need the multimeltas. This will make it less of a target too. Then you can still give it Pask, which generall people dont pay any attention to. I usually use my demolisher to push the line forward too, which has been a great way to leave my other 2 russes protected.
@EmperorsCanaries Very true. I guess with a bunch of other stuff coming at them, the last thing they think they have a good chance of killing would be that tank at AV 14 and a 3+ cover save.
So it has to cover half the tank to count as obscured, what type of cover would you use to put it in?
Nice! Tanks are part of my favorite part of 40k! :D

so what your saying is...
If your gnna have weapons on a vehicle make them all the same so its specified?
coz i would norm have tons of diff weps so it nver gets stuck with a las cannon against tons of infantry shootin at it?
