The all of African has those wild animals. Its so unfortunate that the world knows only Masai.. I was born in Africa and came to europ at the age of 19 after being initiated and promted to the rank of a junior worrior. This is a serious stage where a teenager, knows all tactics of hunting, attacking and defending. Am example would be a US hard core marine ready for a battle front {read friendly fire}. At that stage still, the all community women, elders, young cows depend on your strength,

The lion, Africa's best known carnivore, was once widely abundant. But lion populations are plunging from over 100,000 to around 23,000 as lions are poisoned, shot, and speared by locals who see them as a threat to livestock.
National Geographic created an emergency fund to help avert the complete loss of lions in and around Amboseli National Park of Kenya and is providing an emergency $150,000 grant to the Maasailand Preservation Trust to compensate local Maasai for livestock killed by lions.
mannn the true hunter is the camera man, how does he record the rhino without being seen and not be charged at with a massive camera set in front of him! that takes skill!
It's not a game. Though it is a rite of passage and a test of bravery. They live in a greatly hostile environment compared to the US. We create our violence. They have rhinos, lions, water buffalo, elephants, poisonous snakes, etc. they live side by side with everyday. I admire their tests of stealth, patience and bravery. Wonder how well our American youth could do in these rites of passage?
@DaytonBabe "Wonder how well our American youth could do in these rites of passage?" They'd get their ungrateful selfish butts STOMPED!!!! This is one place where their sorry little crackberries, Ninetendo WII and Xbox 360 knowledge won't match up. They'll be too busy crying for mommy. Sorry answer is five months too late. No offense meant.
@balistraat53 well am masai to answer ur question. The clothing varies by age, sex, and place. Young men, for instance, wear black for several months following their circumcision. However, red is a favored color. Blue, black, striped, and checkered cloth are also worn, as are multicolored African designs. The Maasai began to replace animal-skin, calf hides and sheep skin, with commercial cotton cloth in the 60's.
they have skill to sneak up on that rhino even in those bright red clothes lol

I think most American youth would not do so well, unless they have had practice, and have learn to be patient, swift, brave, and slick.

@dcookie44
that was all bull shit.
its the white people who are making the lion extenct like so many other things they have done it with.
The tribe has been in africa for ever and it has never been a problem. What has changed ? White people being is what changed. its not a coincidence.

I don't know why they wear that kind of light-coloured clothes in the bush, the animals may notice them easily..
balistraat53 2 years ago
They are color blind I think, plus they have crappy vision.
Kind of like wearing orange vests while hunting deer- humans can see you, deer cant.
pullnshoot25 2 years ago 3
deers cant see orange?

Bright colours in nature means danger.

I knows some teens play chicken or something with cars on the highway, very brave, but who cares other than for their safety.
