@Oldskool97 Depending on the model, it is sometimes necessary. On this laptop, you can't expose the charger port until you remove the main board. Getting the main board out requires you to remove most of the secondary components, like sound card, video out, network card, and so forth. I've had some I could open the case and immediately get to the charger port.
@TheAprone I have a Compaq Presario V2000 with the silver needle missing from the port so i need to replace it. I also heard that you needed so solder it. Is that true?
@dropYoTop It IS a usb webcam. When I uploaded the quality took a dive for some reason. I haven't had the same problem with more recent uploads, so maybe they changed something within the past year or so.
@TheAproneOH ok i got you now But goood tutorial its really gonna help me out im trying to learn this because i fix pc and ive never had to fix one of these on a laptop untill some one broung one over n i got the soldering machine it doent have a suker to suck all the solder out..
@oliviasdaddy1 ...and almost 21 thousand views. The simplest things entertain people sometimes, just imagine if I'd had a cat in the video! I'd have hit a million by now! :D lol
What about a tutorial to open ac power adapter. Not the laptop but the 65/90 watt HP power adapter? I cannot find a tutorial about that. Is there a glue in these adapters or only some plastic holders?
I gave this a good go. Ended up with a screw extra (pity - but I couldn't make out sometimes where you were screwing them in. Sound would have been helpful)... Turned it on and it worked. Good sign.
But unfortunately it didn't fix my issue. The laptop only works on power alone. Plug out the power and it dies. How can I test my battery? Perhaps its holding 0 charge?
@Sniipe I'm not sure of a good way to test the battery, unfortunately. Only a single extra screw? That's not bad at all! I personally think there is a secret compartment filled with unnecessary screws, so when you open up the laptop a few extra fall out to confuse you. :D
still using that cheapo mini screwdriver eh? consider using a quality mini screwdriver with hardened tips and avoid stripping screws, recommend using Husky HD-74501 X for Phillips and Flat type and Husky HD-74502 W for torx type screws available at your local hardware store lol.
@03mrobinson I have no idea how much a shop would charge you (it probably depends on the place and the laptop). The friend of mine, whose laptop I fixed in this video, was given a shop estimate of $600 for this repair. She wasn't willing to pay that much and that's where I came in to give it a shot.
hey i got the presario cq50 my battery wont charge or turn my laptop on what do i do also the light goes on when i plug the charger in so it has to be something with the battery or laptop if you know anything to fix it can u message me back thank
Do you really need to open the entire computer to repair on tiny charger port? You seem to be making it more complicated
