  • seems like most videos I've seen of the cheetah, they all have fuel bogging at lower rpms. Is that typical so that it gets enough fuel when you're getting on it?

  • Your Cheetah looks and sounds great (one of the original 16 cars was silver and it really suits the car).

Where on earth did you get 'blueprints' of the Cheetah? The story goes that Bill Thomas & Don Edmunds sketched a rough plan on a scrap of paper, then drew out some chalk lines on the workshop floor to construct the chassis. No blueprints were ever produced.

Unfortunately I do not own that beautiful Cheetah -- it belongs to a track buddy of mine in New Mexico who tells me he built it several years ago from the original blue prints. The car is immaculate in every detail and was built to be as true to the mid-60s originals as possible; and although it is regularly run on race tracks, just last weekend the car took a third overall at a major car show in AZ.

Thanks for the additional information. Yes, it certainly looks good so I can imagine it would place well in a car show. But I'm still intrigued about the 'blueprints'! Is there any way of checking with your friend where he sourced the mysterious plans?

  • @almacsabre

I should have mentioned, I too am in the process of building an exact clone of the Cheetah using a period body, and all the correct period mechanical parts. It has taken us 9 months of extensive research to produce CAD drawings of the chassis (using period photos, magazine articles, and measurements from an original Cheetah), so that's why I'm interested in the 'blueprints'! Where did the mysterious plans come from.

  • Can you tell me, does your friend’s car run the authentic 327cu in fuel-injected engine, drum brakes, etc as per the original Cheetah?

  • Its nice to see a rare car getting used like it should for once. None of this trailer queen crap

  • Have you checked out the short walk around video I did on that Cheetah -- it's here in my video list?

  • @rdopso

Yes. I also did a short walk around of it in real life and once gridded right next to it. Awesome car. I had never even heard of a Cheetah the first day I saw it at the track so I had no idea what it was. Had to look it up when I got home.

  • Nicely made video. That car sounds fantastic.
