@flupmakintosh you can still do it there with raised beds with plastic covers to keep humidity up. If you get really into it you can get heating pads built into seed beds to help along process.
Your ground may be contaminated by unknown factors (used motor oil, other tossout "junk"). I would do raised bed gardens if I were you, until you've gotten the hang of gardening. You have to start tomatoes out NOW in Feb. not in March, that is too short of a growing start. You already have a short growing season, so get ones adapted for YOUR area.
@blukatzen Thank you for your concern. But the little old lady that used to own our house for 30 years had gardens in all the spots that we planted in. The ground is compacted but is already getting better. This year should be better than the last. We do have a another wrap up episode from last year coming and we ended up with quite a bit of produce. Thanks for watching.
I think what you are doing is wonderful. What is the size of your backyard? We have a house with a decent backyard and have a small garden but really would like to expand... I wish y'all the best!!
Loved the way the dog looked at the camera at 2:27 when the can walked by. Going to watch all the videos in this series.

March 12 was totally my birthday. Also, your Farm Chronicles are better than mine. 5 Stars for Minnesota!!!
