I just realized that this video was filmed before 9/11. Actually it pretty much RIGHT BEFORE 9/11. All these marines had no idea they were about to be in for the fight of this Generation.
@andrewkutches Good luck, Poolee. Remember: Do what you're told, when you're told to do it. The only things acceptable are "Yes Sir!", "No Sir!", or "Aye Aye Sir!" (or "Aye Sir!"). You will play the DI games. My favorites were DI Hurricane (grab all your gear, get online, and wagonwheel, with 5 minutes to square away the squad bay) and Mt. Suribachi (grab all your boots, pile them on the Quarterdeck, and the DI, in frustration, plants the guidon upside-down in the boots).
Respond to this video... Another thing, don't let the games get to you. Take it Sunday to Sunday, chow to chow. Keep your mind and heart focused on one thing: earning that Eagle, Globe, and Anchor and the title of United States Marine. I guarantee you that your Drill Instructors will mess with you, and there is no getting out of it. Anybody can earn the title. You just have to take the games in stride, and keep focused on your goal. I earned mine! So can you. Semper Fidelis!
Make sure you keep up on your knowledge too. My Senior Drill Instructor said, "I can either have smart recruits, or strong recruits!" Needless to say, we were the best in our Company for our knowledge exams, best on Initial and Final Drill, and on the PFT! Okay, that's enough advice. Good luck to you! LCpl M.D. McBee, USMC 1996 - 2000

USMC, one of the most organized and deadly branches in the world, and the fact that the majority of the fighters are 18 must really piss off the taliban
Thanks Mike! I have been looking forward to the rest of your boot camp platoon videos for the longest! Hope to see part 2, 3, 4, 5, and etc in the near future. Keep em' coming!
SSGT Nichols, I takeit you were there at MCRD on 9/11. What was the moodlike with your felllow hats and also the Recruits? Being an old Jarhead and a former hat myself, I've often wondered what the atmosphere was like there at that moment in history.
I need to study for the ASVAB asap.
